Chapter 82: Did You Miss Me Already After Just a Short While?
The pale knight suddenly spoke up, “My brethren always say humans are weak and useless, their extraordinary bloodlines thin and they’re just a bunch of cowards fearing for their lives. It seems we were too arrogant.”
“Humans, feel honored. I will remember you forever.”
The Undead Knight raised his longsword, and the pale flames coalesced into a solid form, faintly sketching a massive knight’s phantom in the air, as if death itself had become tangible, ready to deliver judgment to the living.
Bloodline awakening?! This guy actually awakened his bloodline?!
Roy couldn’t help feeling his scalp tingle.
Once they reached mid-tier, extraordinary beings with enough talent and bloodline purity could materialize their bloodline powers.
But awakening a bloodline isn’t easy; some might not even grasp it by Sequence 5.
Roy was sure that even the Evil Dragon Blood Armor wouldn’t withstand this blow!
He had planned to stall for time, saving his strength until Leanna could sneak out the treasure and they could team up.
But now Roy had changed his mind.
The Undead Knight was too tricky.
Being at Sequence 8, his extraordinary power was already significantly insufficient. Delaying any longer would surely leave him exposed.
Especially since his opponent could awaken their bloodline; even if it was a crude mastery, he’d definitely be doomed if he couldn’t handle this move.
Roy gripped his sword tightly, letting out a deep breath, preparing to face the coming strike.
“I’ll accompany you to the end.”
Both extraordinary beings and Cultists recognized that the next move would decide the victor, all of them nervously holding their breath.
In an instant, the massive auction house fell silent, with only the sound of a pin dropping audible, as if the air itself had frozen.
Then, the Undead Knight suddenly struck with his sword.
Along with it came the equally eerie shadow wielding pale ghost flames, and the chilling aura erupted, like a realm of spirits opening its gates to deliver the most merciless judgment to the living.
The full-force strike from a mid-tier extraordinary being was hard-hitting enough to make it difficult for others to raise their heads. Extraordinary beings gasped, personally experiencing the unbridgeable gap between mid-tier and low-tier, their faces filled with despair.
But just as the pale blow was about to descend, the Undead Knight suddenly froze, taken aback.
Dragon’s might—Roy received a brief moment that did not even last a second.
But that moment was enough.
The Sword Demon struck, flames cascading, the crimson whirlwind rushing upwards as if a fire dragon in the depths of a volcano roared, determined to incinerate the sky and reduce the netherworld to ashes!
Ember Annihilation!
The pale knight broke free from his stun, and the Sword Demon charged forward, unstoppable.
Their double blades crossed as white and red flames formed a whirlwind, engulfing everything around them. The entire auction house reeling from the impact, lights flickering as if they had experienced a brief natural disaster.
The overwhelming force and blinding light vanished in an instant, yet everyone saw two figures being sent flying simultaneously, crashing to either side.
A tie?
Just as that thought crossed their minds, they noticed Ivan’s Undead Mage behind him spitting blood, collapsing to the ground.
And the first to rise was—Sword Demon!
With a ghastly sword scar on his shoulder, his black clothing stained with blood, he still managed to stand first.
In contrast, the Undead Knight, trying to push himself up with his longsword, was instead engulfed by flames, his body constantly disintegrating, one arm turning to ashes.
“I lost…”
“Sword Demon won?!” Prince of the South Seas exclaimed in shock.
Adventurers, wanted criminals, and noble elites who had survived erupted in cheers. Hex raised his fist in celebration, while Heras cried tears of joy.
However, before everyone could fully celebrate, the Undead Knight’s next statement extinguished their hard-won hopes.
“If it had been a fair duel, I would have already been dead.”
“Unfortunately, this battle was anything but fair.”
The Undead Knight sighed.
All the Undead Mages, except Ivan, had collapsed, and with the life force they provided, the Undead Knight astonishingly stood up again, gray and white flames erupting from him, forming a new body.
Roy, on the other hand, swayed unsteadily, his breath noticeably weak. He had to clutch his sword to stabilize himself, feeling an overwhelming heaviness in his heart.
This was the first time the Evil Dragon Blood Armor had been directly breached.
Blood Healing could exploit the sacrifice of blood to heal wounds, so he was indeed recovering from his injuries.
The problem was that the previous strike had drained all his extraordinary power.
If this continued, he would need to depend on Blood-Recovery Magic.
However, two instances of Blood Condensation, plus taking another hit from his opponent, and then Blood Healing, left him acutely aware of his excessive blood loss, his vision blurred.
If he pushed any further, he’d only be signing his own death warrant.
The theory was that when fighting a necromancer, one should prioritize attacking the spellcaster, but the Undead Knight reacted too quickly, making it incredibly difficult to break through his defense.
Roy shook his head to dispel distractions, lifting his longsword once more.
But it was not yet the time to give up.
He still had his last trump card, the Blade of the First King.
The reverse destiny point happened to be just enough to activate the Blade of the First King.
Whether it was the Dragon King or the True Ancestor, they could wipe out the Undead Knight along with the necromantic spells. The only problem was, afterwards he would be left with barely any breath.
If those wanted criminals or mages wanted to turn against him, that would be troublesome.
But there were no other choices left.
Noticing that Roy had not given up, Ivan, with a weak and pale face, forced a cold grin, “You’re like a mantis trying to stop a chariot!”
“Mortals are ultimately mortals; no matter what tricks you play, you cannot resist the greatness of divine power. All that awaits you is eternal silence!”
And the Undead Knight, sensing his opponent’s weakness, couldn’t help but look conflicted, sighing again.
“You are remarkable.”
“If bloodline levels were the same, that last strike would have decided the winner. Unfortunately, there are no ‘what ifs’ in this world.”
“This is where it ends.”
As the Undead Knight raised his sword to strike, Roy gritted his teeth, preparing to fight to the death, when suddenly a familiar aura surged from behind him.
Shadows twisted, morphing into countless small snakes rushing toward the Undead Knight, forcing him to halt.
However, as he severed the snake shadows with a sword strike, he found Roy had been dragged into the darkness by a wisp of charming shadow, and the next second, he reappeared a hundred meters away.
Looking at the enchanting sorceress, the Undead Knight suddenly furrowed his brow.
This woman was off.
His bloodline was actually being subtly suppressed by her?!
He had heard that black mages among humans had bloodlines very close to those of the demon race. But to be suppressed by a Sequence 7 bloodline left the Undead Knight utterly astonished.
First that swordsman, now this sorceress—today’s battle had truly reshaped his worldview.
Meanwhile, Roy, supported in Leanna’s embrace, inhaling the familiar scent of bellflower, couldn’t help but complain after finally relaxing.
“We thought you were gonna run away.”
“Oh come on, did you already miss me after just a short while?” Leanna laughed, her smile brightening, “Don’t worry; leaving my junior all alone isn’t something a senior should do.”
