Chapter 118: Dragon’s Might
The brief skirmish earlier had already allowed Roy to gauge his opponent’s level.
Barely at Sequence 6, Bruwen had the edge in strength and speed. The fact that he could defeat Leo so swiftly was likely only due to his extremely heat-resistant sub-dragon scales, which stifled Leo’s abilities.
But for Roy, the situation was quite the opposite!
In the state of Evil Dragon Blood Armor, Roy could not only briefly elevate himself to Sequence 7 but also had the protection of Evil Dragon scales, drastically boosting his attack and defense, allowing him to even withstand Bruwen’s sub-dragon claws!
Bruwen’s proud claws and scales were merely tainted by the power of the Evil God; how could they possibly compare to the Blessing of the Dragon King?!
The only issue was that the Evil Dragon Blood Armor consumed Extraordinary Power at an incredible rate; with it at Sequence 9, he could only maintain the form for one or two minutes at most.
He had to finish this quickly!
Determined, this time it was Roy who took the initiative to attack!
In a flash of light, a spear-like long sword with dark golden edges appeared in Roy’s hand, glinting coldly!
Weapon Projection: Dragon Fang!
Although it would take too much power and time to project a weapon made entirely of dragon fangs, Roy got clever—only the blade was made of dragon fang, while the body was steel. At Sequence 7 projection speed, he could instantly project the weapon he desired!
With the sword in hand, Roy charged in and slashed downwards, Bruwen crossing his arms, ready to take the hit with his dragon scales.
With a crack, the blade shone bright; Bruwen’s red scales shattered like glass, spraying blood everywhere!
“No! Just a lowly creature! How could you—how is this possible?!”
In denial of reality, Bruwen screamed in hysteria, swiping his other claw at Roy!
Even with dragon scales protecting him, taking a hit from Sequence 6 was no picnic.
Roy raised his hand and also positioned his scaled arm!
The terrifying claw shattered against the scales, Bruwen howled in pain, and at that moment, fear surfaced on his face as he instinctively backed off.
And it left an opening wide!
How could Roy miss this chance?!
In an instant, he raised his sword and slashed diagonally from above, like a dark golden crescent moon!
The cold glint whistled, faster than a raging wind!
Bruwen’s chest scales were shattered, and a large pool of filthy blood stained the sword, splattering onto the night below!
In the distance, Charlotte’s eyes widened in disbelief.
The opponent was a monster capable of defeating Sequence 6, and Roy was only Sequence 9. How was it that Roy had gained the upper hand?!
Maybe he really could win!
With a successful strike, Roy’s eyes grew increasingly ruthless.
Too shallow! One more strike!
The young boy pressed on, chasing after with a second strike like a wolf that had caught a whiff of blood, refusing to relent until it claimed its life!
In a panic, Bruwen faltered, completely unable to defend himself!
He had him—
That should be how it was.
But just as Roy’s second strike was about to land, the ground suddenly trembled violently.
The earth shook, as if the world itself sighed, catching every creature off guard.
Roy slipped as his blade veered towards emptiness.
Bruwen seized the opportunity, quickly distancing himself.
Deep within the volcano.
Underneath the rolling magma, a golden-red eye slowly awakened.
The long-sleeping king grew impatient at the blood of the False King so close yet so elusive.
With an ancient dragon’s roar, violent scarlet flames suddenly erupted from Bruwen’s body!
Roy felt the skin under his dragon scales burn painfully; he hurriedly slipped back, pulling away from Bruwen.
Horrifyingly, despite being surrounded by rolling dragon flames, Bruwen raised his head in devotion and excitement, as if blessed by heavenly dew.
“My king? My king! Thank you for your grace!”
The chest that Roy had just cut open was now scorched and healing under the dragon flames, and Bruwen’s dragon scales glowed bright red, exuding sparks like some mechanical creation!
Roy couldn’t help but feel frustrated.
Damn it! How come these cultists also have a second stage?!
And Bruwen stared back at him, a glimmer of trepidation in his eyes.
“You actually have my king’s blessing?!”
“Don’t lump me with your second-rate dragon scales!”
“Second-rate?!”
“Am I wrong? Should I remind you who’s scales were shattered all over the place?”
Bruwen ground his teeth, the look in his eyes fiercely wishing to devour Roy alive.
But when he glanced at the blade in Roy’s hand, he ultimately suppressed the violent urge.
Roy’s dragon scales were undoubtedly harder, not something he could just clash with.
“You’re merely a lowly creature that has stolen my king’s grace!”
“Let me show you the gift my king just bestowed upon me!”
With that, Bruwen laughed heartily, spreading his dragon wings!
He wanted to create distance!
Predicting his intention, Roy lunged forward with lightning speed, but Bruwen tilted his head back, spewing forth a torrent of blazing flames.
“What a load of…!”
The dragon flames fell from the sky like a cataclysm, turning the entire field to scorched earth in an instant!
That was dragon fire!
The inferno ignited the night sky.
Roy was forcibly knocked back several dozen meters, his face grave as he dropped his charred shield.
Everything around turned to ashes; if he hadn’t projected the shield at the last moment, he surely wouldn’t have escaped unscathed.
What the hell, isn’t dragon fire exclusive to pureblood dragons?! How can some fallen one use it too?!
Roy cursed the erroneous textbooks.
This was exactly the move that counters him most!
Roy now lacked any long-range attack means, and the worst thing for him was a long-range clash.
Whether it was Evil Dragon Blood Armor or Steel Body, both improved physical defense; if hit directly by that previous attack, he would undoubtedly lose.
Bruwen soared into the air, looking down: “See?! This is how superior creatures fight! Physical brawling is ultimately the barbaric act of lowly beings!”
“Are you sure it’s not about being scared that I’ll skin you alive?” Roy scoffed coldly.
The arrogant dragonman’s expression darkened, then he roared angrily: “Say whatever you want; just winning in the end is what matters!”
Flames again rained down with his roar!
Roy suddenly dodged, narrowly escaping the deadly flames but still being blown away by the explosion.
He dashed towards the trees that weren’t yet scorched by fire, using them for cover as he steadily closed in on Bruwen.
From his elevated perspective, Bruwen couldn’t help but laugh mockingly.
So small, so weak. This so-called mortals, facing him, were as pitiful as ants being toyed with!
Indeed, he was the superior creature chosen by the king!
Bruwen exhaled dragon fire, resembling a giant fiery sword descending from the heavens! The dragon flames swept through, severing large trees in half, transforming the sprawling forest into an inferno, instantly engulfing Roy!
But when Bruwen looked again, he found no trace of Roy.
Where did he go?!
Brought back to reality from his killing spree, Bruwen’s heart alarmed suddenly.
In his peripheral vision, a figure darted past like a cheetah!
Roy, using his agile body, raced through the flames, leaping from branch to branch, defying the wind as he soared upwards!
The boy’s body was charred all over, yet it did nothing to hinder his movements; his cold, blade-like eyes burned with the ruthless intent of a hunter!
Not good!
Fear of death propelled Bruwen to turn direction at lightning speed, aiming directly at Roy!
Good! He was faster!
Selfishly believing he had survived a peril, Bruwen laughed grotesquely.
Roy was still several body lengths away while the dragon flames were gathering in Bruwen’s mouth!
But at that moment, an invisible pressure erupted from Roy, like a tempest bursting forth!
The boy’s pitch-black pupils flickered with a moment of dazzling golden lightning.
