Chapter 68: Variables
Mina, infused with the blessing of dragon’s blood, sensed a wisp of danger and her face changed instantly: “Watch out!”
However, the late warning was utterly pointless.
In an instant, pure water surged from the young boy’s body, bursting forth to shatter the sewage prison. Eight twisted tentacles corroded by the clean water dissolved at the tips as the pure power made the abyss’ followers howl in agony.
Not pausing to ponder why the other party hadn’t suffocated, the skeleton warrior brandished its massive axe. Just a second before it reached the boy, it was as if invisible shackles bound it, freezing it in place.
This was solely because the boy’s blue eyes were replaced by a golden glow.
【Dragon’s Might】 could only provide a moment’s advantage.
That brief moment was enough.
The boy landed, snatched the dragon-tooth axe, and drew a sharp arc, plunging the lethal weapon into the skeleton warrior’s leg.
The massive figure half-kneeled on the ground, roaring in fury, as it reached out with one hand, intent on crushing the boy. But that claw was met with the boy’s shimmering clean water spear, impaling it straight through the palm.
Heavy armor could only guard from external threats.
The sanctified power eroded the entirety of the skeleton warrior’s arm, and as the boy yanked back his axe, the monstrous warrior, full of brute force, fell heavily.
Without missing a beat, the black-haired boy unsheathed his blade, shooting towards the disoriented Barnes like an arrow!
“By the Reaper!”
Barnes cursed, frantically summoning a horde of skeletons and corpses.
Yet, the boy’s footwork was elusive; without even drawing a blade, he glided through the undead army like a nimble fish in the ocean of coral, untouched.
A thrust of pure water left a straight line!
“Save me!”
Just as his strike was about to land, a shrill voice called out. At the same time, a slender figure, accompanied by a terrifying wind pressure, pounced!
The clean water slash was ripped apart by Mina’s bare hands.
The black-haired boy felt a chill in his gaze, condensing the dragon’s tooth blade and slashing out a second time, only to see the opponent sneer and swipe its claws, the temperature dropping suddenly.
The cold was not just a metaphor; it was the genuine bite of deep frost!
A loud alarm rang in his mind, and Roy resolved to unleash 【Extinguish】 without hesitation.
The terrifying power erupted between the two, a roar of flames clashed with deep blue ice, akin to two ancient dragons battling, generating a wave of fire and ice powerful enough to uproot bushes, even sending battling vultures and griffins flying far away.
After the clash, the boy found himself pushed back several meters by the horrifying ice wave.
He stared at the frost-covered broken sword in hand and his arm, turning a deep purple and losing sensation, dropping fragments of scales, his expression turning grave.
Blood magic and purification power couldn’t breach the dragon scales. The dragon’s tooth blade, set ablaze, was supposed to be the most effective dragon-slaying weapon.
The chestnut-haired girl wasn’t completely unscathed, but beneath her tattered sleeve, her arm covered in icy dragon scales bore only slight burn marks, showing no signs of cracks.
Ice and fire were natural enemies; the previous 【Extinguish】 had shown no mercy. This meant the opponent’s ice dragon power surpassed his own.
Not only was Mina well-prepared against the flame, but judging from the previous cooperation of the 【Water Prison】 and the skeleton warrior, without the 【Protection of the Sea King】, the outcome would have already been determined.
Behind the mad facade of the cultists lay carefully plotted deadly schemes.
Roy squinted, simultaneously using 【Blood Return】 and 【Blood Heal】 to replenish his energy.
Meanwhile, the octopus-named priest, clutching his rotting tentacle tips, bawled, “It hurts, it hurts, it really hurts!”
“Why can he breathe underwater? Why can’t my tentacles regenerate?!”
“Besides the blessings of the dragon and blood clan, you never mentioned that this brat had purification powers!” Barnes shouted in a panic at Mina, genuinely concerned this time.
What they wanted was a one-sided ambush and hunt, not this unpredictable life-and-death struggle!
Both of them began to doubt if the 【Cult of the Evil Dragon】 had held back information, potentially seeking to weaken them before turning on them to seize more spoils!
“Shut up!”
A heavy, cold reprimand like thunder silenced the noise from both sides.
Mina, flexing her wrist, coldly stated, “I’ve said this generation’s False King blood is extraordinary; clearly, he has mastered new pseudo-divine powers without us knowing.”
“But what if so?!”
The chestnut-haired girl’s eyes sparkled with fierce resolve, pointing at the frost-covered boy with shattered dragon scales: “Look at his pathetic state! The power of a pseudo-deity ultimately cannot rival our king’s deep cold!”
“That’s right, this battle won’t be easy! But it’s the best chance to kill him! Or…,” Mina turned and mocked, “Here stands your chance for glory, yet you dare not take the leap? Is this all the conviction your faith holds?”
Both cultist priests’ expressions changed.
The pale-faced mage’s countenance darkened, summoning more undead: “Ridiculous, returning to silence is my greatest wish!”
The eight tentacles reappeared, dancing behind the laughing boy: “I’m so scared, I’m so scared, but for the great master, I’m willing to give everything!”
And the chestnut-haired girl casually shed her robe.
Mina’s aura surged, skyrocketing from the peak of Sequence 7 to Sequence 6 in an instant, crossing a chasm that would take ordinary folks decades to bridge.
Her bare upper body was adorned with glistening frost-covered dragon scales, resembling a dazzling blue diamond armor. Blossoming from her weaker shoulder, a blood-colored flower erupted, unfurling ice-blue dragon wings; from her waist, sword-like blue tails sprouted.
This terrifying yet magnificent sight made Roy inexplicably recall the horrific scene when he first faced the priests of the 【Cult of the Evil Dragon】.
But the enemy before him was far stronger now, having gained more bloodlines from the Seven Great Celestial Dragons.
Mina’s gaze sharpened as she grinned, catching sight of his fear.
“Witness the might of our king, mortal!”
The shockwave trembled, dirt flying, as the ice dragon shot out like a cannonball, launching the second round of combat!
So fast!
In the blink of an eye, the enemy had disappeared from sight, leaving the boy to rely on his bloodied instincts to barely evade the blow.
The ground next to him froze instantly from the chilling winds raised by the dragon’s claws.
Blood magic and clean water could not breach the dragon scales’ defense; the boy swung his sword in flame, counterattacking.
Blades and claws intertwined multiple times in an instant; the dragon tooth and dragon claws were evenly matched, but the crimson flames were extinguished by the icy chill.
Mina acted recklessly, unleashing a punch that grazed past the boy.
In a heartbeat, the massive rock wall shattered, and Mina didn’t hold back, transforming her punch into a claw, aiming straight for the boy along the wall, the thick rock breaking like tofu.
In an instant, the boy danced beneath, gracefully slipping out from under the ice dragon’s claws. Even so, the razor-sharp cold wind still shredded more dragon scales, leaving a terrible gash on him.
In terms of sheer strength and speed, this guy could easily rival Sequence 5! And neither dragon scales nor 【Steel Skin】 could withstand elemental attacks!
Realizing he was outmatched in direct confrontation, the boy continued to retreat, trying to create distance, only to hear a mocking laugh above and see eight writhing shadows.
“Big Brother, let’s play together~”
