I Became a Fortune Teller in the Game My Little Sister Made – Chapter 78

<Day 1.>

Today is my first day at the mansion and the official start of summer vacation… though I don’t really feel it since I was stuck in the hospital and missed the end of the term.

I’m not really the diary-writing type, but today seems worth noting.

Come to think of it, I can say I’m at a friend’s house.

I didn’t have friends or acquaintances during my school days. The few I had all left when their parents passed away, and that was back in elementary school.

After that, well, it was working part-time and manual labor… I somehow managed to get through middle school, but I had to settle for the high school equivalency exam.

I met all sorts of people while doing odd jobs, but they were all brief encounters. Naturally, there were no visits to each other’s homes, pleasant chit-chats, or birthday gifts.

Yet, one of those dreams became a reality today!

Namgoong Min, visiting a friend’s house for the first time!

…So, I thought this summer vacation might be a great memory, and that’s why I’m writing this diary.

If I write this down, I can reflect on the happy memories later on.

<Day 2.>

The room that Liu guided me to was luxurious to the point of being overwhelming.

It was located deep within the mansion, unnecessarily spacious and adorned like something out of a TV show.

The bed was so soft that it almost made me sleepy, and there wasn’t a single thing missing—notebooks, computers, gaming consoles, or books.

Plus, whenever the bell rang, the butler or maids would show up to take care of anything…

Is this the life of a Rich Tycoon? Honestly, I might get spoiled here.

Of course, all of this is thanks to Liu’s generosity, so I decided to express my gratitude to her today. Thank you, Liu!

Oh, and Rain and Crown Princess Kim Eun-ha decided to stay at the mansion too.

I heard they had an emergency landing near here due to a plane accident; while the other passengers were sent to Hawaii, they suggested we all stay together since it’s just me and Liu around.

Naturally, I nodded along. After all, having more friends means more fun, as Jisoo always said.

Of course, since the homeowner’s wishes are most important, I asked Liu too, and for some reason, she agreed with a face like she was chewing on bugs.

Seeing how visibly angry Liu was, I asked Rain and the princess, and Rain hinted that it’s that time again.

……So that’s what it was. Jisoo used to get extremely cranky during that time too, so I get it.

Perhaps feeling embarrassed that we figured out her situation, Liu started throwing all sorts of artifacts at Rain, who batted them away with her psychic powers.

From an outsider’s perspective, it looked like they were hurling real swords and spears at each other, like they were trying to kill one another, but it was just a playful exchange between friends.

The scale of Rich Tycoons and Psychics’ pranks was certainly on another level.

In the meantime, I enjoyed tea with the princess.

<Day 3.>

Today, while walking outside the mansion, that is, through the underwater caves, I discovered a strange crack. It had a glass-like appearance as though it were shattered in mid-air, and it was just big enough for a person to fit through.

…According to Rain, that’s called a Gate.

I had heard of Gates before but had never seen one in person, so it was quite fascinating… oh, wait, did I see one during Academy class?

Maybe, but I was so lost in my sleep during the theory part that I can’t remember.

Honestly, even if you told me about the “linear algebra based on the size of the gate and the distortion factor,” I wouldn’t understand that.

Thank goodness the Romance Academy values practical tests much more than theory.

Of course, I was at the bottom of the Special Class during the Great Lake practical exam!

Luckily, the Hero managed to get second place thanks to me, so no problem there.

As a side note, the first place went to Crown Prince Kim Sung-il. They say he got a perfect score in theory—what a monster…

<Day 4.>

Even though it’s a large mansion, after staying for four days, I’ve thoroughly explored inside.

However, just staying in a room all day playing games or watching TV doesn’t suit my temperament, so I spent most of my days walking through the underwater caves.

Today, I walked with Liu.

She had looked really irritated these past few days, but perhaps she was looking forward to the walk because we strolled and laughed together just like usual.

Oh, we also talked about the Gate we saw yesterday, wondering if strange monsters might come out of it.

Liu laughed at my words, saying that it’s one of the weaker types of Gates, so nothing would come through.

Even if something did, she said she would protect me, which made me feel a bit… well, weird.

Usually, you would feel reassured hearing that, but when Liu, who’s small in stature and build, says it with confidence, it feels strange…

Of course, I only write this in my diary. If I brought this up aloud, I’d probably get hit.

<Day 5.>

Today, I got scolded by the princess.

The day before, I walked with Rain, and yesterday it was Liu, but today was with the princess, and during our chat, I learned Liu’s birthday is in four days, so I asked what she planned for her gift.

The princess mentioned she was going to give something like jewelry, and naturally, I was also asked what I was preparing, so I took out the ribbon I had received from the butler and explained it to her.

…The princess’s expression froze solid. What’s going on?

When I asked if it wasn’t a natural gift between friends, she wore an extremely troubled yet disdainful face, snatched the ribbon, and hurried back to the mansion.

Ah, I told her to wait right there.

I asked one of the princess’s attendants what was going on, but for some reason, the attendant, who seemed to be sweating profusely, informed me that today was that time for the princess.

……I see, I lacked consideration.

After some loud voices echoed from the mansion, I continued walking with the princess, who huffed and puffed while returning.

When I apologized for not realizing it was that time, the princess looked incredulous and then glared at her attendant.

Well, it is a rather embarrassing fact. If I had known it would turn out like this, I should have just taken a walk with someone else.

…After we finished our walk, the attendant who had whispered to me packed her things and left the mansion.

Is there something urgent going on?

<Day 6.>

I still haven’t received the ribbon back from the princess. Even when I visit, I’m only told to prepare another gift.

Well, even if I plan a gift, what can I find in this mansion?

Oh, and something a bit creepy happened today.

Liu suddenly mentioned that she couldn’t protect me just because she’s short, and while I had no idea what she was talking about, she brought up Jisoo.

When I asked who the hell Jisoo was, I was genuinely surprised.

After chatting a bit, it seemed like she only knew the name, so how does Liu know Jisoo…?

Either way, it felt odd, like she was peeking into my diary or something.

Just to make sure, I looked around the room, but, of course, no one was there.

On my writing desk where I keep my diary, there’s only a cute teddy bear, a flower pot, an outlet, and a bookshelf—nothing else.

Did Liu learn some telepathy? Anyway, it was a creepy day.

…But seriously, what am I going to give as a gift? No matter how much I think about it, I have no idea…

<Day 7.>

It’s already been a week since I arrived at this mansion. I’ve spent a whole week at a friend’s house!

Today, it seemed like Liu read my mind since she suddenly said that a ribbon wasn’t really necessary for a gift.

What does that mean? Does she want me to give her a gift without the ribbon?

Ever since the princess took the ribbon, for some reason, the relationship between Liu and the princess has become so hostile that it’s like they’re ready to pounce on each other. Whenever they meet, they glare at each other, which drains my energy too.

Rain is a bit quiet, but she also has a strong sense of hostility towards Liu.

…Is it too much to hope that we can all get along?

<Day 8.>

Something amazing happened today.

Liu and the princess made up and smiled at each other!

While gathering for a meal, the three of us were chatting amiably together. I got curious about what they were talking about and moved closer, but they muddled through saying it was just ordinary daily chatter.

Still, they grabbed each other’s hands and put their arms around each other, seemingly rekindling their friendship.

Their hands and shoulders clasped together were shaking and it felt a bit awkward, but honestly, what do I know since I never had a single friend?

They’ve known each other since childhood, so they’ll hopefully get along.

We all ate together, laughing. Then the princess whispered to me if I prepared another gift, and I replied that I had.

Since she said it was fine without the ribbon, it should be all good, right?

And finally, tomorrow is Liu’s birthday! With the birthday of the <Rich Tycoon>, I must admit I’m looking forward to it!

Flap.

“Day 10 is… still a while away.”

“Yes, that’s right.”

“I still have no idea who this Jisoo is?”

“I’m sorry. I’ve investigated all of Namgoong Min’s schools, part-time jobs, and labor offices, but there are no women by that name.”

“…Keep searching. You’re dismissed.”

“Yes.”

Deep in the night, within the mansion.

Built within the underwater caves, this mansion makes it hard to distinguish between day and night, but it adjusts light intensity according to the time.

To signify that it was nighttime outside, Liu was reading a thin book under the dim light of a lamp.

Rustle, rustle.

“Hey, this kid’s kinda cute.”

What she was reading was Namgoong Min’s diary.

During her regular spying in his room, she realized he was writing a diary, and with all sorts of small devices and artifacts at her disposal, she managed to copy it all.

Of course, she knew it was ethically wrong, but the very act of knowing Namgoong Min’s secrets sent shivers down her spine.

However, it was not fear; it was sheer pleasure and delight.

“I’m relieved he’s more innocent than I expected.”

Honestly, when the butler first mentioned the ribbon plan, she thought there was no way Namgoong Min, who wasn’t a five-year-old kid, would fall for that.

But his ignorance surpassed Liu’s imagination.

Having lived alone through hard labor and part-time jobs since her parents’ suicide when she was young, he was extremely clumsy about human relationships and clueless.

Thus, she could exploit his naivety to receive the best birthday gifts.

“Damn that Violent Woman.”

How many clashes had there been once the princess found out about this?

Honestly, Liu suspected that if Namgoong Min wasn’t around, she would have fought to the death with the princess.

Of course, reason would advise against it, but emotions tangled with desire for ownership, affection, interest, and jealousy had likely already landed her a fist to the princess.

However, as she stole glances into his diary, she realized that he would not think kindly of such confrontations, so they provisionally agreed.

At least in front of Namgoong Min, let’s pretend to get along.

Though Liu was outstanding in reading the surroundings and strategies, she understood that she could easily deceive the clumsy Namgoong Min regarding human interactions.

Thinking back to the times when she laughed, holding hands and hugging those girls, she felt a strong urge to rush off and scrub herself clean.

But Liu could wear the winner’s smile.

“Finally… tomorrow.”

The day of Liu’s 20th birthday, and her first birthday spent with Namgoong Min.

She held firm in her belief.

Tomorrow would surely be the best birthday of her life.

Her laughter bubbled with a passion driven by desire.
