Chapter 39: Senior, Come Teach Me
Jason paused for a moment, then lowered his head slightly. The light blurred his glasses and gaze, and the polite smile and scholarly demeanor vanished, replaced by the coldness and pressure of someone in a position of power.
In the distance, the female fans seemed to sense something amiss and hesitated to approach further.
“Are you planning to make an enemy of me?”
Roy didn’t care about Jason’s question nor was he intimidated by his imposing presence. Instead, he stepped forward and slapped Jason’s shoulder with some force: “That depends on whether you plan to get in my way, Senior.”
With that, Roy left without saying goodbye.
With Charlotte’s Lionheart faction backing him, plus Nia, Alice, and other high-level fighters, along with his own strength rivaling Sequence 6, he could easily replace the Golden Sand faction, standing toe-to-toe with the Dark Mage faction and the South Sea faction.
Compared to the chaos that cultists often stirred, Jason’s threat barely registered with Roy.
As long as Jason didn’t come looking for trouble, Roy couldn’t be bothered with him.
But if Jason insisted on being difficult, Roy wouldn’t mind putting him in his place a little.
Ultimately, whether or not to formally ally with Leanna still depended on the Certificate of Kingship and wasn’t something Jason could influence.
However, after all the commotion, Roy had lost interest in continuing their sparring. Since this was just an elective, he thought he might as well skip out.
It was currently afternoon, and aside from students who had elective classes, most others strolled around the campus having fun, appearing quite relaxed.
Even nobles and extraordinary beings were no different from ordinary folks in their leisure time.
With no specific plans and bored on his own, Roy pondered which girl he should approach to pass the time.
Should he help Charlotte with her faction affairs?
Should he mock Nia, who was stuck in remedial classes?
Or perhaps, check on his little maid…
As he walked past the shopping street within the academy, considering whether to bring them some snacks, he noticed a crowd gathered up ahead, with the unmistakable aura of extraordinary power in the air.
Curious, Roy moved closer but his expression turned sour.
A group of seniors from the South Sea faction in blue uniforms had cornered several members of the Lionheart faction dressed in deep red uniforms, while the weapon shop that belonged to the Lionheart faction lay in ruins.
Not only was this the commercial area of the Academy City, but the academy itself had various shops selling extraordinary items and luxury goods.
Though it was just student spending, the flow of funds and extraordinary resources was no small matter. Thus, one of the key aspects of faction conflicts was seizing territory and shop space.
Yet, to outright attack like this was too blatant.
The leading Lionheart boy spoke up angrily: “We bought this place from the Golden Sand faction! If you have a problem, go talk to them, what’s the meaning of this?!”
Roy recognized him; he was the eldest son of a certain count, named Eik, with strength at Sequence 8 and considered pretty decent for a first-year. He was the leader of those Lionheart members.
Unfortunately, there were nearly a dozen from the South Sea faction, half of whom were at least Sequence 6. The leading young man with dark skin lounged with his coat open, his hands in his pockets, clearly not taking the count’s son seriously and bursting into laughter.
“Kid, factions settle things with fists. Aren’t you Lionheart folks all about martial prowess? If you’re not satisfied…”
The dark-skinned youth mockingly gestured towards Eik, prompting laughter from the surrounding South Sea faction members.
The Lionheart members gritted their teeth, itching to jump in and fight.
However, Eik intervened just in time, whispering a few words to stop them from escalating the conflict.
A smart choice. The South Sea faction outnumbered them and had come looking for trouble. If a real fight broke out, not only would they not benefit, but they might provoke further retaliation.
Roy silently nodded in approval.
Resources and territory were finite. In the original story, the Lionheart faction engaged in numerous conflicts with the South Sea faction to rise, ultimately leading to a direct confrontation between Charlotte and Jason Hassan.
At this moment, the confrontation hadn’t formally begun as Charlotte was still gathering her strength.
What was happening now was just a small conflict that didn’t impact the bigger picture, so there was no need for him to intervene.
Just as Roy was about to turn away, he heard the blue-haired youth burst into crude laughter.
“A bunch of mice, just like your princess.”
Roy halted in his tracks.
This time, even Eik’s face turned dark.
The Reinhardt royal family was the pride of every Lionheart citizen, and Charlotte was a symbol of pride for the youth among them. How could they tolerate such humiliation?
“South Sea, watch your words!”
“What’s wrong? Not satisfied? I didn’t say anything, right? Charlotte Reinhardt may have the title of faction leader, but lately, she hasn’t even lifted a finger to protect a measly shop!” The black-skinned youth looked around mockingly, his tone dripping with disdain: “Everyone says Charlotte is imposing and royal, but it seems that’s all just talk!”
“Oh, or maybe she’s finally gotten wise, knowing that someone lower down the ladder should act like a good little junior?”
Laughter erupted from the South Sea faction members.
As Eik’s expression darkened and the Lionheart members showed fierce intent, while the South Sea faction members wore smug grins, the black-haired boy stepped boldly through the crowd, placing himself between the two factions.
“Using bloodline status and numbers to bully a few juniors? That’s not how a senior should act.”
Seeing the black-haired boy step forward, the Lionheart members’ eyes lit up, feeling reassured.
But the dark-skinned youth raised an eyebrow, showing a hint of caution. However, sensing Roy’s aura, his wariness quickly faded.
“I thought who it was; the Oath Knight has kept a low profile this semester, finally ready to make his appearance?”
Roy shrugged: “I can’t help it; even flies buzzing around my ear can get annoying.”
The dark-skinned youth’s eyebrow twitched, but he took a deep breath and forced a smile.
“Winning the Trial of Blue, huh? Just a Sequence 8, acting all big, aren’t you?”
The South Sea faction was not trapped in All Things Wither and was completely unaware of what had transpired during the Trial of Blue.
In the youth’s eyes, this black-haired boy relied on his two Sequence 7 female companions and Douglas’s goodwill to stumble into some achievements, barely ranking into the top four.
Even if he had some skills, what did it matter if he was just one of the best in Sequence 8? They had six Sequence 8 fighters; how could they not take him down?
“Let me show you how a senior teaches; being arrogant takes some real capital!”
The youth’s eyes turned cold as he suddenly moved with lightning speed, pushing towards Roy so quickly that no one else could react.
Eik barely had time to shout: “Stop! You think you can…?!”
But before he finished, his eyes widened in disbelief as he noticed Roy stood firm like a wall, and the South Sea youth was frozen in place, literally inches from Roy but unable to move any closer.
With a hint of dark golden light swirling, the young black-haired boy smiled lightly: “What’s the matter, senior? Come teach me, huh?”
