Chapter 51: Defeat
The gigantic hand covered in snake scales slammed down, crashing violently against the water giant’s massive axe.
With a deafening roar, shockwaves erupted layer upon layer, unleashing a massive tsunami that swept all around indiscriminately, sending Extraordinary Beings flying, leaving only a few Sequence 7 members to barely avoid the waves and protect themselves.
Unless one had a golden-tier bloodline, mid-tier battles were simply not something low-tier Extraordinary Beings could get involved in.
This was probably the most intense faction struggle in history.
In fact, even the Academy, which usually took a hands-off approach to faction disputes, had to send out flying bird familiars to closely monitor the battlefield to prevent accidents.
Among the panicked members of the South Sea faction, only Jason ignored the cold wind and rain, his eyes wide open, fixed on the churning waves on the lake’s surface.
At that moment, Roy casually strolled up, holding a wine glass.
Jason clenched his fists stubbornly, declaring, “Even that witch is only Sequence 7; she can’t possibly contend with the Howling Sea Sentinel!”
“She can’t, but I borrowed something nice from her,” Roy shrugged.
“Even so, it’ll probably just end in mutual destruction!”
Having foreseen the outcome, Roy didn’t bother to argue, merely smiling in silence.
Both the Howling Sea Sentinel and the Titan’s Hand were Sequence 6 Extraordinary items, seemingly on par, both possessing tremendous destructive power.
But one was a counterfeit created by the descendants of the Titan clan, the other was a relic from a real mythological creature, clearly putting the latter ahead in rank.
Moreover, the wielder was the fated girl from the original work, that Serpent-Eyed Witch.
The output efficiency of any wand varied dramatically based on the user’s Extraordinary Power.
In Roy’s eyes, Leanna’s strike had far surpassed that of the previous Necromancy School‘s necromancer, bringing the Titan’s Hand to its utmost potential.
This nearly demonically gifted witch was only one step away from Sequence 6.
Leanna raised her wand high, yet it seemed hindered by an air wall, unable to descend. But as she unleashed her full power, a sinister grin appeared, and the final restraint was erased.
The skeletal wand came crashing down, accompanied by remnants from the Titan clan.
As if furious over the counterfeit’s defilement, the brown-scaled giant hand spread its fingers wide, like a roaring serpent, shooting forth with the speed of thunder!
The entire lake surface was stirred by this strike, as huge waves surged toward the mountains.
The water giant was pierced by this earth-shattering blow, finally unable to hold on any longer, collapsing heavily into the lake.
Underneath the pouring rain, a faint rainbow appeared.
The members of the South Sea faction couldn’t believe that their nation’s treasure, their last trump card, had fallen so easily, arguing and shouting, praying for that thing to rise again.
But Jason, as if having all the bones sucked out of him, felt his legs go weak and stumbled to the ground in despair.
He didn’t look at the battle unfolding on the lake; he merely stared blankly at the already shattered blue orb, speechless for a long time.
Even the last resort meant to save his life had completely failed, yet it still couldn’t change the situation.
He had originally intended to suppress a rising star as the southern prince, never imagining that he would be defeated so thoroughly.

That night was far from peaceful.
From the mansion stronghold within the campus to the shops outside, the South Sea faction and the Lionheart faction engaged in heated attacks and defenses.
Whether it was the Student Council or the security team, naturally, no one dared or could stop this dispute between Extraordinary Beings.
However, the outcome of this battle caught everyone off guard.
At dawn, the first to retreat were those blue figures, while the members clad in red uniforms of the faction stepped into the streets, celebrating their victory.
“As expected of the young master, you really did it, meow!” Qiao Ke cheered, holding his little sister as they joined the celebrating crowd.
Charlotte leaned tiredly against a wall, gazing at the pale dawn sky, letting out a long breath as if relieved.
But she didn’t linger in the victorious atmosphere for long, straightening herself up and leading the knights toward the mansion’s exit.
“Anyone still able to move, follow me to the South Sea Mansion.”
The young people shouted in unison, mistakenly thinking they were going to flaunt their victory in front of the defeated, unaware that their princess was more concerned about another person.
“Leanna, collaboration is one thing, but you’d better not get too carried away!”
On the other side, Roy and Jason sat back at the banquet hall’s table.
However, this time, under the pressure from the many black magicians, the South Sea faction members looked ashen, even the most ostentatious Kulan had humbly lowered his head, daring not to utter a word.
And beside Roy was a girl with a charming smile, chestnut hair, and a brown dress.
“Long time no see, Prince of the South. I remember you swore last time that you would make me unable to smile next time we fought,” Leanna teased, raising an eyebrow. “What a pity…”
Before she could finish, Leanna burst into laughter, like wind chimes soothing to the ears, exuding charm.
But Jason had no time to appreciate the girl’s laughter; anger surged, making his veins bulge.
“Leanna, I admit I’ve lost to Roy. But I haven’t lost to you! If I get a chance for a fair fight…”
“Oh? What an adorable bark. So there’s such a thing as fairness in faction battles? Next time you meet an enemy, you can nicely pray for their fairness, can’t you?”
“You…!”
Under Leanna’s blatant mockery, Jason was so furious he nearly knocked the table over, but just then, the black-haired boy between them coughed lightly, prompting them both to rein it in.
Looking at the two who were like fire and water, Roy couldn’t help but feel speechless.
No wonder Douglas and Jason were wary of the witch, one filled with dread, the other brimming with hostility. It seemed they had suffered enough psychological trauma after losing to Leanna.
“A loss is a loss; I trust that the esteemed prince would not deny it, would you?” Roy glanced at the negotiation contract on the table.
This was their tripartite contract, the terms of which added many requirements from Leanna to Roy’s previous proposal.
Once signed, the South Sea faction would be completely paralyzed, likely worse off than the core members of the Golden Sands faction.
“…I understand.”
Jason sighed deeply, ultimately tremblingly signing the contract in front of Roy.
With that, the dispute between the Lionheart and South Sea factions came to a conclusive end.
After signing, Jason seemed to age ten years in an instant: “Roy Ainbrad, you really are an impressive guy.”
He forced a weak smile, a mix of self-mockery and consolation: “Not to mention every step of mine was within your calculations, but you were even prepared for the Howling Sea Sentinel. You planned this meticulously; losing, in a way, feels unacceptable.”
The black-haired boy simply smiled lightly at his words.
Having the foresight from the original work, along with Leanna’s intelligence network, predicting the South Sea faction’s moves wasn’t difficult.
The only trouble was the Howling Sea Sentinel; while Roy could fight it if he went all out, faction disputes were not life-and-death battles; doing so would be overkill, and it would expose his trump cards to the public eye, drawing the cult’s covetous attention.
But who could blame him for having a Sequence 6 Extraordinary wand in hand and Leanna, a witch who could maximize its potential?
“However, I do have one question,” Jason lifted his head, casting a cold glance toward Leanna. “Why did you choose to team up with her?”
