Chapter 146: We’re Holding an Amazing Competition
The teacup clattered down as Her Highness, the princess, reiterated her proposal: “So, Roy should come back to my country with me!”
“The hometown holds the most wonderful memories; it’s the environment he needs right now!”
“That’s up for debate.” The lazy witch, now perched on a different leg, chuckled, “They say school days are the most vibrant and precious; for him, the campus might be the better place.”
“Plus, school is starting soon; we can’t delay, right, Miss Xue Nuo?”
“……I think, given Roy’s exceptional abilities, there’s no need to worry about his studies.” The previously stern teacher now sported a friendly demeanor, like a neighbor’s caring older sister, “Correction. If he stays with me, I’ll make sure Roy’s studies are just fine.”
After dealing with the wicked green tea spirit, the three girls finally tried to peacefully communicate and solve their issue.
However, after several cups of black tea and sighing repeatedly, the girl in the brown dress couldn’t help but lift her delicate foot in frustration, seemingly the umpteenth time.
Even the usually resilient little maid couldn’t hold back a yawn when their tiredness from the seemingly never-ending meeting became apparent.
At this point, they had only reached two points of consensus.
First, force cannot solve this.
For extraordinary beings, brute strength is often the simplest solution.
But Roy doesn’t want anyone to get hurt.
Loving someone isn’t about possession; it’s about cherishing them. Otherwise, they could easily use force, power, or even dirtier tactics to claim Roy.
It’s precisely because they cherish and care for Roy, and don’t want him hurt both physically and mentally, that they have no such considerations.
Charlotte and Leanna both still felt uneasy from the last time Roy got angry and were unwilling to provoke him.
The former feared letting Roy down and truly losing her position in his heart. The latter knew all too well that hurting other girls is something Roy simply couldn’t tolerate.
Xue Nuo too sensed that the delicate balance among the girls was maintained due to adherence to this bottom line, and had no intention of breaking it.
Second, they couldn’t find common ground.
Yep, that’s the greatest takeaway from the meeting.
They all knew that no one would yield.
In terms of talent, power, authority, status, and even Roy’s feelings, they were evenly matched, and in such situations, naturally, no one wanted to give ground.
Charlotte rubbed her aching temples and said helplessly, “As expected, in the end, it still comes down to who’s better.”
Though not afraid of Charlotte, Leanna still revealed a look of caution, “Are you crazy? The junior will be angry.”
Charlotte shot her a glare, “What are you nervous about? I didn’t say we should settle this with force!”
“Since we all have opinions on Roy’s fate, why not let Roy himself decide? It’ll also show who he’d prefer to be with.”
“Elaborate.” Xue Nuo’s expression was neutral, but her guard remained up.
Theoretically, Roy was already in Silent Wind City, dependent on himself. But Xue Nuo sharply sensed that this princess’s proposal would not be that simple.
Charlotte sat up straight, a knowing smile on her face: “We’ll compete fairly.”
“We each get to date Roy for three hours; no one can move, and it has to be equal. Once all the dates are over, we’ll ask Roy himself who he wants to go with, and let him decide, how about that?”
Leanna instantly grasped what was at stake.
A fair duel meant that anyone who disagreed would actually seem like a coward avoiding a challenge.
It seemed to decide Roy’s fate, but in reality, it was more about the competition for their standings in Roy’s heart.
With that in mind, how could they surrender without a fight?
Leanna met Charlotte’s challenging gaze and teased, “A shallow game? Fine, I’ll join you.”
“What about you? I already offered you a chance to compete!” Charlotte shot a glance at Xue Nuo.
To be honest, Xue Nuo’s worldview had already been shaken tonight.
Just after confessing successfully, her boyfriend was being toyed with by other girls. And now she would have to watch him go on dates arranged by others.
However, Roy didn’t belong to her alone; she was the latercomer.
After a moment of hesitation, Xue Nuo nodded, “Agreed.”
Charlotte raised an eyebrow, “It’s settled then!”
“Oh, and during the dates, no kissing or any physical contact allowed!”
“Why?! You think kissing will get you pregnant, you little girl?! Can you think like an adult?!”
“I agree.” Xue Nuo quickly interrupted Leanna’s protest.
Frustrated, Leanna couldn’t swallow this and immediately added new terms: “No revealing your relationship with Roy first!”
“I agree!” Xue Nuo voted in support again.
“Are you out of your mind? That clause isn’t even beneficial to you!” Charlotte exclaimed incredulously.
Fine, fine, just keep dragging this out; I’ll take this date for myself.
Xue Nuo was about to smirk when both girls shot her death glares simultaneously, “You’re also not allowed to use your lordship status to secure a cushy spot! *2”
“Tsk!”
Come on, everyone’s got debuffs; no way you’re getting to enjoy an easy life alone!
“Wait, I’m adding this last clause: the sneaky green tea girl can’t participate!”
Charlotte’s last amendment became the only decision unanimously passed by the three girls.
Nearby, the elven girl nearly choked on her cloth, sighing at the losses.
Nia was initially at a disadvantage; she couldn’t compete openly. Had she known this would be a fair competition, why did she even bother sneaking around?!
After a series of amendments aimed at ensuring fairness, the competition plan among the three girls was finally decided.
Those anxious adventurers and nobles could never have dreamed that the conflict among these powerful extraordinary beings would be settled in such an absurd manner.
In the following days, the girls maintained a delicate balance, taking turns visiting Roy without any significant disputes breaking out.
The little maid acted like a dragonfly team captain, forever present to monitor and prevent any further sneaky incidents.
By the way, as punishment for Nia Molly’s sneaky behavior, she was stripped of her right to visit Roy.
Nia was furious but couldn’t fight back, so she resorted to playing the fool at the Adventurers’ Guild, looking for trouble and causing a significant disturbance in local law and order.
But at least these past few days, no new extraordinary presences had suddenly emerged, allowing the extraordinary beings in the city to finally catch a few good nights of sleep without worrying.
Yet peace was merely a facade.
That night, ragged-looking necromancers finally arrived at Silent Wind City after a long journey.
