Chapter 84: The Hero’s Victory
The thunder roared, freezing the world around.
Whether it was the brave knight or the bloodthirsty dragon, under that overwhelming pressure, they were all left stunned, filled with awe.
The storm woven from dual-colored lightning was no longer a realm even the extraordinary could tread.
A clash between legends, capable of obliterating everything.
The dragon herd near the volcano instinctively submitted, daring neither to ascend nor lift their heads in the face of the apex dragon’s might.
The Dragon King’s power was the strongest even among the gods. No matter how high the lineage was, unless one stepped into demigod status, other mythical beings would struggle to resist and would reveal a fleeting opening.
In a narrow encounter, the hero prevails.
By intimidating the opponent with pressure, creating even a momentary flaw, and then using pure violence to tear them apart—this was the most instinctual battle tactic imprinted in the dragon race’s bloodline.
However, Nidhogg never expected that besides the gods, there was someone who could confront his pressure directly.
No, not confront, but nullify it.
The shared bloodline pressure collided, and they couldn’t determine a victor.
He hadn’t even entered the realm of mythical beings!
Without time for surprise, the black-haired boy stepped forth again, moving with the ephemeral grace of a water moon, sword in hand.
Roy didn’t hope the “Dragon King’s Might” would intimidate this black dragon that had once swatted at Bahamut, but as long as he ensured he wouldn’t be intimidated himself, that was enough.
In direct combat, Roy at sequence 5 was certainly no match for Nidhogg; with strength and speed at a disadvantage, relying solely on “Mirror Flower Water Moon” would only prolong the battle.
But besides “Dragon King’s Might,” he had other means of restraint.
“Bard’s Illusory Song”!
Invisible, illusory ripples poured forth from the boy’s throat.
Unavoidable, indefensible, the dragon clan excelled at pure destruction and simply couldn’t counter the unpredictable, extraordinary magic of the sea dweller merfolk.
Nidhogg was caught off guard, his mind seemingly boiling, the searing pain in his head led to the first expression of suffering to mar his visage, his fierce aura spilling out chaotically, putting him off balance.
Perhaps due to Nidhogg’s unstable mental state, his defense against the illusionary attack was weaker, and this move had effects far beyond expectations.
Roy wasted no time, his gaze sharpening as he crossed his swords, channeling all his might into the blades.
“True Blood Burst”!
“Phantom Erosion” + “Extinguish”!
The surging power almost felt on the verge of bursting his heart, and the dragon clan’s raging strength poured forth like an unstoppable flood, transforming into overlapping dragon roars.
The Erosion King’s acidic rain devoured all, and the breath formed from thousands of acid rains was the most difficult to defend against in the Seven Great Dragons.
Nidhogg immediately crossed his arms to try and block, but the ghostly green corrosive blade still sliced right through.
The splashing acid melted his black scales, followed closely by a roaring dragon’s flame that erupted on Nidhogg’s flesh.
The first sword peeled away scales, the second ignited flesh; just those two swords consumed all of Roy’s extraordinary power, and the explosive lethality was far from just 1+1.
No sequence 5 could be destroyed under this sword, and even the sky dragons protected by dragon scales finally fell back before the same-source power.
A section of the crumbling volcano collapsed as Nidhogg was blasted away into the rocky terrain.
Differing abilities almost entirely annihilated Nidhogg’s human disguise, and the horrific scars of acid and flame were deeply imprinted on his chest.
The dragon herd roared in fury.
Nidhogg froze for a moment but then spat blood and let out a cold laugh.
“How shameless, using the power of my kin to strike me. The blood of the False King is the dirtiest among humans, just like that Ziegfried!”
Looking at the distant black-haired boy, a memory surged within him as Nidhogg squinted intensely, as if wanting to erase him from this world.
“Do you know why I chose to battle in human form?”
“Fafnir said she liked humans but was betrayed. I intended to take your form and annihilate you all as a tribute. But since you so audaciously wield the power of my clan…”
“Then let’s witness the power of a true dragon!”
Nidhogg suddenly rose, arms wide open.
A wild wind pressure swept across the volcano.
Roy did not advance.
The injuries of a human form appeared severe, but they caused limited harm to a dragon’s true body. Unlike the cultists’ transformation, the transformation of a dragon of the Seven Great Dragons merely shed the bonds of false illusions; it could not be interrupted.
Accompanied by a deep breath, the pitch-black dragon appeared in the sky.
The brutal wind pressure howled from the doomsday volcano, sweeping thousands of miles away, signaling the arrival of the dragon king.
Whether it was Karl, Naz, leading the griffin knights, or the soldiers above the castle, their expressions changed drastically in that moment.
The dragon herd cheered wildly, offering praise to the Demon Dragon King, diving into the battlefield for even more slaughter.
Morigoth, who was confronting Charlotte, couldn’t help but chuckle.
“It’s over; your knight will die before you.”
“Nidhogg is the closest to our father among us, and even the blood of a False King is but ants before him.”
Without a reply, Charlotte couldn’t help but glance toward the direction of the volcano.
“Are you distracted in front of me?!”
The ice dragon sneered and lunged again, forcing Charlotte to regain focus and hurriedly counter.
But this time, the crimson flames were no longer as ferocious, the blooming red lotus still swayed uncertainty in the wind.
Atop the volcano.
The black dragon loomed menacingly, a claw slashing down.
It was unlike any of the previous sky dragons, proud but not arrogant, Nidhogg’s first strike in its dragon form was with all its power!
Faced with this terrifying blow, Roy could only do one thing.
“Cheese!”
Lightning flashed, just barely pulling Roy away from the edge of destruction caused by the dragon’s claw, ascending into the air.
“Big brother, are you sure you can take that thing down?!”
“Just fly… Beware, it’s coming again!”
Before he finished speaking, the massive black dragon was barreling toward them.
“Cheese” was so frightened its fur stood on end, mustering all its strength.
“Lightning Flash!”
In an instant, the golden-winged griffin transformed into a pure energy entity, its speed skyrocketing, carrying Roy away from Nidhogg, appearing a kilometer away in the next moment.
Nidhogg wouldn’t be outdone, flapping its wings in pursuit.
The golden lightning and the pitch-black meteor chased through the sky, intertwining like two dots, tracing a dazzling arc.
The black dragon roared in anger, repeatedly swiping its claws and whipping its tail, trying to catch the golden lightning, only to always be a step behind, infuriated.
The golden-winged griffin was not at ease, crying out in distress, darting, then pausing, narrowly dodging the massive dragon’s blind spots, each evasion a test of limits, brushing against death.
“I can’t hold on for long, big brother!”
“Lightning Flash” had a significant cost for mid-level usage.
Gripping the reins tightly, lowering its body, narrowly dodging another dragon claw, Roy gritted his teeth and murmured, “Dive into its embrace.”
“Wha-what?!”
“Dive into its embrace! If we don’t counterattack, we’ll end up being swatted like mosquitoes!”
Does diving into its embrace mean we won’t get swatted?!
Grumbling internally, “Cheese” didn’t dare waste time.
Once more, it dodged the incoming claw, the golden-winged griffin dove downward.
With a flash of lightning, Roy sharply raised the Flame Dragon Blade in his hand, intercepting downward with a slash.
