Chapter 30: Not a Bad Woman?
Tonight, the Student Council Clubhouse, which usually fell into darkness at this hour, was brightly lit and filled with elegant music and the sound of laughter.
All because today was the Student Council’s recruitment banquet.
Alice, accompanied by two senior council members, walked through the spacious corridor and headed straight to the Student Council President’s office.
Inside the office, one side of the wall was a large floor-to-ceiling window, providing a view of the entire courtyard. In front of the window stood a luxurious and comfortable sofa, bathed in warm yellow light that added a pleasant glow to the office, highlighting the graceful figure sitting elegantly on the couch.
Here, she finally met the brown-haired girl who had invited her for a chat, Leanna.
“Welcome, Miss Alice. We may have met before, but we never had a proper conversation,” Leanna gestured to the seat beside her, “Please, take a seat.”
“You’re too polite, President.”
Alice nodded slightly to show her respect and then sat down beside Leanna in a manner that was almost excessively proper.
Her etiquette was impeccable, but her light blue eyes maintained the usual coldness Alice was known for.
“President, I’ll be direct. Please don’t bother my master anymore. Even if you intend to go after me, it won’t matter. I won’t go against my master’s wishes.”
Truth be told, Alice had no interest in the Student Council’s recruitment banquet at all. She only came to see Leanna because the latter wanted to discuss Roy.
“If you keep bothering my master, I won’t hold back, even if you are the president,” the young girl said, her gaze darkening as her expression turned icy.
Seeing Alice like this, Leanna felt as if she were facing a brooding hound, ready to reveal its teeth, or a sword unsheathed at any moment.
However, Leanna’s expression remained unchanged as she chuckled teasingly, “You really are quite loyal.”
“But it seems you’ve misunderstood. I’m not an enemy of Roy,” Leanna paused, “Have I ever harmed him?”
Alice was momentarily taken aback.
It seemed she hadn’t, after all.
But Charlotte had said that pretty, friendly-looking ones like her were all bad women!
“Even so, you’re not allowed to get close to my master!”
“Why not? I have no intention of being Roy’s enemy. Why can’t I get close to him?” Leanna squinted her eyes and asked casually, “Is this something a mere maid like you can decide? Can’t I just want to be friends with Roy?”
“……” Alice fell silent at this string of questions.
As the other party stated, as a maid, unless Roy had an enemy, she had no right to stop anyone from approaching him.
If anything, she should be supportive of such a graceful and charming woman wanting to get close to her master.
However, the thought of Roy potentially becoming closer to Leanna, like how Charlotte and Nia did before, made Alice feel a strange sourness and irritation in her heart.
Just then, Leanna snapped her fingers, interrupting Alice’s chaotic thoughts.
“Honestly, you don’t have to be so wary. I just want to know more about Roy.”
“Why?”
“Is it strange to want to get to know an outstanding junior?”
“But, he doesn’t like you!”
“That’s precisely why I’m troubled.” Leanna pretended to sigh with disappointment.
“I want to befriend him, but I keep being misunderstood. It’s all because I don’t know him well enough. So…” Leanna looked up and gazed warmly at Alice, “I want to start by understanding him through the person closest to him.”
The closest person!
Alice’s heart stirred as her vision wavered.
“No, Alice only…”
Before she could defend herself, Leanna leaned in and grasped Alice’s small hand, speaking earnestly, “So, within what you can say, could you tell me more about Roy?”
Looking into those slightly moist eyes, Alice suddenly thought that maybe she wasn’t so bad after all.
It seemed she really just wanted to befriend her master. As his maid, she had no right to stop her, and as his closest person, maybe she should help her…
After a moment of silence, Alice finally sighed as if she had given up.
“What do you want to know about my master?”
————————————
After learning that Alice had been taken to the Student Council Clubhouse, Roy hurried over immediately.
He was so careless! How could he forget to remind Alice not to interact with Leanna!
Maybe Leanna wasn’t as interested in Alice as she was in the original story, but she could very likely use Alice to threaten him!
Don’t be fooled by Alice’s strength; Leanna was also in Sequence 7, and as a black magician, she was full of cunning tricks. Plus, it was her territory—if things escalated, Alice would definitely be at a disadvantage.
Thinking about this, Roy felt a fiery tension in his heart.
As he arrived at the clubhouse entrance, he saw three upperclassmen wearing black armbands—first-year students could only be interns until the recruitment was over.
He remembered that the purple-haired girl at the front was Kreya, a timid and clumsy yet extraordinary being in Sequence 7, and Leanna’s right hand.
As the three moved toward him, Roy’s palms flashed crimson, and his eyes glowed with a fiery red.
If they dared to stop him, he wouldn’t show any mercy.
However, contrary to his expectations, Kreya unexpectedly smiled sweetly and gestured for him to go ahead, “Mr. Roy, the President and Miss Alice are waiting for you in the office upstairs.”
Roy was slightly taken aback but didn’t ask further. Keeping an eye on their energy, he quickened his pace into the clubhouse.
No matter what trick she seemed to be plotting, everything would be revealed once they met.
As a black magician, Leanna possessed skills that rivaled cultists, and being in Sequence 7, she also had control over both the Student Council and the black magician faction. She was undoubtedly a complicated opponent.
Even disregarding the potential disaster, Roy didn’t want to easily make enemies with someone like her.
But if she dared to lay a hand on Alice, Roy wouldn’t mind tearing her face off! Right now, both his personal strength and influence were not far behind hers!
Before long, Roy reached the office door, kicked it open, and stormed inside.
“Alice! Are you okay…?!”
Roy charged in angrily, practically ready to wield a sword.
However, the scene he imagined with Alice being chained up, taken down, or defeated by a witch didn’t occur.
On the contrary, the brown-haired girl had a friendly grasp on Alice’s hand, and they were laughing together, creating a remarkably harmonious atmosphere.
It should be noted that Alice was usually very taciturn, barely uttering a word to anyone aside from him.
But upon seeing Roy, Alice immediately returned to his side as if she had been shot from a cannon.
“Master? What are you doing here?”
“Of course, I came to find you. Has that girl done anything to you?” Roy asked while scanning the girl with suspicion.
“Nothing,” Alice shook her head, though she hesitated, “The President doesn’t seem like a bad woman.”
At these words, Roy cast a cynical glance at the brown-haired girl sitting on the sofa, leisurely sipping coffee.
“Not a bad woman?”
“Alice, you wait outside for a bit. I need to talk to her alone.”
