Chapter 100: The Princess’s Protection
“Why would the Lionheart Knight team up with the Nightingale from the Emerald Council?”
“I heard they’re classmates; maybe they have a good relationship?”
“Tch, classmates? Really just that?”
Amidst the bustling audience, the blonde girl remained silent, starkly contrasting with the surrounding excitement.
Alice had suggested joining the fray, but Roy told her she wasn’t strong enough yet, and that the Trial was dangerous; she needed to wait patiently.
The girl pressed a hand to her aching chest, quietly watching her master and friend walk side by side, a wave of deep envy washing over her heart.
As a maid, it was only natural to obey her master’s orders.
It should be natural…
She bit her lip tightly, her small hand resting on her chest unconsciously gripping her clothing.
On the vast grassland, Roy and Nia were charging ahead, leaving the chaotic mass of people behind.
In the distance, some could vaguely be seen breaking out from the surrounding net, but these lone members weren’t attacking each other.
The pressing urgency was to quickly enter the Mist Forest, shrouded in fog and rugged terrain, making it inconvenient for large groups to move together, effectively minimizing their numerical advantage.
Roy’s aim was the same.
Though he feared not being surrounded, engaging in prolonged combat on the plains would not only reveal their trump cards but also waste excess energy and time.
Having dual bloodlines granted immense power, but the consumption was terrifying; setting aside the “Iron Blood,” the “False King” was ill-suited for drawn-out battles.
But just as they were nearing the edge of the Mist Forest, a group of upperclassmen emerged from the jungle, blocking their path.
These individuals were dark-skinned and expressionless, with a tall, sexy leader in a sleeveless black shirt and short hair. Her slender form was adorned with well-toned muscles, exuding a daring elegance.
Roy immediately recognized her identity.
Nick, the core member of the South Sea faction, ranked 8!
In the original story, she was a villain in a different plotline.
Not only she, but also the dozen behind her were all frontline members of the South Sea faction, far from lowly underclassmen.
Clearly, they had prepared, aiming specifically for them.
Roy scanned the crowd, raised a hand to stop the eager Nia beside him, and smiled, “Senior, we have no grievances with the South Sea faction; is this really necessary?”
Nick wore no smile, her tone cold and firm, “Roy Ainbrad, it was you who broke the rules first.”
“Students from lower grades traditionally do not involve themselves in the Seven-Colored Trials, and upperclass factions do not attack them, ensuring the former’s development while safeguarding the interests of the latter.”
“Of course, as you said, we bear no ill will towards each other, and I have no intention of fighting you. So…”
Looking up, Nick delivered a haughty and chilling ultimatum, “We’re all people of standing, let’s not make this too ugly. Just crush your magic crystal and withdraw.”
Rather than persuasion, this was blatant disdain.
Nia would never be one to back down; she let out a playful whistle, full of scorn, “Oh, really? Just because you’re one year ahead, you act so big?”
“And what if we don’t?”
Nick’s brows furrowed, but then she burst into laughter.
“Nia Molly, have you lost your mind? Can’t you see the difference in strength?”
With their numerical advantage, it would be child’s play to eliminate both of you!
As the crowd closed in, Nia let out a cold snort, fearlessly drawing her dual blades.
“How will we know if we don’t fight?”
But just then, Roy stopped Nia a second time, who was ready to take action.
“No need to waste time with them.”
His nonchalant attitude only further irked the South Sea faction’s core, but just as she was about to clench her fist, a voice, more arrogant, authoritative, and oppressive than hers, came from behind Roy.
“Are you brave enough to lay a hand on my knight?”
Before their eyes was a blazing crimson fire.
Nick looked on from a distance, stunned.
There, a red-haired girl, wrapped in flames that twisted the very air, walked through the grass, each step turning the surroundings to ash.
Like a lion that had emerged from the flames.
Behind her were knights, equally armed, fierce-looking, bearing numerous wounds but filled with battle intent.
The Lionheart faction?
How is that possible? A group of newcomers managed to fight their way out of the chaos that quickly?
Nick’s surprise wasn’t unfounded.
The unspoken rule that lower-grade factions couldn’t participate in trials exists because lower grades are typically too weak, far beneath the power already honed by the upperclass students in the Academy.
But the Lionheart’s kin cannot be judged by common sense.
While other nations’ extraordinary beings eagerly took to battle training only after enrollment, Lionheart’s members began slaying magical beasts and dueling from a young age; even daughters of noble families willingly wielded blades.
In terms of practical combat experience, they weren’t much worse than the upperclassmen of other nations.
The appearance of the Lionheart princess undoubtedly put Nick in a difficult position.
Nonetheless, she couldn’t believe that Charlotte would wage war against the South Sea faction just for the Nightingale!
“Lionheart princess, we only came for Nia Molly; I warn you not to meddle!”
Charlotte frowned irritably, scoffing, “What you’re up to doesn’t concern me.”
“What?”
“I came solely for my knight; that’s all.”
As those words fell, all members of the South Sea faction turned to the black-haired boy.
They had assumed Roy’s assistance to Nia was at Charlotte’s command, but how could Charlotte phrase it as if all of this was just for Roy?
Charlotte narrowed her eyes, stepping in front of Roy, unlawfully declaring, “Scram, don’t make this too ugly.”
“Charlotte! Even as a princess, you’re just a newcomer in this Academy; do you really think I won’t touch you?”
Such bluntness instantly enraged Nick.
Nick swung her fist, creating a turbulent wave in the air that formed a ten-meter tall giant fist.
The South Sea faction, led by her, all struck together, vowing to make the arrogant Lionheart pay the price.
But soon, they realized that the Lionheart faction was even more eager, especially Charlotte, leading the way with a crazed grin, wishing nothing more than to get into a fight.
Indeed, she was provoking Nick.
Enjoying a good brawl was one thing.
Moreover, if she didn’t fight, how would she have a chance to show off in front of Roy?!
As a massive punch came crashing down, with waves howling and sea winds stirring, flattening large patches of grassland, even the Lionheart members couldn’t help but lean back slightly from the terrifying force.
However, the red-haired princess charged against the tide, her fingers clawed as she lashed out!
Archery was merely a hobby for Charlotte.
Close combat was the true forte of the Lionheart!
