I’m Really Not Trying to Be Chased by the Heroine as the Villainous Playboy! – Chapter 65

Chapter 65: Crimson

Charlotte didn’t expect to be suddenly pulled into someone’s arms, and the masculine scent that hit her made her dizzy. Her body went weak, and she just stuck right to him.

Unlike when she rode the griffon, this time she was pressed up against a strong and powerful body, feeling the difference more deeply.

“What! What are you doing all of a sudden?” She wanted to question him but ended up softening her tone.

There was even a hint of acting cute in her voice.

“Add your flames to my arrow! Let’s go together!” Roy was laser-focused on their prey, completely oblivious to anything else as he urgently instructed Charlotte.

He remembered a similar scenario from “Angel’s Dance,” where Extraordinary Beings could cooperate and combine their strengths.

“Umm? Can we really do it this way?” Charlotte was somewhat confused.

Didn’t she remember that unless their compatibility was top-notch and they had trained for years, Extraordinary Beings couldn’t pull off such complex teamwork?

While they were talking, a big fat rabbit had darted far away, leaving almost nothing but a small yellow dot in the dense green foliage.

“Trust me!”

Roy took her hand without hesitation and had her draw the bow.

Charlotte instinctively wanted to refuse, but Roy’s heavy breathing made her feel weak, her heart racing. In the end, she just let him take control.

Hmm, being treated so assertively didn’t seem so bad.

Behind her, there was a strong heartbeat that felt like a warm support in the dark night, and she relaxed.

She gave in and leaned against Roy, fully entrusting herself to him.

“I believe in you!”

The flames that Charlotte coalesced wrapped tightly around Roy’s arrow like a fiery snake.

“Now’s our chance!” Roy shouted, staring at the prey about to dive into the bushes.

With Roy aiming and Charlotte adding the flames, the girl, controlled by Roy, released the bowstring and shot an arrow straight out!

The fiery arrow soared like a dazzling meteor.

In less than a second, there was a flash of lightning in the distance, and that big fat rabbit, leaping with all its might, collided perfectly with Roy’s predicted trajectory, its feet kicking up, never to move again.

The two of them held their aiming position, not saying a word.

After three long seconds, confirming that the fat rabbit was really out of the game, Roy finally let out a breath.

Once he relaxed, a sense of achievement washed over him.

But Charlotte was even more thrilled than he expected, suddenly jumping up to hug him, as joyful as a child.

“Roy! Did you see that? We did it!”

“They say this kind of rare magical beast can only be hunted by specialized Extraordinary Being teams, but we managed it with just the two of us!”

“That just means we’re awesome!” Roy grinned.

He wanted to share this joy with her, but then he suddenly caught a whiff of sweet osmanthus.

Only then did he notice their rather awkward position.

Despite Charlotte’s lack of curves, her figure was still soft as silk and warm as tepid water. The way she jumped into him had her fully pressed against him. Let’s not even mention her chest; those slender legs wrapped in knee-high black stockings were practically entwined with his.

Most importantly, her vibrant, juicy lips were just a hairsbreadth away.

“W-wait a second!”

This didn’t seem good!

Faced with Charlotte’s overly enthusiastic embrace, Roy had no idea where to put his hands and instinctively took a step back.

And then, boom! He stumbled, pulling the boy in his arms along as they both fell backward.

“Roy!” came Charlotte’s startled cry.

A sudden earth tremor.

“I’m fine; I just took a little tumble.”

Roy mumbled, still a bit dazed.

Opening his eyes, he saw Charlotte sprawled on him like a little cat worried about its owner, her eyes filled with apologies.

Her delicate, pretty face was almost pressed against his. In their shared breaths, it was hard to distinguish where one ended and the other began; if he just looked up, he could capture those enticing, crimson lips.

The forest was silent. Only the leaves rustled.

Neither of them dared to move, fearing to touch the other, unsure of what to say in that moment.

But Charlotte’s heart raced like a startled deer.

For a moment, she nearly let her fiery heartbeat ignite her, ready to throw herself at him.

But looking into the boy’s calm black eyes, she ultimately held back.

What she wanted wasn’t just a fiery encounter.

She wanted more.

She didn’t know if Roy’s thoughts aligned with hers; she was only afraid that if she really did make a move, it would only bring about disgust and fright instead of a warm embrace.

In truth, every time they embraced was merely a result of circumstance, not out of the shy boy’s intention.

The proud princess couldn’t maintain her confidence under those dark, calm eyes.

“I’m sorry, I was a bit too excited back there,” Charlotte spoke first to break the silence, forcing a laugh as she got up.

Roy silently scoffed at the princess’s carefree attitude, turning his head away to avoid the view from under her skirt made by the black stockings.

“Who would’ve thought Charlotte had such a childish side?”

“Hmph! You’re so chatty!”

Though they were sharp-tongued, Charlotte still reached out to pull Roy up.

The touch of their palms made them both shiver.

To disguise their shaking, Charlotte put on a serious face, one hand on her hip, and dimly warned, “I was just too happy earlier, didn’t mean anything extra. Don’t get the wrong idea!”

“What’s there to misunderstand?” Roy teased, raising an eyebrow.

Charlotte’s pupils shrank. The strong tone she just managed to muster melted away, and she stammered, “J-just…”

Her heart nearly stopped.

But Roy simply grinned, “That’s why I say you’re childish, thinking too much.”

“You’re the childish one!”

Charlotte stretched out her hand to pinch Roy’s waist in frustration, but he dodged just in time.

They playfully bickered while retrieving the lightning mushroom rabbit and the prey they had dropped earlier, heading back the same way.

By the time they returned to the bush where the “cake” was hidden, the sky was dimming, and they could vaguely see a corner of the evening glow.

They packed their prey into the bags they brought with the rope, then climbed back on the griffon to head home.

This time, the griffon was moving much slower.

“Aren’t you eager to go back?”

“Not really. I want to show you something.”

“Look up.” Charlotte said with a smug little hum.

As the griffon soared, Roy looked up and saw the sprawling forest below.

The sky was painted with a dusky glow, casting a gentle golden light over the originally emerald landscape. The mountain wind brushed past, creating waves of soft pink and gold, as if time stood still and etched this enchanting view into an eternal painting.

“I used to hunt alone here all the time.”

“From childhood to now, this has always been my favorite sight. Feel honored; I’ve never shared it with anyone before!” Charlotte looked back, her face illuminated by the golden waves of the forest, smiling brightly as she shared her treasured memory.

Roy no longer needed to grasp Charlotte’s waist to maintain his balance.

But she still gently leaned against him, as if everything was just that natural.

Moved by her joy, Roy couldn’t help but smile.

This picturesque scene echoed their initial meeting, when the princess approached against the wind, inspiring him not to get caught in his own web.

And just like in Roy’s memory, vivid as fire and vibrant enough to make even the stunning sunset pale in comparison.

“Beautiful, isn’t it?”

“Right?”

Charlotte turned back, pleased with Roy’s admiration.

Little did she know that in the eyes of the person behind her, there was only that crimson hue that belonged to her.
