Chapter 121: The First Glimpse of Morning
No one expected that the Azure Trial, a grand event at the Academy, would be infiltrated by All Things Wither, nor did they anticipate that this crisis would come to an end so swiftly.
Everyone credited the timely response of the Sage Booker, believing that the resolution of the crisis depended on the efforts of the Academy’s rescue team.
Though each member of the rescue team had witnessed the terrifying power of the progeny of the Evil God and the earth-shattering bloodlight of god-slaying, they were bound by a gag order and could only remain silent to the outside world.
However, for the families of most students, the fact that their children were unharmed was already a blessing.
Outside the Academy’s medical building, the lights shone brightly, and the crowd was loud. Nobles and commoners alike were solely concerned about their children, coming to check on those caught in the attack.
Many students had been eroded by the miasma, some even to the brink of death. Yet, with the Academy’s medical expertise and the support of the Holy Light Church, most students were now out of danger.
In fact, quite a few were already able to leave the hospital and return home.
However, in the main hall of the medical building, two figures stood out against the backdrop of weeping and worry.
“Roy was taken away by the Verdant Council? On what grounds?”
The red-haired princess’s voice darkened with displeasure, her brows furrowing in annoyance.
Even though Charlotte wasn’t tall, she possessed an aura that commanded respect, like a lion draped in flames.
Under this intimidating presence, the nurse responsible for reception couldn’t help but shrink her neck in trepidation.
An older doctor could only manage a bitter smile and said, “Your Highness, please don’t misunderstand. The Verdant Council acted out of goodwill. Mr. Roy’s vitality has been depleted, and there’s no one more qualified than the descendants of elves for nurturing life.”
Charlotte’s expression softened a bit.
Hearing this, it seemed the Verdant Council had specifically taken Roy for more advanced treatment, which wasn’t bad at all.
It certainly matched Roy’s feelings towards that nightingale from the Verdant Council.
Still, Charlotte couldn’t shake the sense that something was off, but she couldn’t put her finger on it.
“So, is our master alright?” asked the little maid beside her, her light blue eyes filled with worry.
“Although he’s still unconscious, he’s no longer in critical condition.”
Alice’s eyes sparkled slightly, “Then…”
“Then when can we see him?” The princess inquired impatiently.
As Roy’s attending physician, the doctor naturally knew the specifics. Otherwise, he wouldn’t be able to easily release a patient.
“Given my estimates, he should wake up in a day or two. However, a period of rest is still necessary.”
“I see…”
Healing and recuperation. That means they wouldn’t be able to see their master for a while.
There was nothing they could do about it.
But as long as their master was safe, that was enough.
She thought this way, but the slight droop of Alice’s gaze betrayed the disappointment in her heart.
Charlotte was equally disappointed.
Comparisons were always daunting.
Seeing the little maid looking lost and pathetic, Charlotte felt embarrassed to be overly anxious.
She wasn’t like Alice, who would be devastated after a few days without seeing someone.
Besides, they’d see him in a couple of days; it wasn’t that urgent, right?
With that in mind, Charlotte, in a sisterly manner, patted Alice on the shoulder and comforted her, “It’s alright, we’ll visit him once he wakes up. With the Verdant Council taking care of him, there’s nothing for us to worry about.”
“Roy wouldn’t want us to worry about him like this either.”
Alice blinked, feeling a deep respect for the composed and mature princess: “Just as expected from Charlotte; you really understand our master.”
Feeling the little maid’s admiring gaze, Charlotte couldn’t help but smile, standing a bit taller in satisfaction.
This gave her a sense of fulfillment as an older sister, along with a feeling of superiority in knowing Roy well.
Of course, she wanted to see Roy herself, but to set an example for the little maid, a day or two was nothing to endure.
After all, they would see him eventually.
Until sleep claimed her that night, Charlotte maintained this optimism.
The next morning.
Birds chirped cheerfully as the bright sun streamed into Roy’s room.
As his consciousness awakened, the first scent to greet him was the fragrance of jasmine, and the first sight was a cascade of soft green hair, reminiscent of the essence of the forest.
The first thing he found in his arms was something firm and beautiful, like jade, radiating a warm scent…
A soft groan escaped, startling Roy wide awake in an instant.
Wait a minute, why was this girl sleeping in his bed?!
No, where was this place?!
Roy looked around and realized this was not a hospital room or an operating room, but rather a beautifully decorated chamber full of Verdant Council vibes.
Elegant decor, very stylish.
But with a hint of elvish whimsy!
Roy was left dazed, unable to comprehend what had happened.
Just then, the elven girl beside him slowly opened her eyes.
Her eyes, as clear as jade, sparkled with a lazy charm, making the beautiful morning seem even more delightful.
But her next words were downright shocking.
“You’re awake?”
“Last night was amazing.”
Roy gasped in disbelief, looking like a girl caught in a scandal as he clutched his body, panicking, “Last, last night? What did you do to me?!”
The girl giggled, sweetly and charmingly, and batted her eyelashes, “Oh come on, last night was so intense; don’t pretend you forgot. You’ll have to take responsibility for me!”
“Re, responsibility…”
Roy muttered, his eyes gradually losing their luster.
Could it be that without him knowing, he had crossed that line?!
Damn it! Why couldn’t he remember his first time in life…
Noticing the pale look on the young boy’s face, Nia subtly pouted.
Look at his gloomy expression; he really didn’t want to have that kind of relationship with her, did he?
“Need me to help jog your memory?” Nia said with a mischievous smile.
“Wait, wait a minute…”
As that delicate and exquisite face drew closer, Roy suddenly forgot to breathe in his nervousness.
Time seemed to freeze.
Only the fresh morning breeze and the scent of jasmine flowed gently.
But just as the two were a kiss apart, Nia suddenly burst into laughter.
Not the sultry kind, but a boisterous, mocking laugh.
She laughed until tears rolled down her cheeks.
“Ha ha ha ha! You believed it! You actually believed it?!”
“???”
“I’m just kidding! I didn’t do anything at all.” Nia wiped her tears, unable to contain herself as if she were looking at a fool: “You lost too much life force and passed out, so I was just using the Source of Life, West Wind to help replenish you.”
Hearing this, Roy recalled just how terrible his condition had been; he hadn’t been in a state to even think about such things.
Excessive blood loss, internal injuries, extraordinary power completely drained, and most importantly, his vitality had been consumed too much, leaving him weak and immobile.
But now, most of his injuries had healed, and his extraordinary power was slowly recovering.
If the Source of True Blood was a spear for violence, then the Source of Life, West Wind was the healing nectar.
Only the Source of Life, West Wind, such pure life force, could provide such substantial nourishment in just one night.
“Besides, doing that kind of thing would definitely leave traces, look how flustered you are.”
Nia covered her mouth with a smirk: “You little virgin.”
Roy stiffened.
His fists tightened.
This girl was really asking for it!
But considering she had saved his life, he ultimately relaxed his fists.
“Alright, alright, if you’re fine, get up; you’re heavy enough to crush me!”
Roy waved the blanket away with exasperation, preparing to get out of bed.
But as he did, a big problem arose.
