Chapter 41: A Small Wish
“Good thing the junior didn’t act rashly and stir up trouble; otherwise, even I wouldn’t be able to favor you.”
Leanna said this with a serious tone, but Roy just felt slightly speechless.
The “Black Magic: Serpent” is a lineage of serpent-like extraordinary beings, and that shadow snake earlier was clearly Leanna’s ability, “Shadow of the Dark Serpent.”
That thing can turn into a shadow and slip into the shadows of allies to gather intel. Leanna continuously sent her shadow snakes into the members of the student council’s shadows, and those members, completely unaware, were out patrolling, which allowed Leanna to build a powerful information network.
But as long as she wished, lower-tier extraordinary beings wouldn’t even be able to detect those little hidden things lurking in the shadows. Roy was sure that the fleeting little snake was purposely there to remind him.
Besides, the illustrious student council president surely didn’t have the time to handle such a trivial dispute herself.
Even though he wasn’t afraid of a direct confrontation, Roy had to admit that Leanna’s intervention indeed saved him quite a bit of trouble.
Thinking of this, Roy couldn’t help but chuckle a bit, feeling a mix of amusement and helplessness: “I really owe it to the senior this time.”
Leanna kept a straight face: “Your words are quite strange, junior. It was the South Sea faction that broke the school rules, and you didn’t do anything wrong. I certainly didn’t favor anyone specifically!”
Roy maintained his nonchalant tone, being quite polite: “Even so, I still have to thank the president for upholding justice for us.”
“The Lionheart faction owes you a favor.”
Unexpectedly, a playful glint flashed in Leanna’s eyes, and she shook her head, correcting him: “You’re mistaken.”
“If we must say, it’s not the Lionheart faction that’s in debt but you, junior.”
As she spoke, the girl took a step closer, crossing the personal space typically maintained between male and female classmates, wafting a subtle yet alluring scent of bellflower.
Roy subtly shifted away, inwardly sighing.
Great, I knew this witch wasn’t acting out of pure kindness; she must have her own agenda for helping this time!
Roy wanted to claim it was a matter of business, that the favor should fall on the Lionheart faction, but after a bit of shuffling, the topic still circled back to him.
“What do you think, Roy?”
Seeing Leanna inching closer, Eik and the others cast increasingly odd looks, leaving Roy with no choice but to admit: “Alright, I owe you a favor.”
Upon hearing this, Leanna pulled away, visibly pleased as she clapped her hands: “Then, to repay this favor, could junior Roy spend some time with me?”
“This…”
Looking at the girl’s enigmatic smile, Roy suddenly felt like backing out.
Although Leanna didn’t seem hostile towards him, he still struggled to deal with her.
Besides, they weren’t officially team members yet; getting too close wouldn’t be good, right?
A direct refusal would be rather impolite towards a lady, a senior, or even the student council president and a potential ally.
“It’s not that I can’t, but the Lionheart faction… ” Roy quietly threw Eik a look, full of hope for the newcomer.
Young man, it’s time to show your worth! After this is done, I’ll definitely say some good words to Charlotte for you; you won’t regret calling me ‘Sir’!
Eik, having risen to a small leadership role, certainly had some knack for reading the room.
Unfortunately, he only had a little of it.
Roy was in a bind!
It seemed he truly wanted to have a private rendezvous with the president!
To be fair, Eik stood with their princess and was even somewhat dissatisfied with Roy’s flirtatious behavior—however, having just been saved by Leanna, that small dissatisfaction was replaced with gratitude and admiration.
After some contemplation, Eik chuckled: “Sir Roy, feel free to go spend time with the president. I can handle things here in the faction.”
With that, Eik started calling the Lionheart faction members to pack up the stall, throwing Roy a smile before leaving.
What’s with this kid?! Can’t he read the room?! Roy’s lips twitched, silently rescinding his decision to speak highly of Eik.
“The faction doesn’t need you worrying, junior Roy,” Leanna raised an eyebrow.
“Seems that way.” Roy sighed in resignation.
He had no choice but to obediently follow in Leanna’s footsteps.
Roy and Leanna typically wouldn’t attract too much attention when appearing separately.
However, when they showed up together, it caused heads to turn, sparking hushed discussions among bystanders.
Feeling the gazes around them, Roy felt a wave of gloom wash over him, as if he could already see Charlotte and Nia fuming with anger at him again.
Suddenly, Leanna, who had been walking ahead, slowed down to stand before him.
“Junior Roy, no need to be so nervous, right?”
“The president is just joking.”
“Hmm? Did you forget how to address me?”
Leanna squinted her eyes suddenly, her slender, creamy-white finger poking Roy’s face unexpectedly.
Roy awkwardly called out: “Senior.”
Only then did Leanna withdraw her hand, beaming: “Yes, junior.”
Her smile was both adorably youthful and maturely voluptuous, leaving Roy a little unsettled.
Roy had to divert his gaze slightly and change the subject: “So, how does the senior want me to repay this favor?”
“Well…”
Leanna pressed the fingertip that had just poked Roy against her rosy, dewy lips, a playful yet strangely alluring gesture.
Looking at him with a smile, she formed an elusive curve: “What do you think?”
I think you have ulterior motives!
The memory of almost being enchanted was still fresh, and even though he knew she didn’t harbor any malice, it still made Roy feel uneasy.
Whew, could this girl be planning something outrageous with this favor?
In just a few seconds of hesitation, Leanna seized the opportunity to reveal her true intention, moving in a bit closer to whisper in Roy’s ear: “Don’t worry, I just want you to fulfill a small wish of mine.”
That warm breath made Roy shiver unexpectedly.
He leaped back a half step, warily locking eyes with Leanna, frowning: “What wish?”
Joining the student council to work for her? Or secretly handling the dirty jobs for the Black Magic faction? No matter what it was, he absolutely couldn’t easily agree to the witch’s sinister request!
But if he refused, what about the Certificate of Kingship? What if it ruined their relationship and he couldn’t even become allies?
While Roy was racking his brain on how to politely decline, Leanna suddenly turned around and glanced at a building behind them.
“This is my wish.”
Roy looked up and was momentarily dumbfounded.
A café?
The witch’s wicked wish?
Just that?
Roy felt a mix of irritation and confusion.
It’s just a coffee! Does it really need to be described with the grandiose word ‘wish’? If you didn’t know better, you might think you were asking me to do something murderous!
“So simple?”
“Yep, that simple.”
Leanna blinked innocently, then lightly teased with a chuckle: “Otherwise, were you perhaps expecting something strange?”
Recalling those frightening thoughts, Roy’s face flushed, but he ultimately stayed silent.
