Chapter 54: Senior’s Guidance
Leanna’s heart quivered, but she maintained her composure. “That’s right.”
Without a moment’s hesitation, she explained, “Cultists have their eyes on Hydra’s venom sacs. Those guys have some strange methods, and aside from the Holy Light Church, no one knows how to deal with them better than the False King’s blood.”
After what felt like an almost suffocating silence, the old man lying in the healing chamber finally let out a hoarse murmur. His murky eyes opened slightly, revealing a hint of profound understanding.
“Ah, the False King…”
“Indeed, besides the Church, there’s no one better suited to confronting cultists.”
“As a pawn, he’s not bad.”
Leanna’s brows furrowed ever so slightly.
If she had to say anything, it was just to utilize the power of the False King, and she also wanted to make that interesting man hers. In that sense, the pawn description was spot on.
But for some reason, a subtle discomfort arose in her heart.
The bitterness in her mouth grew stronger.
—————————
The conflict between the Lionheart faction and the South Sea faction was not unexpected. One was a rising star, the other an established faction; with the Golden Sands faction on the decline, it was no surprise they clashed over the territory that Golden Sands had relinquished.
Typically, faction disputes dragged on for weeks or even months. No one could have predicted that the conflict would end in less than a week.
Even more surprising was the complete annihilation of the South Sea faction, with the Lionheart faction emerging victorious!
Granted, the Lionheart side had support from the Dark Magic faction, but it was rare for a first-year faction to challenge a second-year one, so just the fact that Lionheart could engage the South Sea faction directly was already quite remarkable.
And that familiar name reemerged into everyone’s view following this unbelievable outcome.
“Roy Ainbrad…”
“First the Trial of Blue, then a faction dispute. This guy sure knows how to make waves.”
“Right? He even joined the Student Council! Which first-year can stir up this much trouble?”
Whenever they spotted that figure clad in black hair and clothes, adorned with a black armband, even the most troublesome of troublemakers would shape up, fearful of catching his eye.
Generally, first-year students who joined the Student Council ended up being mere aides to upperclassmen since they lacked both strength and experience.
However, when you’re the knight of the Lionheart princess, the victor of the Trial of Blue, plus a member of the Student Council, you shine way too brightly.
Rumor has it that the prince of the South Sea fell into seclusion after opposing him, thus highlighting his terrifying prowess.
So when Roy patrolled, he had more intimidating presence than most second or third-year seniors, leading to a complete lack of trouble in his wake.
Of course, after Roy passed by, the gossip about him and the Student Council President still echoed.
Nobody dislikes being respected and feared, and Roy was no exception.
That whole “villainous scoundrel” image was a thing of the past! Now, he was the model student, the ideal noble, the most handsome guy in the academy!
However, upon returning to the Student Council office with the patrol team, the originally spirited expression on his face noticeably darkened.
To be honest, the prestige he had established made patrolling not too hard, even with the complaints from most first-years. But the paperwork that everyone loved became something Roy dreaded.
After a moment of inner turmoil, he finally sighed in resignation, putting on a dejected face as he pushed the door open.
As expected, a brown-haired girl holding a cup of coffee was seated at the President’s exclusive desk, smiling sweetly at him.
The morning breeze wafted through the window, gently stirring her lovely brown hair, which danced like the rich aroma of coffee filling the office. Her mature and charming smile was even more radiant than the clear blue sky above.
“Welcome back! Thank you for your hard work, patrollers.”
Though she said that, her gaze obviously fell on Roy.
He noticed the younger students around him hold their breath, fidgeting awkwardly, which left him utterly speechless.
You’re all still too young; this bad woman can easily have you wrapped around her finger!
Roy marched straight up to Leanna and reprimanded, “Patrol is over. Now it’s time for paperwork.”
“Don’t be lazy, President. Finish your coffee and get to work.”
“Oh? Didn’t we agree you’d call me ‘senior’?” Leanna let out a sigh, feigning disappointment as if she’d suffered some grave injustice, her long lashes fluttering.
That single response made everyone’s hearts soften a little.
Almost everyone in the office directed silent condemnation at Roy.
Call her! Quickly! What a golden opportunity! Why aren’t you calling her?!
Roy’s corner of his mouth twitched, but he still maintained a stern demeanor. “This is work time. I hope the President can act the part.”
“Oh, so that means I can call you whatever I like in private?” Before Roy could respond, Leanna raised her eyebrows perkily. “Well, I look forward to it.”
Roy was rendered speechless, eventually rolling his eyes at her before returning to the long table to handle the paperwork.
Honestly, he began to regret things.
The Student Council was Leanna’s territory, allowing her to shamelessly find excuses to tease him, her “member,” while Roy struggled to refute her advances, unable to dodge them.
He wasn’t some fan club puppy, ready to kneel at her skirt!
A so-called bad woman merely wanted to use her charms to claim other men as hers. Leanna probably wanted to snatch him away from the Lionheart faction too.
But this level of temptation? He could hold out; it wasn’t enough to make him yield!
With that thought, Roy ignored the smiling girl beside him and buried himself in the paperwork at hand.
The Student Council was going to collect taxes from the various factions’ shops, and due to the plethora of large and small factions, calculating tax amounts in Veszyra was always a hassle.
“Hmm?”
Roy quickly realized something was off; the total tax collected didn’t match his expectations.
Just then, a soft, fragrant whisper brushed his ear.
“Junior, you miscalculated these numbers.”
Roy jumped slightly, instantly freezing as he felt the softness behind him.
So big… wait, no!
“Leanna! What are you doing?!” Roy turned around and hissed through gritted teeth.
Leanna looked back at him innocently, entirely shameless. “I’m helping! Guiding Student Council members in their work is my job, right?”
“But…”
“Shh~ Everyone’s working hard. Don’t disturb them with loud noises.”
Roy nearly exploded with laughter from sheer frustration.
“You’re clearly the one harassing me!”
“Oh, if you don’t like it, just learn quickly! Once you know how, you won’t need me anymore!”
After pondering for a moment, Roy had to admit she had a point and urged softly, “Then hurry up!”
To his surprise, the moment he finished speaking, a delicate hand as soft as silk reached towards the back of his hand.
