The wedding was held on a small scale.
That’s to be expected, as there weren’t many people to invite.
The bride’s side had some attendees, but the groom… well, rather, the other bride’s side had almost no one, except for their own mother.
I couldn’t let my sister’s friends know that my mom was my mom. Some of my sister’s friends knew her; it was the same reason as with Older Sister Yu-ri.
But it was alright. Even if my mom sat on my sister’s side, my mom was still my mom.
She was here watching over us.
Just like I talked about with my sister before, my outfit was a tuxedo. In fact, even wearing a tuxedo didn’t make me look “masculine.” My body’s silhouette was incredibly… feminine. I’ve mentioned it a few times before, but the Goddess really listened to me clearly.
We planned the wedding itself to be small, but that didn’t mean we spent less money. It was just that not many people came; the venue itself was a ceremonial hall. Of course, we found a slightly smaller place, but it was still quite grand.
The pre-prepared wedding march began to play, and my sister and I slowly started to walk forward.
The sound of applause was louder than I expected.
Even though we didn’t invite many people, at least everyone here genuinely celebrated our wedding.
There were even some of my side who managed to come despite their busy schedules.
…Though most looked like foreigners… no, they were truly foreigners. You could express it even if it’s another world.
People didn’t know who those folks were. In fact, we would almost never meet again.
So that’s why they could come and celebrate like this.
As I felt the soft white fabric beneath my shoes while slowly walking, people turned their heads towards us.
No one looked at us strangely. Everyone was looking at us with small smiles on their faces.
Including my mom, who was seated in the front row.
And my friends.
Even Older Sister Yu-ri, who was acting as the MC.
Older Sister Yu-ri was more nervous than us at the wedding. I had to somehow keep her seated and calm while she memorized the things she had to say, pacing back and forth in front of her.
Older Sister Yu-ri took quite a while to acknowledge that I was me.
When she came to the bakery every day just to confirm that I was me, it was somewhat scary.
The bride’s room, or rather, since both my sister and I were in the bride’s position, it would be more accurate to say we were in the bride’s preparation room.
All of my friends came over to see me at least once. Arna didn’t seem too nervous, but Pia looked pale from anxiety.
“Th-this is my first time singing at a wedding…”
Actually, I had seen people blessing the couples a few times. Especially when we were in the village, newlyweds would often come to Pia.
It was during a war, and the soon-to-be husband was heading to the battlefield, so they didn’t know if he would come back alive or not, but they still wanted to marry their loved ones, and Pia would always bless the two of them with a smile.
Still, I was the first among my friends to get married. It seemed I had never played an important role at a close friend’s wedding.
Well, considering I grew up among clergymen.
“It’s alright. You practiced hard.”
When I smiled and said this, Pia awkwardly smiled back and said.
“And you said you often sang hymns.”
Arna chimed in from the side.
“I thought it was enough when I heard you.”
“R-really?”
Receiving praise directly from that elf seemed to have restored some of Pia’s confidence.
Looking at Pia sitting at the back, she seemed to become nervous again.
We slowly walked forward towards the pastor standing in front of us.
Now that I think about it, the people I was grateful for were gathered here.
Even the princess, whom I hadn’t been able to see often due to being busy, was seated with a very touched expression.
As we heard the sound of applause, we slowly kept moving forward, step by step.
And probably, we would continue to walk together like this in the future.
Indeed, it was worth coming back.
*
Actually, the day before the wedding, I was as nervous as Pia, worrying what would happen if I stumbled while walking.
But in the venue, I didn’t tremble at all.
Perhaps it was because I was so excited at the thought of linking with my sister at that place that I forgot I was even nervous.
“The trip is, is it really going to the Elf capital?”
“Well, that’s not the only place I’m planning to go, but that’s definitely the first stop.”
Aside from this place where same-sex marriage registrations aren’t allowed, the city of the elves, where same-sex marriage is possible.
Even if I registered a marriage there, it wouldn’t be recognized back on Earth. After all, they still don’t even know of the existence of that world.
But just the fact that we could do it held significance for us.
From afar, I heard laughter.
My sister seemed to be chatting with her friends and laughing.
Normally, the two brides would be roaming together, but since all the guests on my side looked like foreigners, they didn’t think of coming over.
Some seemed a bit scared of me.
Well, it didn’t matter. We could just greet each other later when we meet again.
“If there’s time, I hope you’ll come to the capital too. I’ll prepare a great honeymoon gift for you.”
“No, we’ve already received a lot.”
Actually, I was still in the process of moving everything I received. Once you move, you can’t move again for at least a few days to a few weeks, so I was stuck in a situation where my study and room were almost crammed full.
There are limits to how much help the pastor can provide…
Honestly, even if there was more money here, it wouldn’t really mean much.
My sister and I had enough to share, so did I really need to be greedy here? I started to think like that.
“Still, I can’t just let the hero’s wedding go by without any acknowledgment. I’ll make sure to prepare enough for your children, should they ever travel to Irrelaysia.”
“As for the money for restoring the kingdom…”
“The money for restoring the kingdom is already set aside, so that’s not a problem.”
“……”
Hmm.
Thinking back, perhaps being on good terms with capable people might help me later.
Well, since I have a good image already, maybe I could help if there’s ever a need.
“You don’t need to worry about the kingdom.”
The princess smiled and said.
“So, feel free to come whenever you want.”
“You don’t need to go out of your way to help.”
“It won’t be a hardship since you’re here.”
Kalia, who had been quietly listening from the side, finally couldn’t hold back and chimed in.
“The gold given to you could ultimately be given to someone else, so there’s no need to worry. If you start to calculate it this way, all the nobles of the kingdom would have to surrender all their wealth.”
“……Well, I can’t argue with that.”
“Oh, right, right.”
This time, Dana suddenly interjected.
“When are you going to start making kids? I can help with preparations whenever.”
“……”
“Just because you’re going on a honeymoon doesn’t mean you’ll definitely come back with a child; I read that in a book from this world.”
As I lost my words, Kalia answered instead.
“……Ahem.”
When the conversation unexpectedly shifted towards this topic, His Majesty the King seemed flustered and coughed lightly.
“We will step aside for a moment to have a little chat.”
Saying that, they left their seats.
“Why, why? I thought you’d want to go right away.”
As Kalia and I stared quietly at Dana, she seemed flustered and started to explain herself.
“I just want to plan a bit more. We have plenty of time.”
“If that’s the case, then I can’t help it…”
Well, still… it wouldn’t take too long. My mom was very happy after she knew we could have children.
…Having children…
My sister might have imagined that, but…
When I think of it as me, it still feels a bit strange.
Lost in thought, Arna and Pia came over. Pia looked refreshed, like she had overcome a hurdle.
Their singing was beautiful. Even the rhythm felt so smooth, even when translated.
I heard some guests whispering, “Those people must be singers,” and honestly, I felt a bit proud.
“Departure is tomorrow, right?”
Arna confirmed again with me.
When I nodded, Arna smiled slightly and said,
“It doesn’t matter even if the schedule changes. The magical ceremony and the mana stones prepared by Dana are more than enough. You can adjust it to whatever time you need.”
“Thank you. But it’s alright. I’ve already packed everything.”
“Aren’t your mom and sister coming along?”
Mom was chatting with my sister. Laughter erupted from my sister’s friends again.
“No, my mom was horrified as soon as she heard about it.”
As if asking if any parents would go along on their honeymoon.
…Now that I think about it, that’s true.
Let’s plan to go with my mom next time. We truly have a lot of time.
