Chapter 20: Why Didn’t You Wait for Me?
As Roy was leaving the auditorium, he intended to say hi to Charlotte, but for some reason, a dispute broke out between the nobles and commoners, forcing him to take Alice and leave first.
After all, there were a lot of enrollment matters to deal with, and time was tight.
The first problem to solve was the accommodation.
The magic academy was originally a hidden realm established by sorcerers, with an expansive area, and the dormitories were divided into three sections.
One section was the commoner area filled with apartment towers, similar to the dormitories Roy was familiar with from his previous life.
Another area was the noble district with lavish mansions, overflowing with luxury.
However, these were merely the students’ private nicknames; in reality, the academy’s accommodation policies were quite flexible, even allowing students to build their own residences. The so-called noble district was actually private properties built by generations of aristocrats.
When noble alumni graduated, they would sell their properties to incoming students.
In the original work, the ‘bad boy Roy’ and Alice initially lived in the noble district.
Of course, the villas in the noble district were much more comfortable than crammed apartments.
But the noble district had serious safety hazards.
The most frightening and troublesome two female leads from the original story just happened to live there. To Roy, that area was not a noble district; it was clearly a minefield!
So he set his sights on the third dormitory area: the self-built district.
A small cluster of rustic villas constructed by mercantile associations and private individuals.
The residences in the self-built district weren’t as extravagant as those in the noble district, and they operated on a rental basis.
Many middle-class families unable to purchase property in the noble district would choose to stay here.
In the middle of the original story, Alice went through some events and received a scholarship from the academy, perfectly landing a little cabin in the outskirts away from the hustle and bustle of the academy.
However, Roy bypassed this step with his cash abilities and moved Alice in early.
As for Choc and Vanilla, he rented them a place elsewhere.
Since Roy didn’t need casual servants, he thought he’d let them enjoy their youth a bit at the academy.
After settling in the dormitory, dusk quietly descended.
The final event of the evening was the freshman welcome party.
The party was held in the grand auditorium, where magic orbs floated from the ceiling like colorful fireflies, and the carved magic runes on the walls emitted a warm glow, creating a stark contrast to the solemn atmosphere of the morning.
The party itself wasn’t a formal banquet but a casual affair. Students didn’t need to wear formal attire; they could roam freely, enjoying the buffet while upperclassmen performed various acts on stage.
Compared to monotonous classrooms, this relaxed setting was much more suitable for freshmen to get to know one another and build friendships.
However, being young and full of hormones, how could the boys and girls be satisfied with pure friendships?
Many had already started making moves, trying to build relationships while everyone was still unfamiliar with one another.
Among them, the most popular was undoubtedly the new student representative, the Lionheart Princess Charlotte, who had dazzled everyone that morning.
As the party began, dapper young noblemen flocked to her one after another.
It must be said that the noble kids were way smarter than the clueless bunch from the morning. In such a laid-back atmosphere, even Charlotte couldn’t firmly reject their polite invitations.
Yet, to Charlotte, they were merely a bunch of well-groomed nobodies.
Aside from the bare minimum of social niceties, Charlotte had no intention of wasting more time or repeating the same mistakes.
“Sorry, I have plans. If there’s nothing else, I’ll be on my way?”
The noble youths, who hadn’t achieved the results they expected, were losing their cool.
“Wait, just wait a second, Miss Charlotte!”
“If you don’t mind, could we also get to know your friends?”
Charlotte’s brows furrowed, her crimson eyes emanating a subtle yet terrifying pressure that made the group of boys feel heavy in their hearts.
“There’s a limit to arrogance, you know. When did I say you could just call me by my name?”
Under the weight of her presence, the group fell silent, no longer daring to act rudely.
Finally managing to break free from the meddlesome noble crowd, Charlotte quickly scanned the area and soon spotted the black-haired boy.
But just as her smile began to form, it abruptly froze.
Because surrounding Roy was one sneaky cat after another!
Indeed, not just Charlotte but everyone in this youthful academy, regardless of their status or looks, couldn’t escape the fate of being harassed. Even some small nobles and merchant offspring came to school with the intent of latching onto someone wealthy.
Roy himself hadn’t expected that even bearing the title of ‘villainous bad boy,’ he’d attract so many girls trying to chat him up, and he was at a loss.
The welcome party was a rare chance to socialize with peers; Roy was just letting Alice borrow the opportunity to make some friends while he simply munched away.
But just as he separated from Alice, a pack of girls came charging at him like starving hyenas.
“Is Master Roy by himself? If you don’t mind, how about we explore together?”
Wow, this group of girls came as a squad!
But before Roy could respond, a cold, ominous laugh stepped in.
“Not really, he’s already got plans.”
“Ah? Who do you think you are…?!”
The girls who had been all smiles moments ago turned around with fierce glares but froze in place upon seeing the blushing princess.
“We’re leaving!”
Charlotte didn’t bother with them, quickly stepping forward to grab Roy’s arm, tightly linking with him and forcibly yanking him out of the girls’ circle.
Gazing at their departing figures, the girl hyenas were furious about their prey slipping away while the boy simps were left feeling sour and resentful.
The unaware foreigners finally realized how close Charlotte and Roy were!
Roy was dragged along by the frowning princess until they reached a quieter corner, where Charlotte finally stopped but still refused to let go of his delicate arm, almost wanting to stick with him permanently.
“How wonderful it is that you’ve already made so many good friends just after entering!”
As Charlotte started talking, a distinct bitterness wafted around—she couldn’t hide it.
“Ugh, what good friends? It was thanks to you saving me!” Roy scratched his head, embarrassedly laughing.
“Though it’s a bit late to say, that school uniform really suits you,” Roy genuinely complimented.
Charlotte had chosen a light red blazer but layered it with a military coat, looking quite impressive. Her familiar black over-the-knee socks perfectly showcased her slim and graceful legs.
Such an awe-inspiring yet still adorable princess would definitely attract admirers.
Charlotte turned her head away slightly, letting out a soft hum, neither agreeing nor disagreeing, but her previously tense face visibly relaxed.
Still, she quickly initiated a new round of questioning.
“Why didn’t you wait for me this morning?”
As she spoke, the initial sternness in the young girl’s tone inexplicably softened, scratching at Roy’s heart like a cat’s paw.
