Chapter 123: Sunflare
“Borrowing divine power to solve the crisis, and when we go back, you still want a pretty little sister? You brat, you’re really greedy!”
“Well, one must have dreams, right?”
Raising his head again, Phoenix wiped away the tears from the corners of his eyes, emanating a marvelous golden flame. At that moment, he became haughty and grand, exuding an overwhelming majesty.
“I, the Phoenix Queen, recognize you as the descendant of the former king. Following the blood contract, I grant you true blessings!”
With the acknowledgment of the immortal bird, Roy stepped onto the altar and gripped the divine weapon belonging to the apostle of the gods.
A burning pain surged from deep within his soul, yet what replaced it was an immeasurable power.
As if he were holding the sun.
【1 Reversal Point consumed, projecting the Blade of the Former King!】
The suspended snowflakes began to fall; time resumed its flow.
The skeletal giant struck down, its force akin to thunder, nearly sinking the ground itself.
Yet, the dazzling golden blade light pierced through the thunder, penetrating the giant’s indestructible arm.
What was expected to be a heavy blow didn’t come. Xue Nuo blinked in confusion and realized that the domineering skeletal giant had actually lost an arm, letting out a wail as its massive form collapsed to the ground.
No one had anticipated such a sudden turn of events.
In mid-air, the young boy atop the golden-winged griffin raised his blade, radiating resplendent golden brilliance.
“Everyone, the time to counterattack has come! It’s time for the demon invaders to pay the price!”
Just like last night when facing the undead general, he inspired the soldiers’ courage with fiery passion.
This time, however, it wasn’t just a morale boost.
Xue Nuo, Barry, the golden-winged griffin, and each soldier were astonished to find a surging, furnace-like warmth of power within them. Their weary spirits were replaced with high-spirited battle fervor, and their blood flowed at unprecedented speeds.
The power of the immortal bird ignited the fire in all of their hearts, burning away all resentment, stubbornness, and fear, leaving only the purest heart’s fire.
“Charge with me!”
The Bear Count regained the martial valor of his youth, leading the charge into the enemy ranks like a shooting star.
What should have been hopelessly outnumbered warriors, with the divine power of the immortal bird, began to force back the tidal wave of undead army, following the Bear Count.
As Xue Nuo looked at the border reinforcement erupting with renewed courage and strength, at the nervous and weary enemy army, and at the pale Empress who looked somewhat stunned, a fire ignited in his once-icy heart.
The flame of hope that Roy brought him.
The young boy glanced back, his golden eyes blazing with the same fire.
“Teacher Xue Nuo, I said I’d help you realize your wish, right? So what’s your wish now?”
Xue Nuo was slightly taken aback but quickly raised his head, squeezing out his most heartfelt wish with a hint of tears.
“Once all this is over, I want to go back with you.”
“Got it.”
Holding onto his mentor’s wish, Roy leaped down, charging at the Empress of the Undead.
Under the divine might of the immortal bird, Roy’s mental and extraordinary powers returned to their peak, but it was only temporary. Once the divine power faded, he feared he wouldn’t even be able to move a finger.
He had to end it quickly.
The skeletal giant attempted to retaliate but was held in place by Xue Nuo’s frost, freezing the remaining arm solidly in place.
Above the giant, the young boy swung his blade down, and the pale Empress could no longer look down upon the world from her throne; she awkwardly retreated.
The throne of the undead was cleaved into fragments by Roy’s blade.
The human warriors, who rallied in dire straits, erupted with gold radiance fueled by their souls, and the blazing soul fire in the black-haired boy’s eyes made the pale Empress recall that day.
The day the Demon King fell, and humanity launched a seemingly impossible counterattack.
“What’s this, finally scared?”
“What did you say? Scared? You think I’d be afraid of you?”
In her empty gaze, the pale flame slightly froze. The Empress of the Undead wore a grim expression, and the mist of death in the air turned into a raging wind under her fury,
“The blood of the False King merely stole a trace of divine power. Armed to the teeth, you’re still just a lowly ant! How dare you make me afraid? Who do you think you are?!”
Enraged, the Empress summoned the winds.
The mist imbued with undead power rushed in like a hurricane, like a prehistoric beast opening its bloody maw. A mere brush with it would turn mortals into bones, let alone extraordinary beings who would become mere corpses.
The wrath of high-tier extraordinary beings could shift the heavens, resembling a natural disaster. No matter how many mortals there were, a thousand or ten thousand, they could only crawl beneath divine powers.
But she was not the only one with divine power!
The young boy raised his sword high, a bright blade flickering, accompanied by the majestic cry of the phoenix. Golden flames surged upward, breaking through layers of gray mist, ultimately blooming in the sky.
The golden brilliance shredded the misty sky, while the flames transformed into morning light, heralding the soldiers to continue their counterattack.
Before the Empress could even get angry, she realized the boy had already taken a step forward.
He truly intended to kill her!
“How dare you, ant?!”
The furious Empress grasped the void, revealing a terrifying staff embedded with a heart instead of gemstones.
Twelve magic formations lit up instantly, summoning twelve battle-hardened, formidable mid-tier undead knights to become the Empress’s sharpest sword and shield, blocking the young boy’s path.
They were chosen experts among the undead, second only to a few undead generals.
Twelve layers of blades and shadows surged in with almost no blind spots.
Yet, the black-haired boy remained unfazed, merely quaking slightly, then swung his blade.
The golden flow danced brilliantly among the knights, as the spectacular brilliance dashed swiftly through the undead knights.
In the next moment, the boy was already behind the knights.
He sheathed his sword, and the undead knights, shattered under the fire of the immortal bird, released scorching firework-like bursts.
As they attempted to save their comrade, the soldiers caught in the storm of golden flame and thunder were swept away by the griffin.
The undead general, trying to draw bow and aim at the boy’s back, found himself tightly hugged to the ground by the roaring Bear Count.
A massive magic circle ignited in the air, as the second skeletal giant appeared on the battlefield, raising its arm to strike the boy down. Originally, Xue Nuo could barely hold back the skeletal giant for a moment, but now, empowered by the immortal bird, he summoned a thousand icy spikes that completely immobilized the skeletal giant’s actions.
The young boy’s footsteps could no longer be halted, and seeing the blazing gold in his eyes, a trace of fear finally appeared on the Empress’s face.
That’s right, it was just like that back then.
The furious sorcerer, wrapped in the divine fire of the immortal bird, led humanity in an almost impossible counterattack.
Even her king could not withstand that golden flame.
“You’re scared. Good.”
Roy slowly assumed the posture for a sword draw, exhaling gently, and coldly smiled: “You should be afraid.”
“Seeking death! The one who should feel fear is you!!!”
The Empress raised her staff high, and a towering pale fire began to condense into a colossal sword, falling from the sky.
The response to her was just the flash of a sword draw.
【Sunflare】.
The sunburst exploded.
The blinding sun erupted with terrifying light, taking away everyone’s sight.
When the stinging pain in their eyes subsided, they looked up at the top of the giant. The Empress was still holding her staff high, but the boy had already reached behind her.
The uncertain scene of victory left the previously deafening battlefield eerily silent for a moment.
Until a ray of morning light trickled down through the mist, slowly igniting like a spark.
The phoenix blade sheathed, the boy released a breath.
The once-unassailable king of the undead trembled, then exploded in a burst of golden blade light, igniting golden flames that fully shattered both body and soul.
