The surrounding desolate snowfield preserved the stillness untouched by human hands, embodying the pure essence of unspoiled nature.
Above, the sky was adorned without a single cloud, sparkling like a painting woven with starlight and auroras.
The auroras veiled the night sky like a secret curtain, and beyond them, the glimmering stars presented a truly enchanting spectacle.
“Ha…”
The hot sigh I unconsciously released faded quickly, unable to last against the fierce winds of this area.
The cold wind seemed ready to freeze any breath that slipped through my lips into ice crystals.
If I had taken a gulp of it bare, wouldn’t my insides be a complete mess?
No matter how much warm clothing I wore, the relentless cold was sapping my strength, threatening to stop my body dead in its tracks.
It was truly the realm of magnificent nature itself.
Yet, there were those daring to challenge such an environment…
“I never thought I’d come to Antarctica in my life.”
Dai-young, who had been quietly standing beside me, could not hide her mixed feelings and expressed them candidly.
Certainly, the scenery unfolding before us was astonishing—enough to bring tears that a mere photo could never capture.
But to think that someone would actually come all the way to Antarctica for such a view left me tilting my head in confusion.
“Hurrgh! Aaaah!”
“What the—! You scared me!”
At the sudden shriek, I turned my head in a hurry to see Ah-jin, bundled in a scruffy hoodie, celebrating in exaggerated poses.
With every ounce of air she’d inhaled, her cheer echoed deliciously, reminiscent of a dragon’s roar.
“I am Ryu Ah-jin from Gangnam, Seoul! There’s no one here! Nobody can stop me! Wuhahaha!”
“Uh, does that mean the absence of people makes her lose her inhibitions? Hey, aren’t we people too?”
“Who cares? It’s actually pretty nice to see!”
Yuri, with a smile watching Ah-jin happily, shook her head as if to deny it.
Surely, there was the sisterly care behind it, but the energy was definitely out of the ordinary. It felt like a true limit had been broken, doesn’t it?
I found myself caught in a duality of wondering if this was truly Ah-jin’s true self and pondering if it might even be nice to let it be just like this.
“By the way, our outfits are quite funny.”
“Yeah, considering the cold, they’re not exactly normal attire. But as long as we’re not cold, that’s fine, right?”
That’s true indeed.
None of us had put together an elaborate coordination. We dressed just to step outside for a bit, you know.
The problem was that in this Antarctic snowfield, our outfits were unfit to even endure the cold, and yet the three of us were still moving about vivaciously.
“All thanks to my sister. Ah, it feels so good to have the hero tension again. Hehe.”
With a confident ‘R.L.A.’ pose, Ah-jin declared, and Yuri smiled contentedly while stroking her cheek.
“No denying that.”
Feeling the liberation of awakening Hero’s Power after so long, it almost felt like a slight addiction, high on it.
In the past, there were experiences like this from my sister’s power, but thankfully, I hadn’t felt any withdrawal symptoms until now.
Well, it was all but temporary anyway. In time, I would revert to being an ordinary person.
Just then, while scanning around, Dai-young was suddenly startled to discover that two important figures were missing.
“Huh? What’s this?”
Could it be that they’re abandoning us here?
“Where are our sisters?”
“They said they had something else to bring, oh! Here they come!”
As Yuri waved at one side, two blurry figures emerged in the distance. It was Se-hee and Ji-hye.
For a split second, I was indeed a bit shocked and cleared my throat.
It would really be the end if three girls got marooned in a place like Antarctica.
If the Hero’s Power was intact, it might be okay, but since I was merely granted a temporary status by my sister’s buff, the moment the time was up, this place would become their grave.
“I thought they wouldn’t show.”
As Dai-young casually spoke, her worry seemed to fade like a green frog suddenly fluttering in.
“If they didn’t come, Dai-young would’ve been frozen in Antarctica. A mysterious little match girl, yay~.”
—Bam!
With a bold swipe of a hand, the skull was split in two.
Dai-young buried the limp frog’s body deep in the snow and inspected the instruments set up behind her.
Drums, keyboards, bass… all golden-lit, showcasing their mystique and vigor under this cold, as gifts from her sister’s buff.
Though I had heard enough explanations, I wondered if this could truly work and lightly plucked a guitar string.
—Ding!
‘Well, that works!’
In the middle of the Antarctic snowfield, the clear sound of guitar strings rang through my ears, sending shivers through my body.
In this weather and without electricity, it was remarkable that it was functioning so well.
“We might be the first band in history to play in Antarctica. Right?”
Since it had come to this, we had no choice but to do it for real.
In response to that casual thought, Se-hee smiled widely, chiming in.
“Well, we’ve already been to that other world.”
“True, but still.”
On second thought, performing in Antarctica might be less unique than being a hero in that other world.
“Is everyone ready? Shall we start soon?”
Just then Ji-hye, who was checking her electric guitar, turned around and said.
“Yep, let’s all get ready.”
All eyes gathered in one place as Se-hee quietly raised her right hand and snapped her fingers.
—Snap!
The sound that rang out briskly resonated through the atmosphere.
That sound echoed like a melody, bringing forth a wave of golden light, as the natural laws began shifting around the heroes.
The chill of the area was replaced with a warmth akin to spring, while the snow remained untouched, shining even more brilliantly white.
With stars and auroras woven above, the remarkably luminous night sky blended into a dreamlike space.
And as everything sparkled, a dazzling light burst from the five figures.
Gold and white, red, silver, and blue hues blended into the air, bursting forth like a rainbow, adorned in shining appearances of heroes who had saved the world.
Wearing silver armor and golden capes wrapped in starlit beauty, in deep red uniforms embellished with blazing magic, in sleek silver suits connected by mental energy, in pure white armor and capes that adorned purity and grace, and in blue battle gear adorned with dazzling lightning…
Thus, the heroes of the world manifested amidst the snowy field.
Though it was but a clumsy imitation, at least our appearances made a decent enough half-hearted trifling band.
And with Antarctica as our stage, the true best performance facilitated by Hero’s Power revealed itself.
