Chapter 45: Three Words That Make the Senior Want to… Me…
Roy had some expectation for Douglas’s character, but he wasn’t truly counting on him to be reasonable, so of course, he was ready to arm wrestle with the Gold Sand faction.
An Oath Knight is basically half a royal member, so rallying the kingdom’s students to back him up wasn’t going to be hard.
Before coming here, Roy had arranged for two catgirl maids to gather people.
Thinking of this, Roy leisurely sipped his tea.
But he never expected the turnout to be this massive!
Chocó and Vanilla were way too effective, right?
He just asked them to round up a few people to make it look good, maybe a few dozen tops, but judging by the crowd, it seemed like every single Lionheart student was here!
And how did even Charlotte herself get roped into this?!
Roy was here for negotiations, not an all-out war; he just needed Douglas to recognize him as more than a mere newbie but as a representative of a faction.
But now, Her Highness the Princess was riding a royal griffin, leading over a hundred people as backup, which undoubtedly raised the pressure and tension a notch, turning the stakes up to the max.
The black-haired boy had underestimated two things.
First was the Lionheart folks’ enthusiasm for fights.
The Lionheart’s martial spirit wasn’t just talk. Nowadays, many from the Lionheart nobility had a touch of beastman blood, and fancy wording aside, they loved a good brawl.
In Lionheart, even the rich girls prefer weapon drills over singing and dancing, as you can tell from Charlotte’s archery skills.
As soon as they heard there was a fight to be had, no one cared about winning or losing; the Lionheart boys and girls were overjoyed, more thrilled than students finding out there’s a holiday, scrambling to join the fun.
And the second thing was Charlotte.
Initially, Charlotte hadn’t planned to come at all.
She trusted Roy to handle this little matter well.
Until she heard from the catgirl maids what was actually going on.
A big-chested, brainless blonde cat was actually daring to harass her knight!
This was intolerable?!
What kind of world was it where all sorts dared to intrude, thinking that without her showing her power, they could treat her Charlotte like a sickly cat?!
Realizing there was a green hat threat, the princess instantly flew into a rage and called all Lionheart faction members to come running.
Not having stormed into the Gold Sand Mansion right then and there was already Charlotte’s biggest restraint.
“Douglas! Ayana Shanick, if you dare touch Roy even with a finger, get ready to pay the price.”
With the princess’s low growl, the bloodline of the Lionheart surged like a volcanic eruption, releasing a boiling, overwhelming extraordinary aura that almost ignited the air.
Despite both being Sequence 8, the Gold Sand extraordinary being facing her felt the unstoppable pressure and quaked in fear, as if facing the awakened king of beasts in the midst of raging flames, and for a moment, no one dared step forward to intervene.
The students originally tasked with providing backup now scrambled to defend against conflict, and Ayana, named directly, went pale under the terrifying aura.
Watching the proud and furious red-haired princess below, Douglas’s face was gloomier than a rainy day.
If it weren’t for the crowd, he would’ve loved to question angrily which fool had told him that Roy was just a scummy playboy from the countryside!
In fact, there was no shortage of information about Roy, but rather an overload.
Some said he was a useless scoundrel, others claimed he had turned over a new leaf, some said he was two-timing, and yet others said he wasn’t bad at all.
The tangled, contradictory information made the Gold Sand faction’s investigators dizzy.
Many things weren’t something you could conclude simply by witnessing; the most believable was the ‘scummy playboy’ label, while the most ridiculous and absurd was the ‘Oath Knight’ title.
To fight against a cult, to have merited the ceremony of becoming an Oath Knight at the founding celebration, celebrated by the whole nation! These Lionheart people really knew how to exaggerate! Why not just say he was a dragon-slaying hero too?!
Such rumors were as absurd as goblins being called heroes and slimes being termed demon kings, so Douglas had never taken it seriously.
It was only now that Douglas realized how magical reality was.
Douglas stiffly turned his head to glance at the ever-calm black-haired boy, gritting his teeth slightly, unable to believe, “You… are really the Lionheart Oath Knight?!”
“What I am isn’t important,” Roy smiled slightly, teasingly asking, “What are you planning to do, senior?”
The previously respectful term “senior” now sounded rather sarcastic to Douglas.
But Douglas was still a prince, the leader of an entire faction.
He forcefully shut his eyes, and when he opened them again, he buried his initial shock deep down.
“Forget about dinner.”
The other party’s status was beyond what he could sway.
“As for Ayana, she can apologize to you publicly and compensate you for her rudeness.”
Ayana, beside him, awkwardly moved her mouth but said nothing at all.
Apologizing to an Oath Knight wasn’t something insufferable.
But this didn’t fulfill Roy’s requirements.
The black-haired boy was indifferent to the prince’s goodwill, calmly yet firmly stating, “I said Ayana has to apologize to Alice and Nia. That’s my bottom line.”
“Bottom line?” Douglas sneered coldly.
Who someone apologized to might seem like a trivial matter, but it was extremely significant in factional struggles.
A noble from one country apologizing to an Oath Knight was fair and logical, and it wouldn’t cost anyone face.
But a noble from one country apologizing to a mere maid and commoner? To outsiders, it clearly looked like Douglas was bowing to Roy, and the prestige of the entire Gold Sand faction would take a severe hit!
“Mr. Roy, don’t joke around. Even if you’re backed by the Lionheart faction, my tolerance has its limits.”
“You can’t seriously think the Lionheart faction could match me at this stage, right? It would take considerable effort to eliminate you, but it’s not impossible!”
Douglas shouted angrily, the bloodline of the Desert Giant Lizard stirring within him, colorful golden patterns emerging on his skin, and the pressure of Sequence 7 exploded like a furious wind, shaking knives, forks, plates, chairs, tables, and chandeliers, even causing cracks to appear in the process.
In Nia and Alice’s eyes, the figure before them was no longer a prince, but a terrifying desert tyrant!
Below, Charlotte frowned upon sensing this surge.
Yet Roy’s smile only grew stronger.
In civilized discourse, whoever revealed their fangs first looked weaker.
At this point, the script was lining up almost perfectly with Roy’s expectations.
In reality, if a fight did break out, the new students leading the Lionheart faction would ultimately have an unstable foundation and lack strength, nowhere near a match for the Gold Sand faction.
But Roy was here for negotiations, not for a brawl; his trump card was never about the Lionheart faction.
He wasn’t just an Oath Knight; he was familiar with the original story’s plot and knew Douglas’s true weaknesses.
The boy met Douglas’s gaze, silently uttering three words.
In the next moment, that heavy pressure vanished without a trace, Douglas’s pupils shrank, and terror and confusion flooded his face!
