Chapter 52: New Outfit
“Master, you really can’t bear to part with Nia, huh…”
“Well, she’s Alice’s friend, and I want to build a good relationship,” Roy replied softly, oblivious to the implication in the girl’s words.
“I see,” Alice murmured faintly, as if trying to convince herself.
Her tightly pressed lips softened again.
Roy was clearly getting closer to Nia for her sake—how could she let her thoughts wander? Furthermore, even if he did like Nia, as a maid, she should support him.
As she turned around, Alice had returned to her usual obedient and calm demeanor.
“Sorry, Alice thought Master liked Nia, after all, Nia is quite popular.”
“If Master is really interested in Nia, please feel free to say so. I will definitely…”
I will definitely help Master—those words that should have come naturally felt stuck in her throat, unable to escape.
Fortunately, the other party picked up the conversation and didn’t expose her confusion.
“Ha ha, stop joking. How could I go after Alice’s friend?”
Roy’s words also served as a reminder to himself.
Not to mention that she was the heroine of the original story; he shouldn’t harbor any improper thoughts about Alice’s friend—it would make things difficult for her.
“I see.”
Alice didn’t press further; she held a cup of water, moved closer to Roy, supported him, and helped him drink. She then carefully covered the cup and turned off the light, giving a slight bow at the door.
“Master, good night.”
“Mm, you rest early too.”
Once she left Roy’s room, Alice leaned against the door, staring blankly at the empty void.
She sniffed her fingertips that had touched Roy’s body, lowered her gaze, her expression lost in shadow.
Master smelled like jasmine.
That was Nia’s scent.
——————————
Having resolved the trouble caused by Yana, Roy’s life returned to normal—perhaps even livelier than before.
Classmates who had previously kept their distance from him came to talk, and sometimes girls would peek at him while blushing.
Roy would recall their polite yet distant smiles, but found it hard to muster any interest.
Most of these guys had ulterior motives; how many were genuinely interested in friendship?
However, one spirited, open-hearted elven girl was an exception.
That girl genuinely came over to mooch off meals.
After getting close to Roy, Nia stopped pretending and started coming over early in the morning to coffee-steal, practically living there for all her meals.
“I don’t mind, as long as Alice doesn’t dislike it.”
“What are you talking about? Alice is the best! She would never look down on me!”
Nia laughed cheerfully, wrapping her arms around the little maid, their faces almost touching, snuggling together like two different-flavored cotton candy, creating a sweet and soft atmosphere.
Their relationship was as close as sisters.
Alice let out a distressed whimper but didn’t push her away.
However, as Nia’s movements grew more intense, her softness sometimes pressed against Alice’s face, making it a bit tough for her.
“I—I can’t breathe…”
With that, Nia finally let go, giggling and apologizing, “Oh dear, sorry, sorry! Alice is just too cute and soft; I couldn’t help it!”
Roy silently sipped his coffee, thinking how lovely girls could be together.
Thanks to Nia, Roy got to witness this warm scene of girls being close every morning, a sight that could compensate for her share of meals.
But Roy wasn’t totally off duty.
“By the way, I’m going out this afternoon, so I’ll be back later, just save dinner for me; you don’t need to wait,” he said, setting down his cup and reminding them both.
The little maid looked over at him, shaking her head slightly, and said obediently, “It’s fine; no matter how long it takes, Alice will wait.”
“What’s up with you going out at night?” Nia asked suspiciously, focusing on Roy’s purpose.
“Geez, with two beautiful girls at home, you still want to go out—you’re not making sense.”
“What are you thinking? I’ve got serious business to take care of,” Roy retorted, then chuckled, adding, “Besides, you’re not living in my house.”
Nia pouted, looking a bit upset. “Tch, just spoiling Alice.”
“Alice, this guy is hiding something from us; don’t save a single meal for him tonight!” She hugged Alice, starting her devilish encouragement.
Unfortunately, Alice, feeling troubled, lowered her gaze and pouted, mumbling, “No, Master will get hungry.”
Roy leisurely wiped his mouth and said softly, “Alice, if she keeps talking bad about me, put mustard in her food.”
The little maid immediately nodded, “Okay.”
Nia: “???”
So, friendship could flip like a switch, huh?!
The elven girl gritted her teeth in anger, reaching out to the traitor, wrapped her arms around Alice’s slender waist, and started poking, “Little traitor!”
“Ah… Master, help, save me!” The blonde girl finally showed a rare moment of panic.
Differently from others, Alice wouldn’t laugh when being tickled but would shake like a little electric motor, making it unexpectedly entertaining.
Watching the girls playfulness in the gentle morning light brought a soft smile to the young boy’s lips.
If only he could spend every day like this.
But Roy couldn’t just stop here.
That afternoon, he asked for leave, specifically applied for leave from the magic academy, and left the Academy City.
Academy life was nice, but he wasn’t here just to study.
The Certificate of Kingship was what Roy truly sought.
As the central hub of Veszyra, the Academy City gathered rare treasures from all over the world; there had to be traces of the Certificate of Kingship here.
Roy’s first stop was the Adventurers’ Guild.
Compared to the major trading firms and the Mage’s Association, it was a place where information flowed most freely and was also the easiest to get in and out of.
However, Roy didn’t head straight to his destination; instead, he first went to a deserted alley to change his outfit.
[Shadowed Veils]
[Description]: A mysterious black hooded cloak, hand-crafted from black silk threads from the distant Dark Woods, infused with mysterious magical energy, made by the first era’s dark elves, awarded to the strongest dark elven swordsmen throughout the ages. It vanished when the Dark Woods were destroyed in the first era’s elven conflicts.
[Effect]: Emits extraordinary dark attribute waves, conceals facial features, forges breath, and simultaneously hides extraordinary fluctuations, preventing enemies from probing the user’s level.
[Price: 100 Favor Points]
100 Favor Points isn’t cheap, but it’s something he can manage.
Roy hadn’t forgotten about the cultists lurking in the shadows, watching him closely.
According to Roland’s notes, those guys were likely also searching for the Certificate of Kingship.
Once he was out of the stronghold of the academy and exposed in public, he could easily attract the attention of the cultists, so it was wise to play it safe.
The Adventurers were a mixed bag, and blending in with them would be the best disguise.
At that point, he could reveal himself as the Sword Demon; if he really ran into the cultists, he wouldn’t have to worry.
You want to catch Roy? What does that have to do with me, the Sword Demon?
