Chapter 5: Roy’s Invitation
Roy noticed that something was off with Alice.
The little maid kept her head down, silent, seemingly trying to avoid making eye contact, and looked just out of place in the lively atmosphere around the dining table.
She was like Cinderella being bullied by a wicked stepmother, the only pale figure in a vibrant tapestry.
Thinking it over, ever since school started, he had been wrapped up in chaotic matters. He had promised to take Alice to the city for a stroll but kept delaying it.
Alice never complained, as if all this was simply to be expected.
With a sense of guilt, Roy said to the two girls in front of him, “Sorry, I already have plans for the first day of vacation.”
He looked at the blonde little maid across from him. “I’m going out with Alice.”
Both girls froze for a moment.
Alice, the one mentioned, slowly raised her head in confusion. After several seconds, she pointed at herself, disbelief written all over her face. “Master?”
Roy found her clumsy response amusing. “What’s wrong? Do you have plans for tomorrow?”
“No,” Alice shook her head.
“Then don’t you want to go out with me?”
“No!!!” Alice shook her head like a rattling drum.
“But…”
Alice looked back and forth between the two girls, hesitating to say anything.
Clearly, they were the ones who invited the master first; was that really okay?
Unexpectedly, Nia waved her hand and said lightly, “It’s fine, you two just go have fun.”
“Unlike someone, I’m very generous.” She stole a sidelong glance at Charlotte while speaking.
“Hmph.” Charlotte slightly pouted but still smiled at Alice, saying, “Don’t worry about us. The vacation is long; there’s no rush in the next couple of days.”
Roy was usually laid-back but rarely took back a decision that had been made. Plus, even though Alice had a close relationship with him, it was not ambiguous—it posed no threat to them.
Getting into a contest wouldn’t be worth the trouble and might just irritate Roy, especially since both girls had a good impression of Alice.
Seeing that neither girl was inclined to object, Roy breathed a silent sigh of relief and turned back to Alice, smiling even more gently. “So, what’s your answer?”
Alice stopped hesitating, her light blue eyes growing brighter.
“As a maid, it’s only natural to accompany my master.” The seemingly plain reply had a slight rise in tone, like wind chimes swaying in the situation.
He had neglected the little maid for too long; it was time to spend more time with her.
Besides, wasn’t he also looking forward to sharing the holiday with her?
Watching the little maid secretly joyful, taking big bites of her food, Roy could feel his heart racing and had to sip on his hot milk to calm the excitement.
Then, Nia’s words almost made him spit out the milk.
“So, you two are going on a date tomorrow?”
“Hey!” both Roy and Charlotte glared at Nia simultaneously.
“A date?” Alice blinked in confusion.
Nia expertly chimed in, “It means just two people hanging out together.”
“Since it’s a date, why not let me, your senior, stay over tonight to guide you properly!” Nia patted her chest, volunteering before turning to Roy, “Is that okay?”
So this was her plan. Nia loved lively gatherings, and Roy was happy for Alice to have another friend.
Thinking that, Roy casually said, “Just don’t trouble Alice too much.”
“Yay!” The elven girl excitedly hugged Alice tight upon getting approval.
The girls hugging is supposed to be a heartwarming scene, but Nia’s figure was so remarkable that the little maid found it hard to escape from her embrace.
At that moment, Roy didn’t even know who to be envious of.
Meanwhile, Charlotte frowned. “Wait, you’re going to stay at Roy’s place?”
Nia looked up, somewhat bewildered. “Huh? What’s wrong?”
“Unmarried men and women living under the same roof is too…”
Too shameless!
Charlotte’s mind was screaming, but her words stumbled out.
Being born into royalty, Charlotte was already reserved, and as a model student, she always listened attentively and abided by the rules.
Even with Alice present, Nia’s bold move to stay in the guys’ dorm was beyond Charlotte’s imagination.
But if she had to say whether she wanted to or not…
She secretly glanced at Roy, her petite black-silk-clad foot gently kicking him under the table.
Roy could see through the princess’s true feelings, sighed inwardly, but smoothly offered, “There’s a free room; would you like to stay too, Charlotte?”
Although Charlotte’s lips curled up in a satisfied smile, she still insisted on being reserved, fiddling with her hair, “Well, since it’s a rare invitation from you, and no one checks the dorm during vacation…”
“If you don’t want to stay, you don’t have to.” Nia chimed in.
“Who said I didn’t want to?!” Charlotte slammed her hand on the table, glaring fiercely, “How could I not when there’s a chance to be with Roy…”
She abruptly stopped mid-sentence.
Roy was resting his chin on his hand, grinning as he enjoyed her genuine words.
“If you want to stay with me, you’re always welcome.”
Charlotte’s face instantly flushed, she hastily averted her gaze and managed to mumble, “I-I’m just here to help Alice with her date, and to keep an eye on that green tea elf, that’s all.”
“Let’s just go with that.”
This small room was originally designed for six people, so there were plenty of empty bedrooms; it would be more than sufficient for the two girls to move in.
However, Nia insisted on sleeping with Alice, claiming it was to help Alice make plans for her date, while Charlotte casually joined in for the fun.
So, the three girls squeezed into Alice’s room just like that.
Nia had often come to Roy’s place to eat and stay, so now she casually tossed her short boots aside and jumped onto Alice’s bed, rolling around.
“Hey, Alice still loves that little dog toy, huh?”
“Nia!” The little maid seemed somewhat troubled.
“Don’t worry, I won’t break it; after all, it’s a gift from Roy. Tsk, I’m a bit envious.”
Nia lay on her side, propping her head up, squinting at the blonde girl with a playful glance.
“Since Charlotte is here, how about sharing your sweet and sour memories with Roy?”
“……I’ll go tidy the bedding first.” Alice quickly escaped the room somewhat flustered.
After the blonde girl left, Charlotte finally had the chance to chat properly with the enigmatic elven girl.
“I say, what are you really up to?”
“What am I up to?”
“Don’t play dumb; you think I can’t see through you?”
To actively retreat in front of Alice, while deliberately mentioning a date, this green tea elf was clearly trying to create that kind of atmosphere, acting like a love accomplice.
Honestly, Charlotte couldn’t understand this spirit of self-sacrifice and strictness towards oneself.
Nia, hearing this, had her smile slightly falter, and her gaze turned dark.
