Chapter 30: Blooming Again
The Silver-Haired Girl’s face was like frost, her expression indifferent, her pale beautiful face showing no signs of joy or anger.
The tenderness displayed on the night before the final exams felt like just a distant dream.
Say too much and you’re bound to mess up; say nothing, and you dodge the bullet.
Roy couldn’t quite gauge Xue Nuo’s attitude, choosing to observe silently rather than speak up immediately.
When Enwei saw Xue Nuo, he first froze, then his face lit up with delight as he hurried over with a smirk, “Teacher Xue Nuo, you’re here!”
He pointed at Roy, looking like he wanted to beat some sense into him, “You don’t know! This kid has zero respect for his seniors and no skills at all. I was just trying to teach him a lesson, and he didn’t appreciate it, even threatening me with his family background!”
“Look at this! Does he even look like a student? This isn’t just a slap on my behind; this is a slap in the faces of all our teachers…”
Enwei was grinning from ear to ear.
Sure, he couldn’t compete with Roy.
But if it were this Spartan teacher, even a prince wouldn’t escape unscathed. How would Enwei fare against the fearsome “Rose of Ice,” who made everyone tremble?
Enwei couldn’t wait to see Roy get roasted until he couldn’t hold his head up!
However, the icy voice suddenly cut through his rants.
“Teacher Enwei, I want to know why you’re scolding Roy?”
“Doubts. There should be evidence and reason behind scolding. As far as I know, Roy hasn’t broken any school rules recently.”
Enwei blurted, “Of course, it’s about his grades! With how he performed in the final exam, isn’t it fair for me to say something?”
“That performance—” Xue Nuo emphasized the words, raising an eyebrow, “Are you sure you know his grades?”
Enwei froze.
He saw a storm brewing in those icy blue eyes.
At that moment, although the sun shone down, a strange chill hung in the air, making Enwei shiver uncontrollably.
“Follow me.”
Xue Nuo walked straight through the crowd, and the students instinctively parted ways for her.
She pointed directly to the top of the noticeboard, and Enwei’s gaze went blank.
Xue Nuo turned around, her cold eyes narrowed.
“Exam results, full marks.”
“Questions. I’m curious, what’s so bad about those grades that you think you need to scold him?”
“Or are you publicly reprimanding a student based merely on your assumptions without verifying the grades?”
“I… No, that shouldn’t be…” Enwei stammered, eyes wide as saucers, grabbing his hair as his brain ground to a halt.
This was absurd!
In the tutor class, nine out of ten students barely scraped by in written tests, and the last one didn’t even reach passing!
And now there was suddenly someone with full marks? How did that make any sense?!
“There must be some mistake! Yes, cheating! He must be cheating! Otherwise, how could someone like him…”
“Enough!”
The air trembled, the cold wind howled.
An extraordinary fluctuation at Sequence 5 erupted into an icy blue cyclone, silencing the entire plaza.
Facing this pressure, Enwei froze, unable to utter a single word.
Xue Nuo glared at him, her anger unmistakable.
She had seen all of Roy’s hard work, and those full marks were all his doing.
It wasn’t an exaggeration to say that Roy was the best student she had ever taught.
Xue Nuo wasn’t good at praising students, but she couldn’t bear to see her student belittled like that.
With a cold smirk, she said dismissively, “You really are hopeless.”
“I’ll say it straight; Roy’s grades are justifiable, and he earned them.”
In front of all the teachers and students, the Silver-Haired Girl pointed at Enwei, her chilling aura pushing him down: “It’s you who doesn’t even bother confirming grades, acting high and mighty to criticize and slander without knowing anything. Enwei, you simply don’t deserve to be a teacher!”
“Do you have any defense?”
Whispers arose from the crowd.
The academy didn’t put much emphasis on written exam scores, but full marks held a whole different value.
Especially when someone from the bottom of the grade reversed to full marks; it was hard not to admire them.
“I told you, how could the Oath Knight perform poorly?!”
“Right? Full marks are pretty impressive.”
“So why was Teacher Enwei scolding him? Just looking for trouble?”
“Even if it was for teaching, his remarks were way out of line!”
“Disgusting, so disgusting!”
They were just there to watch the show, but after Xue Nuo’s words, they quickly figured out right from wrong and looked at Enwei with disdain.
Enwei’s face flashed from green to red; he never expected Xue Nuo wouldn’t back him up but instead defend that little brat!
This was the second time he had been publicly scolded by a little girl!
But when faced with morally superior arguments, he couldn’t muster any retort, finally just awkwardly smiling and bowing his head, “I’m sorry; I was wrong. It won’t happen again.”
“Why are you apologizing to me? The one you actually need to apologize to is him,” Xue Nuo shot a glance at the Black-Haired Boy.
Enwei felt like he’d been struck by lightning, trembling all over, his eyes nearly popping out of his head.
Apologizing to a little brat as a teacher?
How could he ever hold his head up after this…
The Black-Haired Boy gave a light smile, seemingly friendly but resembling someone who’s entertained by watching a clown.
Seeing Enwei dawdle, Xue Nuo’s brows deepened, her atmosphere growing heavier, frost forming on the ground.
Under this chilling pressure, Enwei finally bowed to the boy, managing to put on a smile more pitiful than crying.
“I’m sorry, Roy. I misunderstood you.”
“No worries. It’s understandable, coming from Teacher Enwei.”
“……!”
With that, Enwei hurriedly fled the scene.
The teachers and students gathered back around the noticeboard.
The Silver-Haired Girl glanced back at the boy, the coldness in her features and the chill around her gradually dissipating.
“Are you okay? You don’t need to take that guy’s words to heart.”
“Don’t worry, Teacher. I’m not that fragile yet.”
While saying this, Roy felt a bit surprised.
He never expected the merciless teacher, who once kicked the ‘bad boy Roy’ away, would actually stand up for him.
Though Roy didn’t fear the likes of Enwei, it felt nice to have someone backing him up.
Moreover, that someone was an icy beauty with silver hair and snowy skin.
“Thanks for the help, Teacher! But I should probably head back now.”
After finding out he got full marks, Roy certainly had no reason to linger.
Xue Nuo’s expression turned slightly serious, “You’re leaving already?”
Roy was a little perplexed, “Is there something wrong?”
“…Nothing.” Realizing she misspoke, Xue Nuo pretended nothing was wrong and took the lead.
“Let’s go. I’m heading that way too.”
And so, the boy and girl walked side by side, embarking on their journey home.
