I Became the Childhood Friend of the Northern Duchess – Chapter 281

Hello, dear readers. This is Nightly Dreams.

I had thought I should keep the farewell short since the main story ended with a lengthy message last time, but now that I realize this is the complete end of the story, I have too much to say and decided to write separately.

One wish I always had as an insufficient author to you readers was, “I would appreciate it if you could join me to the end of this story.” Now that we’ve truly reached the end, I feel a mix of emotions.

I am sincerely grateful to all of you who have followed along this far.

I’ve always loved the genre of pure love stories and found charm in childhood friends, so it’s surprising that a story roughly sketched out has come all the way to about 300 chapters.

This work had many shortcomings.

However, I pressed on with a strong desire to complete the story as I envisioned it, and looking back, I feel proud that choice didn’t go awry.

Every time I wrote, seeing readers who love pure love stories express excessive interest and praise in comments gave me immense strength.

Even though I was busy with life, being able to focus on writing was all thanks to the support of every reader.

Although I wrote the text, I want to say that it’s the readers who allowed me to finish this story.

A total of nine months.

I feel like it’s been such a long journey, especially since my update speed was much slower compared to other authors.

On the other hand, I’m also glad that the time I spent with you readers has been so lengthy.

They say that as time goes long, connections build up.

I hope this bond continues in my future writings.

By the way, until recently, I was simultaneously serializing a piece titled “I Became the Childhood Friend of a Genius at the Academy” from the start of a contest.

Interestingly, this story also includes the phrase of becoming childhood friends, but unfortunately, it’s not a pure love story.

I have concerns about being pelted with stones from readers who were looking for pure love… cough.

Anyway, since I plan to continue that work with daily updates, I’d appreciate it if you could drop by later if you’re looking for academy-themed stories.

In fact, if I find some spare time amidst life, I’m considering writing another pure love story as an irregular series, but I hesitate to guarantee any update schedule for that one.

For now, I’ll just mention that I have two ideas in mind.

One is a romance fantasy story similar to this Northern Duchess tale, dealing with protagonists and heroines from feuding families, akin to Romeo and Juliet.

If you’ve seen the drama “Secret Garden,” you might easily grasp the concept.

That’s right. The protagonists and heroines from rival families experiencing a body swap and coming to understand each other’s circumstances.

The second idea is a contemporary high school pure love story about a protagonist who’s terrible at games but wants to improve, meeting a top-tier gamer heroine in-game, and discovering they’re classmates.

It’s a pity that I can’t say definitively which story I will come back with!

Aside from that, there’s a reverse capture pure love story I’ve been doodling alone, but that topic seems pretty niche, so it might be a tale just for me.

Either way, I might pop up someday while casually doodling when I have free time, so if that day comes, I hope you’ll be kind to it.

In any case, the story of Edgar and Ariel ends here, but I hope their story and the stories of those around them continue happily in your minds.

Thank you for the overflowing interest and love you’ve given me.
