Chapter 4: Alice Understands Everything
The cafeteria at noon is always packed, even louder than a market.
No matter how many stalls there are, it’s never enough, and students are always complaining while waiting in line.
Even in the noble second-floor cafeteria, the line is just as orderly, and complaints are still the same.
But there’s one situation that can momentarily quiet these noisy crowds.
“Look! It’s an angel!”
“Is the angel lady here for the cafeteria today?”
In her white uniform, the blonde girl walks by casually, as if surrounded by a wondrous aura, healing hearts like the first ray of sunlight entering a room in the morning.
The crowd stirs, but there’s no mockery; both boys and girls gaze at the cold and serene blonde girl, accepting her appearance like followers witnessing an angel’s arrival—
Okay, maybe that’s a bit exaggerated, but Alice’s popularity is undeniable.
At first, nobody cared, even feeling a bit sorry for the blonde girl tied to some punk.
However, at the opening ceremony, Alice proved her extraordinary talent, showcasing that she was more than just a maid. She quickly climbed to Sequence 7 and thwarted a cultist’s conspiracy, earning high praise from the Mage Association and the Holy Light Church.
Normally, exceptional extraordinary beings come from noble families or ancient lineages. But Alice is different; she has no special background at all.
This gave her immense popularity among regular students. She’s powerful, outstanding in her studies, good-looking, and her background is not lofty.
Besides her cold demeanor, which can make her seem hard to approach at first glance, she’s almost perfect—though some might say that’s a cute trait.
There’s no doubt that if it weren’t for Roy’s presence, she would be the most popular newcomer of the year.
Only when the golden figure finally disappeared from the second floor did time resume its flow, and the cafeteria once again filled with noise.
Alice herself doesn’t care about others’ praises or affections; what matters more to her is being respected as Roy’s maid.
However, recently she’s been troubled.
Other people are still just other people.
No matter whose gaze it is, she desires only one.
But recently, that person’s attention seems to be fixed on others.
Not only that, Alice can clearly feel that Roy looks at her and Charlotte differently.
In fact, Roy treats things done with them entirely differently.
Alice confided her recent worries to her two friends.
The black-and-white cat girls exchanged glances.
Vanilla cautiously asked, “What exactly do you mean by things done with them but not done with you?”
“It’s…”
In an instant, Alice’s mind flashed with images she had witnessed several times: the young boy and girl deeply kissing, causing an ache in her heart.
She lowered her gaze and rephrased, “In the evenings, they sometimes meet privately, and well, they’re just very close.”
As soon as she said this, the expressions of the black-and-white cat girls turned serious.
Choc already began to hypothesize, “Could they be sneaking snacks without you?”
Vanilla nearly burst out laughing, shoving a handful of fries into her friend’s mouth, “Behave and eat.”
Then she turned to Alice.
“I understand now. Alice, because the young master is constantly looking at other girls and sneaking off with them, you feel lonely, right?”
“Um, not really… As a maid, I should be happy for my master. Even if he’s busy, Alice won’t… feel lonely…”
By the end, Alice’s voice shrank, and her short twin tails visibly drooped.
The angel bathed in light feathers looked just like a neglected puppy at home, no different from any other girl.
Seeing Alice’s dejected expression, Vanilla felt a mix of emotions.
Feeling jealous and lonely just means Alice has started to develop feelings for our young master. Clumsy, but not hopeless, unlike a certain older sister who is seemingly beyond saving.
The problem is, she’s too passive.
Of course, according to the club’s original policy, it’s okay to take it slow. Waiting for the two to blossom and enjoying the increasingly close relationship between master and maid isn’t a bad thing.
But who could have predicted that rivals would appear one after another, each faster than the last?!
Charlotte took nearly half a year, Nia an entire semester, and now this Leanna, and she’s already getting cozy with the young master in less than a semester!
If this continues, forget about getting any meat; she might not even get a spoonful of soup!
Unless someone great gives her guidance.
“Ah, if you’re lonely, why not join them… ugh!”
Vanilla casually shoved more fries into Choc’s mouth.
She transformed into a cat-headed strategist, calmly offering advice: “Alice, what if you became a bit more proactive?”
“Proactive? What do you mean?” Alice looked a bit confused.
“Have you noticed? You keep waiting for the young master to come to you. If you don’t take the initiative, how can that work?”
Vanilla believed Alice’s charm was definitely on par with anyone else’s; she just needed to stand up for herself!
“Just put in more effort and be proactive. Let the young master see your charm as a girl, and then his attention will return to you.”
“Got it?”
Alice pondered for a moment, then lifted her head, her eyes sparkling.
“Alice understands everything.”
Vanilla nodded in satisfaction at those words.
However, the same phrase held a different logic in Alice’s mind.
To make her master recognize her charm.
Charm is simply about appearance, character, background, and ability.
Alice’s appearance… well, it seems to fall short of others. The character is too hard to grasp. As for background, it doesn’t need to be mentioned—what kind of background does a maid have?
In that case, the only thing she could strive for is her ability!
Her master always mutters about wanting to become stronger to protect him; that’s his expectation!
Plus, Leanna is already Sequence 6, and her master must have a reason for liking her!
So, as long as she becomes stronger, her master’s gaze will shift back to her!
Proof concluded!
The blonde girl stood up, determination in her eyes: “Alice will start working hard now!”
“Good, good, good, go on!”
Vanilla clapped her hands, watching the girl boldly take her steps.
Just feeling this girl is teachable, and in the future, she’ll just have to punch the princess and step on the elf, pushing the witch senior out of bed, and grabbing the young master for herself to become the first lady of the Marquis household is just around the corner!
The future looks bright!
But wait, when it comes to dating, the atmosphere should be soft, right? Why does she look like she’s gonna go pick a fight instead…?
