Chapter 64: You Are Mine
Outside the basement, Kreya listened to the heart-pounding noises from inside, her fists clenched helplessly.
To suppress the blood of the Demon Race within the Dark Mage, one had to either unleash this restlessness through slaughter or drink the blood of one’s kind—Extraordinary Beings.
But the more one killed, the easier it was to fall deeper into the thirst for blood; the more one drank the blood of Extraordinary Beings, the harder it was to control their own bloodline.
Both options were like drinking poison to quench thirst, and Leanna had gotten this far by relying on such means.
Without a doubt, Leanna was the most gifted Dark Mage of this generation. Not only was she the first to become Sequence 7, but with the Extraordinary materials she required, she might even hope to reach Sequence 6.
At that point, forget being just a Dark Mage; she would be among the top-tier Extraordinary Beings.
However, the more talented a Dark Mage was, the more susceptible they became to the influence of the Demon blood.
Kreya, having studied under the same mentor as Leanna, understood that if this continued, it was only a matter of time before Leanna…
“So, is the senior here?”
“Uh, yeah… what?!”
Kreya turned around and saw a Black-Haired Boy, along with two accompanying Dark Mages, had appeared out of nowhere behind her.
“Hey, why did you bring him here?!”
One of the Dark Mages scratched his head in confusion, “Uh, hasn’t Mr. Roy already joined us?”
“Absolutely not!” *2
Roy explained, “I have a way to help Leanna ease the backlash of her bloodline.”
“You?” Kreya looked at him skeptically.
Not to mention that the pain of bloodline backlash experienced by Dark Mages was nearly impossible to withstand for a millennium, who were you, a ‘Steel-Blood’ Knight, to take on such a task? You can’t even use magic!
Roy didn’t waste time with words and stepped forward, grabbing Kreya’s hand.
Before the girl could shout in protest, a strange sensation began to spread through her.
Although she didn’t know if this wondrous power could help with the bloodline backlash, it did calm her bloodline energy significantly.
When she looked at Roy again, Kreya was astonished, as if she were witnessing a creature from mythology, completely unable to comprehend what he had done.
“Do you believe me now?”
“Fine, you seem to have some miraculous methods, but how do I know you won’t take advantage of the situation against the president?”
Roy, somewhat amused but also exasperated, replied, “If something really happens, you can just report me to the teacher.”
“Moreover, she’s Sequence 7 and I’m Sequence 8; if it comes to a fight, you should worry about me, right?”
Kreya scratched her head, her big eyes wide with wisdom.
Well, that made sense.
After thinking for a moment, she finally made up her mind.
Having learned from the same mentor as Leanna and having received her care, she could no longer bear to see her suffer from the backlash of the bloodline. Even if Roy could only relieve Leanna’s immediate pain, that would be enough.
Recalling that day when they were entangled in the Student Council office, Kreya thought even if the other party had some ill intentions, it wasn’t really her business to intervene.
“Then I’ll leave it to you.”
Roy nodded, thanked Kreya, and slowly pushed open the door.
As soon as he entered, he couldn’t help but frown.
A nauseating stench hit him like a wall; the spacious basement was littered with the cruelly dismembered, disemboweled corpses of snake monsters.
In the midst of the sea of blood and bodies, a figure half-knelt.
She casually tossed aside the dried snake flesh and slowly turned her head.
The horrific appearance made Roy’s heart skip a beat.
His ability to see clearly in the darkness allowed him to discern all the details.
The young girl’s once beautiful dress was now tattered from the battle with the snake monsters, and even her delicate black hair was in tatters, exposing patches of skin smeared with blood.
Whether dignified or mocking, those familiar expressions were no longer present, only a twisted, blood-soaked grin remained, along with dark, lifeless, empty eyes.
“Senior, even if it’s in private, you can’t neglect your appearance like this, right?”
Roy tentatively remarked but saw no reaction from Leanna.
Clearly, she had completely drowned in slaughter due to the backlash of her bloodline.
The original work had mentioned that resorting to killing to alleviate the thirst for blood and devouring magical beasts to ease bloodline restlessness were only temporary solutions and the only options for Dark Mages.
And Leanna’s condition was worse than he had imagined.
Probably in the original story, she had forcibly suppressed the backlash each time, secretly released it afterward, and only then returned to Alice’s side.
With that thought, Roy couldn’t help but frown slightly.
He deliberately engaged her in conversation to confirm her condition, “I thought the senior might regain her sanity because of me, but it seems that’s not the case.”
“Play… play… who… are you?”
Roy had already confirmed with Kreya that the “Bloodline Resonance” was also effective on Dark Mages.
Even if it couldn’t completely cure the bloodline backlash, it would undoubtedly be more useful than the Dark Mages’ century-long helplessness.
The problem was, “Bloodline Resonance” required hand-holding to take effect.
Unlike the previous close-quarters sneak attack, even if Leanna was out of it, she was still a Sequence 7 Dark Mage, and getting close to her was no easy feat.
So, while keeping her attention, Roy slowly approached, “How cruel, you forget about me so quickly after we’ve just been apart? I’m Roy, Roy Ainbrad, your junior.”
Unexpectedly, when Leanna heard this, she suddenly glared at him.
“Ro… Roy, yes, you are Roy…”
“You’re mine!”
As her words fell, a wave of extraordinary energy surged from beneath Leanna like a storm, and in the next moment, countless twisted snake shadows outlined in the darkness rushed at him like lightning!
So-called black magic is essentially the power of the Demon Race, and Leanna’s “Black Magic: Snake” is a type of snake Demon Race magic that specializes in summoning snake familiars!
Roy dodged a large number of snake monsters, but was quickly overwhelmed by a saturation of attacks.
The pitch-black snake monsters tightly locked his limbs, fixing him in a star shape, unable to move.
Roy couldn’t help but feel exasperated.
Wait, logically speaking, you should regain your senses because you remembered your beloved, right? Why are you instead becoming more corrupted? It would have been better if you didn’t remember!
Roy was about to use the “Evil Dragon Blood Armor” to elevate his bloodline level and break free with brute force, but surprisingly, Leanna didn’t launch a further attack; instead, she staggered over.
Her high heels had long since been discarded, and her skirt and black stockings were utterly tattered, yet covered in blood and disheveled hair, the girl seemed even more alluring.
She climbed onto Roy, licking the blood from her fingertips, an expression of greed flickering in her hollow eyes, and with a sinister smile, she said, “Roy, you are mine.”
Saying that, she suddenly reached out and grabbed Roy’s neck.
Unfortunately, the dark golden dragon scales had already emerged first; she was just a mere Mage; there was no way she could strangle him!
And Roy finally got what he wished for, coming into contact with her body.
“Sorry, I’m not yours.”
As his words reached Leanna, a strange sensation rushed toward her.
