Chapter 119: Kid, You’re Still Green
After that, Rowlin and Angelia took the still young Alice on their journey.
While dodging the pursuit of cultists and dealing with the Holy Light Church’s chase, the hardships were relentless. Yet, Alice’s presence added a faint but bright color to their suffocating travels.
One sunny afternoon, looking at the sleeping child in Rowlin’s arms, Angelia suddenly asked, “Hey, shouldn’t we give this kid a name?”
“Good point. Calling her Holy Maiden overlaps with your attributes.”
Rowlin thought for a moment and mysteriously smiled, “Let’s call her Feng Aotian!”
Angelia instantly wore a look of confusion.
That doesn’t sound like a serious name at all!
“You’re joking, right?”
Rowlin smiled back quietly.
Angelia went nuts: “You’re really kidding, right?!”
“Forget it, you’re too unreliable! A name is proof of a person’s existence; such an important matter can’t be left to you!”
Angelia snatched the child away, pondered for a moment, then caught sight of a white silhouette.
Pure white flowers gently swayed in the soft sunlight, unfolding their serene beauty.
Angelia felt something and rubbed the little Holy Maiden’s head, “Let’s call her Alice (Iris).”
“…… I think Feng Aotian is better.”
“Come on, mine has meaning!”
Angelia raised her finger and explained earnestly, “The iris symbolizes good news, missing you, the messenger of love, and…”
“A fairy tale.”
As if treating the world’s most precious treasure, the blonde Holy Maiden gently held her close, radiating maternal brilliance.
That was a light she never had the chance to unleash in her lifetime.
As the Holy Maiden, she knew better than anyone that the bloodline of an “Angel” felt more like a curse than a blessing.
This child was born accompanied by a curse.
But her life would not be defined solely by this curse.
“I hope she lives up to her name and gets a fairy tale ending.”
Rowlin was silent for a moment, then cheerfully smiled, “She will.”
The soft sunlight, vibrant fragrance, Rowlin, Angelia, and Alice blended into shadows, drifting away with the wind.
In Roy’s eyes, Rowlin and Angelia had reached their respective endings, even realizing their fate at that very moment.
Yet, despite everything, they sincerely hoped Alice would have a different ending from theirs.
An ending like an iris flower in the morning light.
The bloodline of an “Angel” was undoubtedly a curse, but destiny was never set in stone.
Roy opened his eyes, gazing toward the sky.
The night slowly faded, revealing a hint of soft light.
Roy reached out to that unreachable line of light and grasped it tightly.
After night comes dawn.
What Angelia wished for, what Rowlin couldn’t achieve, he would take upon himself.
Change it all and bring her a fairy tale ending.
——————————
As morning light broke, mist enveloped the area.
A cavalry unit of two thousand was slowly advancing under Simon’s leadership, lingering in the fog.
Initially, no one paid attention to the mist, but after about ten minutes, when they couldn’t escape it and the outlines of surrounding buildings vanished, it was so quiet that even bird songs and human voices could no longer be heard, even the believers of the Holy Light began to waver.
The morning in the port city was often accompanied by sea fog.
But still, even that shouldn’t confuse a group of Extraordinary Beings.
Simon paused and sighed.
“Ladies, you really have to pull out the stops, but you wouldn’t use this kind of illusion array to trap us, would you?”
The mist slightly dispersed, outlining the dignified figure of the Holy Nun surrounded by Holy Light.
However, apart from her, the knights clad in armor and the nuns holding crosses surrounded Simon’s team as if laying siege.
Theresa was polite, “Mr. Simon, it’s rather abrupt to leave without saying a word. At least, let me extend some local hospitality.”
However, contrary to her friendly demeanor, the pressure from the high-level Extraordinary Beings stilled the mist, forming an insurmountable barrier in front of Simon.
Simon’s tone turned colder: “I believe our Holy Light Church’s activities are not necessary to report to you one by one.”
“That’s indeed unnecessary. But at the very least, let me meet the Holy Maiden? That child just lost her beloved guard and is heartbroken. Taking her away from the Western continent now seems a bit unkind, doesn’t it?”
“Precisely because she’s heartbroken that she doesn’t want to revisit old pains. The Holy Maiden does wish to see you.”
“Is it that she doesn’t want to, or can’t?”
Theresa’s gaze fell upon the exquisite carriage behind Simon.
In the next breath.
A blinding light darted towards the carriage, striking down so fast that the guards beside it couldn’t react in time.
However, Simon also charged forward at the same moment, delivering a countering strike.
It wasn’t any extraordinary ability, just a pure release of Holy Light pressure.
Merely that prompted a horrifying whirlwind, toppling nearby knights and scattering the heavy mist.
The confrontation lasted only an instant, yet Simon was pushed back half a step.
And the shockwave created by Theresa successfully knocked over the carriage.
A white horse collapsed, and a blonde girl, who was definitely not Alice, tumbled out of the carriage.
Simon wasn’t angry at all; instead, he straightened his robes and smiled gently.
“You thought I wouldn’t notice the movements in White Harbor?”
“The six heroes saving the world certainly will not give up so easily.”
“But unfortunately, the Holy Maiden isn’t here.”
“The Church doesn’t want to turn on its comrades, Theresa. Consider carefully; if you back down now, I can forgive your earlier offense.”
The Inquisition’s clerics were relentlessly surveilling the knights and nuns in White Harbor and were already aware of the comings and goings within the church.
Plus, with reminders from the Pope, the Celestial Angel had long been prepared.
However, upon hearing this, Theresa tore away her hypocritical facade, revealing a sneer completely unlike a nun’s.
“Kid, you’re still green.”
“How do you think I wouldn’t know that you can detect my movements?”
Theresa flicked her hand up, unleashing a flash of magical light.
The dazzling Holy Light cut through the thin night.
This indicated that Alice was not present here.
This action made Simon’s expression change instantly.
Meanwhile, at the White Harbor port.
A group of clerics, nuns, and mid-tier knights, led by the Sword Saint, arrived at the port.
Just when everyone was eager to escort the cloaked girl toward the warship, Rayo lifted his sword’s hilt to block them.
“Sword Saint?”
Rayo didn’t reply but directly gazed at the Church’s warship.
“Come out.”
As the words fell, hundreds of griffins took to the air, and more archers appeared on the deck, with two more warships flanking to surround the Church’s vessel, raising rows of giant cannons.
But more unsettling than this military force were the mid-tier Extraordinary Beings.
The Iron Blood Knights of the Lionheart Kingdom, the Ice Rose of the Winter Empire, the Adventurer “Wind Whisper” from the Green Parliament, Lisanna the head of the Purple Magic School, the captain of the Wind Shadow Guard from the Golden Sand Nation, and the commander of the South Sea nation’s navy.
A total of six series 5 Extraordinary Beings, dispatched by various forces to guard this area.
If a series 5 being equated to one against thousands, then the force currently stationed at the port amounted to a total of sixty thousand troops!
Even the clerics of the Inquisition, who had fought bloody battles against the cultists, couldn’t hide their ugly expressions at this moment.
