Chapter 25: New Semester, New Woman
A month of vacation flew by in the blink of an eye.
At the opening ceremony, the students in the auditorium were still immersed in the bliss of their break, looking utterly drained and lacking enthusiasm, radiating a strong resistance to returning to school.
Even though the academy’s courses weren’t particularly harsh, they simply couldn’t compare to the freedom of vacation life.
The girls around Roy were no different.
Aside from Alice, who sat quietly beside him with a blank expression, Charlotte and Nia nearby also wore faces of displeasure.
With the start of the semester, there would be curfews and room checks, meaning they couldn’t stay over at Roy’s place every night like during the break.
However, the black-haired boy was an exception.
Roy wore a faint smile of relief, as if he had finally broken free from torment.
Finally over!
For others, it was a month of indulgence and revelry, but for him, it had been sheer torture.
Almost every night, the two girls would sneak into his room by any means necessary, making excuses to scamper in, ambushing him, and in the end, they’d just skip the pretense and go straight to hugging and cuddling.
Is this even reasonable?
While the girls satisfied themselves with goodnight kisses and slipped into dreams, the boy, stirred and burning inside, had no way to vent this loneliness, tossing and turning every night in sheer frustration.
By the end of the month, Roy, as an extraordinary being, felt mentally exhausted.
Outsiders, however, saw it differently; they thought Roy was being tormented in another sense by the two beautiful girls, inspiring envy.
If Roy found out what they were thinking, he’d probably draw his sword in anger right then and there.
Still, with the new semester upon him, Roy was finally liberated from his suffering.
Charlotte was busy with Lionheart faction affairs. In fact, most students were still unaccustomed to campus life in their first semester; it was the second semester that was the golden period for officially forming factions. The earlier flashy appearance of the Lionheart faction during the Blue Trial felt a bit rushed.
And Nia could no longer laze around like in the previous semester—Janthea personally wrote letters to the teachers, asking them to not let her slack off and to ensure her daughter focused on her studies.
Nia strongly protested this, but it was of no use. To be honest, her grades were atrocious; as their homeroom teacher put it, stepping on the exam paper would earn more points than Nia. Given this situation, pushing Nia a little was only reasonable.

With her mother interfering and presenting such legitimate reasons, Roy couldn’t really help her out.
Since both girls were busy, Roy finally had the time to focus on his own matters.
First up was the Certificate of Kingship.
Roy wrote a letter to the Mage Association, asking if he could participate in any upcoming exhibitions or exchanges. However, he was informed that the association was currently preoccupied with dealing with cultist infiltrators and could not accommodate external guests for the time being, asking him to wait a bit longer.
Roy’s wait turned into a month.
Despite news of the association striking against the cultists and making headlines, greatly boosting morale.
To Roy, however, this was not good news.
They’d caught so many small fry, yet still hadn’t uncovered where the infiltrators were hiding. The cultist within the association was hiding deep, and even those cultists they managed to catch could very well be pawns used to disrupt the investigation.
With the association preoccupied, Roy didn’t want to bother them anymore or attract unnecessary attention from the cultists.
Next up was his training in Ironsoul, which Roy had not slacked on.
In reality, Roy wasn’t lacking in talent; Sequence 8 was quite rare among first-year students. However, with so many prodigies around him, he felt under immense pressure.
Especially since Alice had reached Sequence 7; it was quite embarrassing for him as her master to be lower than her.
Currently, his Ironsoul had almost hit a bottleneck, just needing a catalyst.
There were plenty of practical events in the next semester, so Roy wasn’t particularly anxious.
So recently, it was actually Alice who was busy the most.
“Well then, I’ll stop here. I wish all students a fruitful new semester and happiness in life.”
As the kind words of the grandpa dean echoed through the auditorium, the students dispersed in a hasty scurry.
Roy exchanged nods with the princess, who was surrounded by Lionheart students in the distance, bidding her farewell, and then saw Nia being dragged away by her teacher, wearing a pained mask, shaking his head in amusement.
“Alice, let’s head back.”
“Master, are we training today too?”
“Yes, we can’t slack off on practical training. Even with the semester starting, we must keep at it.”
That’s right; during the break, Roy hadn’t been distracted by the girls; he hadn’t fallen behind in his destined saintess training plan either.
Aside from helping Alice adapt to her extraordinary abilities, another crucial topic was how to deal with cultists.
Alice’s combat skills weren’t bad; after all, she had fought alongside the army against the dragon and gained plenty of experience.
In fact, every extraordinary being from Lionheart Kingdom had considerable fighting experience.
However, dealing with those cunning cultists wasn’t quite enough yet.
During their last encounter with the Necromancy faction, Alice suffered considerable losses due to her lack of understanding of cultists. If she had been able to dodge the Hand of Titan or shake off the undead, targeting the caster directly, the battle wouldn’t have been so dire.
It wasn’t surprising; with cultists having unconventional methods, insufficient intel could lead to being caught off guard in their first encounter.
And what Roy needed to supplement her with was precisely that.
With cultists keeping an eye on him, if Alice stayed by his side, she would likely have to confront them in the future too.
For that, he needed to teach Alice how to deal with those jerks as well.
As Roy strolled down the aisle of the auditorium, he casually asked the girl following closely behind, “Let me quiz you. What are the characteristics of the fallen from the Dragon Cult?”
Alice answered immediately, “Low-rank fallen have sturdy dragon scales and claws. Priests and higher ranks of the fallen may have different additional abilities based on their worshipped dragon.”
“What about when you encounter the cultists of All Things Wither?”
Alice answered without hesitation, “Try to finish them off quickly to avoid getting dragged into a prolonged battle by their self-healing abilities.”
“And what if different cultists attack at once?”
At this, Alice faltered a bit, looking a little resentful, “Master, you haven’t taught me that.”
Roy burst into laughter.
Of course, he hadn’t taught her.
No matter how strong an extraordinary being is, they’re always limited by their bloodline abilities and have their weaknesses. If overwhelmed by different cultists, the only outcome is often the same.
Unless…
A light laugh floated from behind him, like the delightful notes of classic music.
“Quite simple; use different abilities and tactics to deal with different cultists simultaneously, picking them off one by one.”
“Is that so?” Alice asked thoughtfully as she looked at Roy.
However, Roy didn’t have time to answer her question.
The boy stiffly turned his head and gazed at the graceful girl with long hair and a charming smile, lingering there in shock.
Why was she here?!
Leanna Cassandra!
