Former Hero Streamer – Chapter 76

Chapter 15: The Clash of Heroes

The first matchup of the semi-finals kicked off with Friede going head-to-head against Scimitar.

The match ended with a dominating score of 3:0, marking Friede’s overwhelming victory.

“Hello, everyone! I’m Ji-ye, your raucous interviewer! Finally, one part of the STK semi-finals has been decided!”

[Back in the basement as usual~]

[That’s my sister! She’s the interviewer again.]

[This quarterfinal is seriously epic, it’s a real feast for the eyes, LOL.]

[Sis, hurry up and give us some eye candy! Sis, hurry up and give us some eye candy! Sis, hurry up and give us some eye candy!]

[The Friede fans go wild as soon as she shows up.]

[Really, if she goes full-on eye-candy mode, everything will explode, LOL.]

[If she goes eye-candy, why would anything drop? Come on, you numpty!]

[Yeah, if she goes eye-candy, it’ll shoot out pig broth like a pimple, good luck with that.]

[I’m dying to headpat her, that little brat.]

Chosen as the official interviewer for this STK brawl tournament, streamer ‘Ji-ye’ couldn’t help but feel nostalgic as she started her first line.

An official interview was set to happen for the semi-finalists, and the first guest was none other than Friede herself.

There had been a devastating match between Friede and SUHO before this, and while she was a whirlwind then, now Friede could only be described as the eye of the storm.

Especially since this quarterfinal had showcased a classic battle that blew the past matchup out of the water, it was no wonder the excitement was through the roof.

With a slight tremor in her heart, Ji-ye composed herself, radiating energy as she began the interview.

“In this warm embrace of spring, the heat from the quarterfinal clash melted the lingering chill to the point of near boiling. Everyone was in awe during Set 2, which I believe was one of the best matchups in recent Soul Warfare history. We simply had to bring in the star of the event, right? It’s none other than Friede!”

As Ji-ye took a step aside, the camera angle adjusted perfectly.

The camera now captured Friede’s presence.

“Hello, Friede! Congratulations on making it to the semi-finals.”

“Thanks a lot.”

[No wayyyy!!!!]

[Is this really how Friede sounds?]

[I get why all the broth lovers are breathing heavy now.]

[Why is your voice so low, sis? Please be more vibrant!]

[OMG… that voice gives me serious goosebumps. It’s just too good.]

Um?

Did I just feel a weird chill from Friede’s response?

‘No, focus, focus.’

Ji-ye tilted her head slightly but quickly snapped back to attention.

In this setting, even the slightest mistake could be disastrous.

Looking at the chat, as soon as Friede’s voice flowed through the broadcast, it erupted like an earthquake.

Ah, thinking back, it had been like this during the casserole match against SUHO too.

Ji-ye quickly cranked the chat slow mode up to the max.

She couldn’t afford to lose this crucial opportunity to the chaotic comments of the viewers.

“Usually, everyone sees you as a Broken Greatsword user, but you showcased a variety of weapons in this tournament. The feel must be different from what you’re used to. Can you share your thoughts?”

“Oh, it was just okay. Personally, I felt that the Lantern’s Self Sword fit my hand really well.”

Surprised by Friede’s answer, Ji-ye leaned in with a hushed tone and asked a cheeky question.

“What about compared to the Broken Greatsword?”

“Well, the Broken Greatsword is better, but among the weapons I’ve handled, this one is the best. Oh, not in performance, just in preference.”

[Respect. Do what you like. (Serious and solemn)]

[Wow, self sword users are about to invade ranked games. Everyone be alert!]

[But sis’s character looks great with that self sword!]

[The Lantern’s Self Sword is surprisingly well-suited for that!]

[For real, the agility in her moves is even slicker and trickier than when she wields the Broken Greatsword. It’s a real treat to watch!]

“Compared to the Great Sword of Rebellion, the Lantern’s Self Sword is usually seen as an inferior weapon. Is there a reason you chose this against Scimitar?”

The situation involved katanas, long swords, curved swords—commonly referred to as mid-sized melee weapons with less drastic match-up disadvantages.

Ji-ye was curious why she ignored all those more mainstream weapons to pick a somewhat niche weapon, the Self Sword—Rapier.

“Um, I liked the look, and even if the Great Sword of Rebellion is revered as OP, the Self Sword could still hold its own… mainly, it’s a mid-sized weapon that can be almost as fast as a small weapon. Dash boosting and light attack combos can provide stiff competition against those infight users relying on durability and super armor, even if landing a decisive blow may be tough.”

If she can create stiffness, it leads to a decisive strike, and in the end, she also thrust a major hit with her strong attack to push Scimitar onto the defensive, so that made sense.

Ji-ye felt unexpected feelings from such thorough answers.

The image of Friede that the world had built was that of a genius player who acted on feeling, difficult for others to comprehend.

‘Looks like she thinks things through and takes action based on it.’

Of course, she didn’t miss an important point in that answer.

“Friede, you really calculate your playing style through your weapon choice, huh? But the powerful hits typical of super large weapons must surely be imposing to handle. If you ever allowed even one clean shot, you could get caught in a groggy state, and the game could end in an instant. How did you prepare for that risk…?”

“Oh, that’s simple. Just avoid them.”

“…Excuse me?”

Ji-ye questioned momentarily.

She had reason to believe she had accumulated experience playing Soul Warfare.

If she didn’t, she couldn’t truly grasp how scorching and fierce Scimitar’s attacks were just by watching.

Friede’s recent statement was enough to throw a serious wrench in everything Ji-ye thought she knew about combat.

“Wait, you just avoid them?”

Seeing the astonished look on Ji-ye’s face, Friede shrugged dismissively.

“Well, it worked out, didn’t it?”

At Friede’s nonchalant response, Ji-ye immediately retracted her earlier impression.

Friede was a typical genius, but a genius who didn’t understand people.

Of course, this was merely her personal sentiment; but in such whimsical statements, people often found excitement.

[Yeah! That’s right! That’s my sis!]

[Challengers can just dance in front of her; they don’t stand a chance!]

[Friede is a god; she’s just invincible!]

[No matter how good your physique is, avoiding all those hits just doesn’t seem possible… It feels surreal even after seeing it again!]

[Could it be…?]

[What the heck are you implying, you filthy worm? Are you planning on saying something about hacks like that brat from before?]

[At this point, I have to admit it… Friede is a goddess!]

[But she’s a Hero, you know?]

Look at that excitement and frenzy.

Even after setting the chat to slow mode, the barrier looked like it was cracking like it couldn’t hold back anymore.

How much longer would it have to be postponed? Would they have to use time freeze or something?

‘Looks like there’s no helping it.’

It seemed the interview would have to wrap up slightly sooner.

After all, if she got too detailed and it led to excessive chatting chaos, they could disconnect completely, creating an even bigger issue.

Ji-ye quickly asked some of the points she’d prepared and then summarized the interview.

“Thank you for joining us, Friede! You must be thrilled with your victory! Best of luck in your next match….”

“Oh, wait. There’s something I need to say….”

“Yes? Is there something on your mind?”

Noticing the look of confusion on Ji-ye’s face—wide-eyed and round—Friede appeared slightly awkward as she spoke.

“Um, to be honest, I’m really not that happy about it.”

“Uh, what?”

A hint of panic set in, but having interviewed on significant stages many times before, Ji-ye quickly regained her composure and asked her next question.

“It can’t possibly be about winning, so… are you dissatisfied with your gameplay this time?”

“Yeah, because….”

Friede raised her hand, quietly pressing it against her chest.

The armor crushed by the Great Sword of Rebellion served as a testament to the brutal battle she endured.

With her hand resting on the distorted armor, she puffed her cheeks, exuding signs of dissatisfaction.

“I dodged my body….”

“?”

“But I couldn’t dodge my chest….”

“…?!”

“I missed my perfect victory.”

“?!!!”

“It makes me really sad.”

“Ah!”

Boom!

“Ah….”

As Ji-ye sighed, the room blasted apart.

Friede’s shocking declaration, amplified by the combined power of the viewers and the broth enthusiasts, didn’t leave enough power to ruin the room.

While there hadn’t truly been an explosion sound, the situation felt as if a bomb had gone off within the room.

Ji-ye’s interview stream ended in the same spectacle as before….

With a grand explosion ending.

My memory and my oblivion.

My body, my soul.

Friede… and me.

SunlightSword : Dude, could you ask Friede what her thoughts are?

N1sweetguy : M0?L?

N0 : You didn’t ask Friede’s opinions and you’re worried when I call you out for it. M0?L? What’s with the nonsense?

My heart swells.

The conclusion is… Lotus, come out! Warden, come out!

Zikgaterbelt : The teams that go against them are just all smiles; it’s just pure fun!

SisFeedingMidir : I’m one with the team, but seeing them shake in fear of losing makes my day! ^^

N0 : Sensei… if your sister’s team faced off, who would you cheer for?

SisFeedingMidir : Obviously my sister, duh!

Pro broths, measure it already!

ㅇㅇ: Based on countless visual novels, I can safely say she’s likely an A cup!

KimBreakItUp : Whoa, I’m stumped. I stand corrected.

SunlightSword: Gotta love these wild comments, but look at the downvote bombs! LOLOL
