Chapter 84: As Long as I Have You
Roy felt a bit embarrassed, unsure how to respond.
Dodging was out of the question, but any words he could come up with might seem like taking advantage of his mentor’s kindness.
So he just quietly enjoyed Xue Nuo’s embrace.
The gentle touch, the faint scent of blue roses, but unlike before, the girl’s body was no longer cold, it felt like warm melted snow flowing softly.
However, Roy didn’t linger too long.
The chill made him shiver, and he couldn’t help but sneeze.
“Roy? I’m, I’m sorry! I must be really cold, right?” Xue Nuo exclaimed, quickly letting him go.
Roy shook his head. “It’s not your fault, teacher.”
“It’s just that I was a bit affected by the ‘Ice Spirit’ while helping you suppress your bloodline… ah-choo!”
Roy covered his mouth, shivering.
He had been so focused on helping Xue Nuo that he forgot to sneeze, and now that he relaxed, he couldn’t help it.
“By the way, to suppress the bloodline, we need physical contact, so I had no choice but to help you change clothes. I hope there’s no misunderstanding,” Roy explained just in case.
Xue Nuo’s cheeks flushed slightly, but she quickly stiffened her expression and replied seriously, “That kind of thing is acceptable!”
“Huh?”
“Right now, you’re the priority…!”
Thinking about Roy suffering because of her, Xue Nuo felt a sting in her heart.
She couldn’t let this go on!
After looking around helplessly for a moment, Xue Nuo suddenly realized that the best way to warm him up was right in her hands!
She flung back the covers and patted the bed next to her. “Come in quickly, don’t freeze!”
“Uh? This…”
Roy was completely thrown off.
What do I do when my female mentor invites me to share a bed? SOS!
“No, no, it’s fine! I’m totally warm, really! Ah-choo!”
“Listen to your teacher!”
“No, no, there are boundaries between men and women, apprentices shouldn’t overstep with their mentors. This is too… ah-choo! Ah-choo!”
What’s going on? Just a moment ago, I was fine, and now it’s like a sneeze explosion?!
Xue Nuo was almost persuaded by Roy, but seeing him sneeze non-stop, struggling to even speak, she couldn’t sit idle anymore.
“I don’t mind!”
Ignoring Roy’s objections, the silver-haired girl pulled him right into the bed, wrapping him tightly, and even called over ‘Little White’ to curl up on top for extra warmth.
Roy was left with no choice but to comply and sit there curled up with Xue Nuo.
Honestly, the blanket blessed by the ice wolf was really warm, even better than a fireplace, and Roy let out a breath of relief, unwittingly relaxing.
Even though the occasional brush against soft skin was a bit nerve-wracking.
Seeing Roy’s relaxed demeanor, Xue Nuo nodded satisfactorily.
She brought over the meat soup, scooped a little, and sweetly said, “Ah~”
“Ah—wait! This was my meal for you, not you feeding me?!”
“Taking care of apprentices, looking after the younger generation, what’s wrong with that?”
“What nonsense… then I should respect my teacher and care for the sick too! Let’s split this soup; besides, the teacher should eat first!”
Roy grabbed the girl’s hand and forcefully stuffed the spoon into her mouth.
Her eyebrows rose slightly.
As Roy said, it wasn’t astonishingly delicious, but on a winter night, a light bowl of meat soup was enough to heal both body and soul.
After a few more sips, Xue Nuo quickly handed the spoon back.
Roy was about to open his mouth when he froze.
Uh-oh, unlike when they were sharing blueberry cake, this time they hadn’t thought about sharing spoons.
“How about I get another spoon?”
“No need.” Xue Nuo didn’t want him to freeze and stopped that idea, bringing the spoon even closer, insisting, “Don’t dawdle, or it’s going to get cold.”
With no other option, Roy had to obediently open his mouth like a little brother forced by his big sister to accept his teacher’s feeding.
Compared to the public execution earlier at the banquet hall, he felt much less tense now.
As for a simple peck…
Xue Nuo didn’t mind, and she felt that worrying about it was unnecessary.
Well, for a mature and calm older sister type, maybe it wasn’t such a big deal…
Thinking this way, the boy was oblivious to the fact that each time she took a bite, the girl’s snow-white cheeks flushed with warmth.
The meat soup quickly disappeared, and time drifted by with the snow falling outside the window.
‘Little White’ comfortably dozed off, clearly enjoying being their blanket just as much as they were using it to keep warm.
Watching the ice wolf mumble in its sleep, they both couldn’t help but laugh.
“By the way, I’m sorry. I couldn’t spend a complete holiday with you,” Xue Nuo said with a touch of regret, but her tone was lighter now.
“It’s fine! Holidays aren’t really about the formality anyway.”
Suddenly, Roy remembered a saying.
He couldn’t quite recall where it came from, but it perfectly expressed how he felt at that moment.
Roy smiled at the girl beside him: “No matter where we are, as long as I can be with the most important person, that’s enough.”
The clock chimed, welcoming the New Year.
Fireworks blossomed, painting the lead-gray night sky in vibrant colors, even the falling snow sparkled like diamond dust.
On the first day of the New Year, it was meant to witness the most beautiful moment and begin a brand new year.
The boy’s smile reflected in Xue Nuo’s icy blue eyes, and she found herself lost in it, genuinely cherishing this beautiful moment.
In the past, during New Year’s, she had always spent it alone in her dreams.
But this time was different.
“Teacher Xue Nuo, Happy New Year.”
“Mm… Happy New Year.”
Though it was just a normal greeting, it filled Xue Nuo with joy.
While the boy was distracted by the fireworks, she quietly leaned against him, closing her eyes.
No one knew what would happen in the coming year; beautiful wishes didn’t always come true, but…
Having the most important person was enough.
As long as I have you, that’s all I need.

The next day, the boy trudged through the snow, yawning, bathing in the morning light of the New Year, returning to his little room.
The night spent with teacher Xue Nuo was very enjoyable, but to avoid awkwardness, Roy made sure to leave ahead of her waking up.
Today he didn’t check his mailbox because, according to Veszyra’s customs, if you couldn’t gather with loved ones for the New Year, you would send letters to each other to convey safety and send blessings.
It’s somewhat like blessing texts from his past life, but because it’s less convenient than mailing, it feels far more serious.
Charlotte and the others had promised to send letters, and Roy had already sent his out. As long as they noted it was a New Year letter, the post office would hold the letters until the first day of the New Year, and deliver them all at once.
Opening the mailbox, he found five neatly arranged letters inside…
Five?
Roy scratched his head, opened an envelope that looked ancient and clearly wasn’t from a girl, and his expression instantly stiffened.
It was a letter from his dad.
Oh no, while thinking about Charlotte and the others, he forgot to write to his dad!
