Chapter 63: The Tsundere Version is a Bit Too Advanced
Just as Roy returned to the driver’s seat, he heard Cheese grumbling in dissatisfaction.
“Big brother really knows how to enjoy himself, not only does he have so many females at home, but he also has to bring along a white-haired girl while going out on adventures!”
Roy almost choked and fell off the cart. “Hey, hey, hey, Xue Nuo is my mentor, can you not just say whatever comes to your mind?!”
“And what’s got you feeling down? Don’t you also have a white-haired beauty?”
Cheese’s body shook.
It looked at the silver wolf beside it, but received a fierce glare in return, making it retract its neck in fear.
“What’s wrong, not satisfied?”
Even from a human’s perspective, Xue Nuo’s little wolf was quite pretty.
Unexpectedly, Cheese got furious, almost jumping up.
“Why would you think I would like a dog?!”
“…… Aren’t you all magical beasts?” Roy scratched his head.
Cheese felt insulted: “Just because we’re all magical beasts, we can mate?! Rarely do you humans go and have babies with gorillas or baboons! That’s just perverse!”
Roy wanted to deny it but suddenly thought of some people from his past life who had committed obscene acts with monkeys, cats, dogs, and even Colorado giant lizards, leaving him momentarily speechless.
After a long pause, he finally muttered, “There are indeed people who would do that.”
This time, it was Cheese’s turn to fall silent.
For the first time, the proud griffin felt genuine fear of a bipedal creature.
Noticing the increasingly strange look directed at him, Roy quickly changed the subject to avoid misunderstandings. “Even if you don’t like Little White, what’s up with Cake?”
To be honest, as someone dating three girls at once, Roy felt he had some solid advice to give on hxd’s romantic dilemmas.
“Sigh, what else could it be? That girl just doesn’t like me!”
Cheese hung its head in defeat and began recounting its sad past.
“At first, that girl was pretty gentle. But after a few days, her true colors came out!”
“Every day, she says I’m so annoying, so annoying! Says she just accompanied me out of convenience! Occasionally being gentle, she’d make it clear that it was just out of concern for her fellow griffin, not because she cared about me at all!”
“And she said, because she saw I was all yellow and so pitiful, without a mate, she had the kindness to talk to me! That girl doesn’t think of me at all!”
In its emotional outpouring, big teardrops began to flow from the golden-winged griffin, making the silver wolf beside it look on in disgust.
Meanwhile, the black-haired boy’s mouth twitched.
He initially thought Cake had moved on or saw Cheese as nothing but a loyal follower.
But looking at this description, wasn’t that clearly the case?!
Especially the last line—it was basically a confession! She sees you as a mate, you dense beast!
Roy felt a bit strained. “Isn’t it possible that she’s just being tsundere?”
Cheese paused for a moment before responding, “Big brother, your griffin language skills have regressed a bit. You meant to say proud, right?”
Ah…
Veszyra had the concept of tsundere, but it seemed too complicated for griffins, and there wasn’t even a corresponding word in griffin language.
Roy spilled out a lot of words but ultimately couldn’t explain to Cheese what tsundere was.

On the Gobi Desert, a decay bird flew over, surveying the path of the carriage.
The black-haired boy suddenly felt something and looked up, but all he saw was the endless sky which had long since bored him.
“This direction… looks like we’re headed to Sunfire Valley…”
In a certain cave, the old priest of All Things Wither frowned slightly.
“I’ve heard there’s a relic there. If he gets new powers before we strike, it could complicate things. Shouldn’t we make our move now?”
A few cultists stirred uneasily.
Only the chestnut-haired girl who knew the boy’s details pondered for a moment before calmly saying, “No.”
“With the speed of the golden-winged griffin, we can’t stop him if we act in open areas.”
“Whether the relic has demigod artifacts is still uncertain. Even if it does, digesting that thing takes time. We should wait until he finishes exploring and then take him down in one fell swoop!”
The old man’s brow slightly relaxed, and he let out a hoarse laugh. “That makes sense. Just after an expedition is when he’ll be worn out and least prepared!”
This decision was unanimously accepted, smiles spreading across their faces.
No one noticed that the girl who had just advised caution had a layer of deep blue dragon scales subtly shifting beneath her cheeks.
She was the one with the most killing intent yet also the one who couldn’t underestimate her opponent.
Covering her cheeks, her slit pupils flashed with a terrifying ferocity.
“Roy Ainbrad, prepare to pay the price for your actions.”

After half a month’s long journey, the group finally arrived at Sunfire Valley.
Bald peaks formed towering barriers, making Roy have to ride Cheese around to survey the area before he found a hidden passage.
As they followed the hard-earned path deeper into the valley, the master and disciple were amazed to discover an area filled with vegetation, chirping birds, and even flowing water, painting a picture of vibrant tranquility.
This uniquely arranged scene made Roy inexplicably think of the Sun Sun Relic, just missing some wall paintings.
Xue Nuo expanded her senses and analyzed, “The extraordinary aura is thick here, and with so many creatures residing, there’s likely some demigod power secretly protecting this place.”
Just as she was about to venture further, she noticed the boy standing still with a solemn expression.
“Roy?”
“…… It’s nothing; I just feel like things have been a bit too calm on this journey.”
“Calm?” Xue Nuo was puzzled.
The border is treacherous, and they’ve had to kill quite a few intermediate magical beasts that didn’t even fear griffins.
If it were an ordinary group of adventurers or a magic squad, they probably would have perished multiple times already. Even Xue Nuo wouldn’t use ‘calm’ to describe this adventure.
Roy forced a smile and explained, “I mean the cultists.”
“It’s not just one cultist after my life; even if we kept a low profile, we’ve passed through plenty of towns. It’s inevitable we would leak some information, right?”
“To have gone all this way without encountering a single cultist is kind of odd.”
Xue Nuo initially wanted to tell him not to worry, but seeing the boy’s serious demeanor, she opened her mouth to say something but swallowed her words.
The False King’s bloodline was special and caught the eye of cultists.
It was only now that Xue Nuo fully understood what that meant for him.
If it weren’t for his current caution, that kid would likely have fallen into the hands of cultists a long time ago.
Xue Nuo didn’t miss the unease, wariness, and a hint of fear he was hiding well beneath the boy’s surface.
But after a moment’s hesitation, he suppressed everything, putting on a calm face and resolutely stepping forward.
Had he always endured like this on his own?
Courage had always been a admired quality in the Empire.
But aside from admiration, as she looked at the boy at this moment, Xue Nuo felt another, more tender and fragile emotion mingling within her heart.
It was quite contradictory.
She didn’t want to just watch the boy walk alone into the unknown.
