End of the Game
“It’s over.”
Honestly… this was the longest match I’ve ever felt during this game.
What would have happened if I hadn’t had Eonha’s help in this round?
Well… maybe I would have been defeated in a chaotic mess and reported by my own team, leading to a blocked account and tears of defeat… huh?
“Did I take it too far? Must be the fatigue.”
I felt sorry saying this, but it was clear that now was tougher than that time I went head-to-head with Eonha. No matter how great one’s skills were, there were limits against the specs controlled by the system, defined by numbers.
Yeah. In short, today’s events required some serious reflection.
Reflection… Since returning to Earth, I never thought I would look back at the path I’ve taken, living like a leaf in the wind.
“Should I just go home and sit in a bare, awkward pose?”
Maybe that ridiculous thought popped up because of my sudden delusion, making me chuckle.
Well, self-reflection stops here. Now, I need to comfort and encourage my struggling allies.
“You did great.”
“No, it’s okay. You’re the real one.”
“You played really well. It was like you were in a life game.”
“Ha, I did capture some epic moments. The team should have seen this.”
[Lily is insane ㄷㄷㄷ]
[This shows the true skill of a female professional gamer.]
[Based on this performance, I’m expecting next season! Hang in there, Lily!]
[SweetHoney ㄷㄷㄷ]
[What a strange content that’s hard to tell if it’s Friede’s stream or Lily’s.]
I couldn’t ignore the last chat that caught my eye. Feeling my lips pout involuntarily, I protested to the camera.
“What’s up with this? Are you all saying I flopped today? It’s one match I could throw.”
[Nope, not at all. You were the biggest troll today.]
[I’m heading to add a controversy section about Friede on the World Tree Wiki.]
[Friede, the guy breaking teammates’ morale and enemies’ skulls with a staff lol.]
[Lily is such a vulnerable baby… I have to protect her…]
I also agreed on needing to protect Eonha. So I’d have to do better this time.
I’d start by resetting my stats and building my gear to resemble a Magic Swordmaster’s feel.
Magic, in reality, had a different appeal compared to the simple shooters like archers. Considering the limited use I made of it, the harvest was decent. Still, there were frustrations I couldn’t ignore.
That’s right. I had to wield a sword first.
“Could you wait a moment? I need to figure out my build and stats.”
“What? Are you finally getting serious? It would’ve been great if you’d done this from the start.”
Eonha’s smile, as she crossed her arms looking pleased, was quite nice. It might be a good opportunity to seek her advice.
“Could you help me out if it’s okay? I’m trying to set up some skills.”
“Uh? Is that alright?”
Nothing to lose.
It’s not like we’re sharing a bank account. I nodded and immediately shifted my slot towards Eonha.
Naturally, the skill property screen I was viewing shared with her line of sight.
“Hmm… Do you have a specific build in mind?”
“Well, I touched on magic out of curiosity, but I’m still uncertain. It’d be great if you could start off with a sword.”
“A sword….”
Unlike me, who covers everything with physical prowess and instincts, Eonha, as a professional gamer, likely has better insight about the pre-season than I do. Using viewer chance or hunting for information would surely take time for me. Having a professional helper right beside me felt really reassuring.
Eonha scrutinized the skills and traits with a discerning eye, then picked a few options and spoke.
“Then let’s start with the stats. We don’t need any grand spells, so balance will do. The issue is that it’ll depend on which skills you choose to use. What about this?”
Eonha suggested two skills. Curiously, both were passive skills.
It stood out that they would fill up all available skill registration slots. How intriguing; I didn’t know things like this existed.
“I tailored it to your concept. Since the warrior-type stats have a significant bleed rate, there’s no escaping that. Still, I think it’ll be efficient. So, this skill function is….”
“The Miracle of Light and Supernova.”
The Miracle of Light is a safety net skill that instantly restores 40% of health for three seconds when receiving lethal damage, ensuring one life stock. It is indeed attractive and has the perk of easy activation.
And Supernova grants bonus stats to strength, agility, and skill when health drops below 15%, giving infinite stamina. This increase is three times the usual amount. Especially agility directly impacts the perceived speed in virtual reality, making it quite sensitive.
However, the 15% health threshold was a bit peculiar.
Reaching just above the bottom line of 20% health. It’s not as despairing as trying to hit 10%, but still, it was a concern.
If I were to be hit just right to activate the skill, from there onwards, I’d need perfect play to evade or deflect all attacks.
“The Miracle of Light must be the better choice, right?”
In response to Eonha’s subtle suggestion, I shook my head.
“I’ll go with Supernova.”
[Huh, what’s this guy thinking?]
[Friede has now awakened to the art of mysterious deaths.]
[I can see it. The way he dies in endless ways trying to trigger Supernova.]
[Just go with the Miracle of Light quietly. If you don’t want a disastrous end.]
[The wording from up there is so dizzying lol.]
“Are you sure that’s okay?”
It wasn’t just chat responses; even Eonha seemed perplexed. After all, in the chaotic battlefield where we were at each other’s throats, it wasn’t easy to play specifically to drop health down to 15%. But… just say my name.
‘Friede.’
That’s right. I’m Friede. A Hero who brings miracles.
Well, though stat boosting might add a twist, there was a decisive reason behind my choice of this skill.
When Supernova activates, my body gets enveloped in true light.
Indeed, it was time to return to the Light Hero Friede after a long while.
