Chapter 56: Even Ants Can Hurt
“Go ahead and start killing.”
The cold announcement was no empty threat; it was the decree of the Ice Dragon King.
With a single step, the ground shook as if mountains would crumble.
The icy winds howled, and the slender figure instantly turned monstrous, a terrifying pressure transforming into a fierce blizzard that rampaged through the canyon. Countless dragons roared in unison, greeting the king’s arrival.
The enormous body blotted out the sun, silver-blue scales reflecting the grandeur of snowy peaks. As the Ice Dragon spread its wings, countless ice crystals fell like sharp blades—brilliant yet deadly.
Only by facing the majesty of the Lord of the Skies could one truly feel that their pride was not without reason.
In contrast, mere mortals were nothing but ants.
Even Roy, who had faced many high-tier Extraordinary Beings, felt his heart tighten and his hairs stand on end at this moment.
Unlike the injured Bloodfire Dragon from before, the opponent now was a mythical creature in perfect form!
Even the arrogant Golden-Winged Griffin grew restless: “Big Brother, what should we do next?”
“Run.”
“What?”
Roy slapped its behind: “What are you dawdling for? Run!”
Dragon claws lunged.
Among all mythical beasts, dragons were the epitome of brute force and destruction.
Even the slightest movement felt like an iceberg crashing down, casting a massive shadow.
The Golden-Winged Griffin wasted no time, transforming into a blur and dashing away, narrowly escaping the glacier.
But Malygos was right on its tail, its massive form barely needing to flap its wings, swiping again with its claws, making it impossible for the golden flash to dodge.
Until a gigantic fireball fell, exploding against Malygos’s head.
After transforming, the dragon’s scales gained an additional layer of defense.
Natsu’s strike, capable of killing pure-blood dragons, couldn’t pierce the crystalline surface of Malygos. However, the explosion briefly obscured its vision, creating a chance for a real attack.
The knight riding the Griffin, a Iron-Blood knight, had somehow crossed through the storm and arrived beneath the great dragon.
The magic sword was drawn, unleashing a whirlwind of blood-red light.
With Roy’s pre-charged Blood Forge Sword, it was ready to unleash a full-power attack of Sequence 5 without much effort, and Karl had added Vitality Burst on top of that.
Just as the Golden-Winged Griffin was about to be struck down by the dragon’s claws, a pillar of sword light shot straight up, striking the claw and deflecting that fatal blow just enough.
It was this small margin that created a glimmer of hope, allowing the Griffin to narrowly escape the icy claws once more.
Even so, without Cold Resistance, the Griffin was thoroughly chilled by the storm, shivering and crying out.
“Big Brother, hurry up and use your invincible False King’s bloodline to think of something, aaahhh!”
“You just focus on running!”
Still as water.
Roy, along with Cheese, concealed their presence.
He had experimented with this tactic himself; as long as he didn’t attack, it was hard for any regular Sequence 4 to lock onto his aura.
However, Malygos revealed a look of disdain.
“Using the same trick again means you’re out of options.”
With a flick of a claw, a surge of frost rose from the ground, transforming into a visible wave of chilling cold.
Even if Malygos couldn’t pinpoint Roy’s aura, its overwhelming attack could cover vast areas.
As expected, the blizzard exposed an unusual flicker. The Golden-Winged Griffin was tossed about by the snowstorm, its frost-covered form impossible to miss.
Malygos cackled in delight, ready to attack again, but suddenly, a booming voice echoed from above.
“Before you move him, you’ll have to get through me first!”
Natsu leaped into the air, like a heavy bomb descending, crashing down onto Malygos’s head.
The primal flames surged powerfully, the flames from the Inferno Lion King rightfully lived up to the title of the strongest fire ability; even the Frost Dragon’s ice quickly melted in the intense heat.
Yet, even as a massive shield of frost evaporated into steam, the silver-blue scales remained rock-solid, completely unmoved.
The disparity in power levels and elemental advantages showed themselves to be pitifully small before such overwhelming bloodline superiority.
That blow still didn’t harm Malygos in the slightest, but it was enough to infuriate the Frost King further.
“You want to die!”
Before Natsu could strike again, the Ice Dragon soared into the air, knocking him down mid-flight.
Just as the prince of the Lion Heart was about to be turned into mincemeat, the crimson glow returned to the battlefield.
Bloodline Awakening.
The essence of Iron-Blood is forged by generations of Ainbrad knights, who fought through blood-soaked battles. A true knight, both a sharp blade against foes and an unbreakable shield.
The towering crimson knight charged forward, colliding with the icy dragon, smashing it against the mountain wall. The impact shattered the mountain, large chunks of earth raining down like a torrential downpour, causing the stream to whirl and the ground to shake.
Having led the knights of Iron-Blood Ridge through countless life-and-death situations, the reputation of Iron-Blood was not built on empty claims.
Yet Malygos’s gaze remained unfazed.
“Ridiculous.”
It didn’t even need to attack.
Touching the dragon’s body meant facing its icy grip.
The blood-red knight never got the chance to strike back before he froze in the storm.
And Karl, himself, fell to his knees, pale, blood oozing from his body.
The frantic battle left no time to recover the potions; both physical injuries and the expenditure of Extraordinary Power had reached their limits.
Unable to fight back, just being pushed back by the Ice Dragon reduced the knight’s silhouette to a flurry of ice shards, fading away.
No one could stop the Frost King’s hunt.
The icy power took to the skies.
The immense Sequence 4 mythical beast was massive but certainly not clumsy.
In an instant, the Ice Dragon closed in on the golden flash.
Cheese cried and shouted, twisting and turning in a desperate effort to evade the blow. But it finally got swept away by the cold wind, separating from Roy.
At this point, Malygos finally smirked.
Having lost its mount, the black-haired boy was utterly defenseless in mid-air, a sitting duck, an ant that could be squashed with ease.
Dragon claws lunged, each fingertip comparable to icy blades of Sequence 5, aiming to tear the boy apart up in the sky.
In the air, the crimson-shining Iron-Blood knight appeared to block the attack.
The opponent wouldn’t simply surrender, so naturally, countering the attack was within Malygos’s expectations, but it didn’t care.
Unexpectedly, the ice claw merely stalled for a moment before piercing through the knight formed from the Iron-Blood essence.
Then, a flash of red fire ignited once more, further diminishing the dragon claw’s might.
Malygos frowned slightly.
The claws struck, spilling forth a pool of blood. However, it wasn’t the clean slice it expected; it was like stepping hard on a rock, causing damage but not truly shattering it.
The False King’s blood was indeed as troublesome as rumored.
But this was where things would end.
Just one blow had severely injured him.
Another hit, and he would definitely die.
Thinking this, Malygos decisively launched a second claw attack, but it never anticipated that the black-haired boy would not intend to block it; instead, he spiraled downward rapidly, raising his sword with his bloodied, battered body.
The extraordinary power, which should have faded with life, surged upward instead, and by the time Malygos noticed something off, it was already too late.
“Sorry, even ants can bite.”
What collided with the icy blue claws was a torrent of dragon flames far beyond the previous sword strike.
