Chapter 58: Afraid You Won’t Make It?!
Just before leaving, Leanna suddenly turned around, flashed a tender smile, and extended her hand, beckoning the young boy beside her with her fingertip.
This was no longer a hint; it was an outright invitation.
Leanna’s hands were beautiful, her fingers slender, her palms delicate, with a subtle lavender nail polish that wasn’t gaudy but rather charming, like grapes adorned with morning dew.
Rumor had it that the student council president could charm countless boys with just a finger wag—Roy thought there was no exaggeration in that claim.
However, his self-control was typically very strong.
Feigning ignorance, Roy stepped past the girl and casually asked, “So, where shall we go first?”
“Sigh, you really have no sense of romance, junior.”
Roy couldn’t help but twitch his mouth at her lament.
Leanna kept pace with the young boy, glancing at the clear blue sky, cheerfully suggesting, “Anyway, let’s grab a cup of coffee first.”
Roy followed Leanna to a café located in the center of the commercial street.
At a glance, the elegant decor made Roy realize it was the same chain they had visited before in the academy—clearly, this was the main branch.
The café was bustling with customers, but when Leanna walked in, the servants immediately paused their tasks to respectfully greet her, sneaking glances at the young boy.
“Take me to the private room.”
Leanna instructed, then chuckled, “What, are you all that concerned about him?”
“Ah, we wouldn’t dare,” the caught-off-guard servants replied awkwardly.
But Leanna brushed it off and smiled brightly, “Treat him like you treat me. After all, he’s the man I like, you know.”
With that remark, the servants struggled to maintain their humble demeanor, their attitude becoming even more respectful as they rushed to take her coat and lead the way, attracting the attention of the café’s customers, leaving Roy feeling a bit embarrassed.
Roy was curious, “You wouldn’t happen to be the owner of this place, would you?”
“Not at all. I just saved the owner’s life once,” Leanna casually replied, “Making a few more friends never hurts.”
Rather than friends, it was more like pawns to help you out, Roy mentally scoffed.
But he understood that unlike those two princes with royal backgrounds, if Leanna wanted to establish herself and develop her own power, she had to build good relationships and seek support.
He recalled that in the original story, she was even close to high-ranking members of the dark magic faction; a grand mage and a café owner were just a small part of her vast network.
The atmosphere in the private room starkly contrasted with the casual vibe outside. Under the cool pastel lights, the dark red leather sofas, elegantly grained wooden walls, and small tables adorned with exquisite potted plants created a fresh, elegant, yet stylish feel—reminiscent of a place a rich young lady would fancy.
From what he gathered in the original work, Leanna seemed to hail from a prestigious family but was cast out due to unforeseen circumstances; it’s no surprise she would enjoy such places.
Leanna ordered her usual bitter coffee, but this time, Roy didn’t try to show off. After a slight hesitation, he opted for milk and sugar, alongside a small plate filled with cakes and cookies.
However, before Roy could take action, Leanna quickly snatched his cup away, adding sugar and milk herself, appearing like a caring sister looking after her younger sibling.
Leanna gently handed the cup back, resting her chin on her interlaced fingers, and teasingly said, “Try it. Your senior made it just for you!”
“You didn’t even make it yourself…?”
Roy looked down to find his coffee had been artfully decorated with a delicate little flower made of milk foam.
Though he didn’t exactly want to drink it, he still offered a mild compliment, “It looks pretty nice.”
Roy took a sip. The familiar sweet aroma flowed across his lips, much like what he had tasted at the academy, yet for some reason, it lingered even more enticingly now.
“Tastes pretty good.”
“Hmph.”
Leanna raised her brow, and Roy sighed, “Wait, what’s there to be proud of? You just drew a flower.”
Leanna took a light sip, her eyes narrowing with a smile, “Doesn’t matter if I didn’t make it myself, as long as you like it.”
Beneath her long, thick eyelashes, her gaze was richer and smoother than the aroma of the coffee, making Roy look away to avoid getting trapped.
To shift focus, Roy turned his eyes to the plate of exquisite pastries, but when he reached for them, he froze.
“This place has terrible service. How come there’s a fork missing?”
“True, but there’s nothing we can do about it now,” Leanna nodded seriously.
Just as Roy was about to call for a server, a fork pierced with chocolate cake was extended toward him.
“What’s this for?”
“To feed you.”
“Wait, wait, why don’t we just get some new utensils…”
“That’d be too much trouble. And who knows, the mischievous staff might not even hand over any cutlery?”
“How could that…?”
Before he could finish, Roy snapped back to reality and noticed the playful look on the girl’s face, his expression becoming awkward.
How could such a posh establishment have such a rookie mistake? Unless they did it on purpose.
“I think the mischievous one isn’t the staff, but you.”
“Not at all! I’m just being considerate, coming over to feed you!”
With one hand resting on her chin, Leanna wobbled the fork in front of him, teasing the piece of cake on the edge.
“Hurry up, or it’s going to fall!”
“You…”
Roy gritted his teeth, seeing the little cake about to tumble off. In the spirit of not wasting food, he reluctantly leaned forward, opened his mouth, and let the small cake fulfill its destiny.
Leanna laughed even more joyfully, her brow relaxed and sweet, as if she was the one enjoying the cake while also basking in the triumph of her devilish plot.
“How’s it taste?”
Roy replied grumpily, “You should try it yourself.”
“That’s true.” Leanna said, before taking a piece of cake for herself, popping it in her mouth, not chewing but savoring it as if relishing the smooth flow of chocolate on her palate until it melted entirely.
Roy suddenly felt like he was becoming the pastry in a witch’s mouth, gradually melting under her warmth.
As she gazed at him intently, holding the fork delicately, she coyly hinted, “I think it’s pretty delicious.”
For some inexplicable reason, Roy felt dry in his throat, and after sipping his coffee, he responded, “It’s alright, but I prefer cookies.”
Cookies didn’t require a fork, thus sparing him the mockery of this witch.
Unexpectedly, Leanna reached out directly, snatching a cookie before he could, and in a babying tone, opened her mouth wide.
“Ah~”
“Ah~ my foot!” Roy couldn’t help but complain.
“No need to feed me a cookie!”
“Sigh, you were being such a good sport earlier; why not continue that now?”
“That was different!”
“Are you shy now, junior?”
Roy was taken aback.
Leanna chuckled, “You’ve got so many girls around, yet you get all shy over this little thing; how cute!”
“It’s just for fun. Is it necessary to be this serious?” she raised an eyebrow, holding the cookie with a teasing tone.
“Alright, fine, let’s do it!”
He didn’t want to be looked down upon by someone who had never dated! What’s the big deal about the feeding play? He was already bored with Alice and the others, so why should he care about her?
With that thought, Roy resignedly leaned in, impatiently opening his mouth.
