Chapter 115: Nia Returns!
Academy City gathers elite adventurers from all over the world, but the real action always happens at the guilds near the border.
Knights in blood-stained armor face off against fearsome orcs, while mages casually tweak their potions. Each table of adventurers is either happily discussing their next mission or coming back with spoils in hand.
Wine, roasted meat, and the bloody scent of monster carcasses paint a romantic picture for adventurers.
Unlike the guilds within the city, the border guild is much busier, with adventurers active on the front lines year-round, making them more battle-hardened.
Rude chatter and drunken brawls are common, with adventurers fighting and shouting in every corner, creating a noisy and lively atmosphere.
Few women would enjoy such a chaotic scene.
Unless she’s a born adventurer.
“Oh, finally back!”
A girl in a dark green cloak stepped into the guild, escorted by an archer with bare arms.
Her emerald green ponytail swayed lightly, her slim waist and ample curves barely hidden under her robes, and her sweet, nightingale-like voice made the chaos feel like a spring breeze, captivating everyone.
Compared to the lofty nobility or cold saintesses, elven girls are every adventurer’s dream match, perfectly in sync with thrilling adventures.
The descendants of the Verdant Court rarely venture outside the Elven Forest, so when the nightingale girl appeared, countless adventurers felt their hearts race, thinking they had stumbled upon a piece of adventurer romance.
Drinks were set down, quests abandoned, and even fistfights paused as eyes turned to that enchanting green figure.
“Nia, my lady, you’ve worked hard on your mission!”
“Hehe, it was nothing.”
“So by the procedure, congratulations! You’re officially an A-ranked adventurer now!”
Just a few lines of dialogue left everyone dumbfounded.
When the green elf grinned back, the adventurers lost their courage to pursue or bother the nightingale girl.
Bloodline rank only represents potential limits, noble titles reflect one’s prestigious birth, while extraordinary power isn’t something achieved overnight. An adventurer’s rank is purely earned through strength, leaving no room for deception whatsoever.
As an A-ranked adventurer, she’s at least Sequence 7, and the strongest could even be Sequence 5—definitely not someone they’d dare offend.
Seeing the rude adventurers awkwardly bow their heads, Nia finally satisfied her gaze and turned back to the guild’s receptionist.
“So, can I challenge for S-rank now?”
“Uh…”
The receptionist replied helplessly, “Reaching Sequence 5 at your age is remarkable, Nia.”
“But S rank is really tough.”
“You need to either reach a higher tier and become a legend, or make significant contributions to the guild or even the human world, just like that Sword Demon last year.”
Nia wasn’t discouraged; grinning, she took her updated adventurer badge and showed it off to her partner beside her.
“Did you hear that, Big Sister Nana? They said I’m amazing!”
“You little…”
Natasha murmured, taking a mug of honey wine. She found it amusing but still praised her, “Well, they’re not wrong.”
“You’ve definitely accomplished a lot these past few months—jumping from Sequence 7 to Sequence 5 is exceptional.”
“Flattery, flattery.” Nia feigned modesty, but her smile was as bright as flowers.
After sipping her drink, Natasha suddenly, like an elder, sighed, “I didn’t expect you to ever want to improve!”
“When you first asked me to accompany you on adventures, I thought you were cursed by some evil wizard or something!”
“Hey, what do you take me for? I’m not always slacking off, you know!”
Snatching Natasha’s drink, Nia downed it in one go, her cheeks resting on her hands, swallowing the wine but truly feeling helpless.
If only she could slack off.
The problem was, there were several overachievers around!
Leanna and Xue Nuo already outpaced her in bloodline rank, Alice just hit Sequence 5, and it was only a matter of time before she reached Sequence 4—even that short-tempered flat-chested girl was a level higher!
Seriously, can we just date without one-upping each other in strength?! You’re all so strong, and I’m stuck at Sequence 7—this is seriously embarrassing!
This, this won’t do!
At this rate, I can’t even win an argument or a fight, and I’ll just be reduced to the one who has to push them around!
For the sake of gaining the upper hand in future family power struggles and not letting Roy think she’s weak, Nia resolved to discreetly get stronger and amaze everyone!
After breaking through Sequence 6 and stepping into the intermediate grade, followed by stepping into Sequence 5 through harsh life-and-death trials, her speed of advancement outpaced Charlotte, and surpassing Alice would be just a matter of time! Soon, she’d overtake the others who had age advantages, claiming the title of head of the harem!
Just ask who can compete with her?!
“Ahem, I just want to get stronger to help Roy and the others a bit.” Nia at least found a somewhat noble reason.
Natasha ordered another drink, tears almost welling up in her eyes, “Wow, you’ve really grown up.”
Looking at Natasha’s motherly expression of emotion, Nia’s lips twitched as she ultimately swallowed the truth about wanting to grow stronger to compete for a guy down deep.
“By the way, it feels like we’ve been gone a while. I wonder how Roy and the others are doing.”
Getting news in the Adventurers’ Guild isn’t too hard.
With the title of A-ranked adventurer and the appearance of an elven beauty, Nia didn’t even have to spend a penny to get the latest info about the kingdom from a few respectful and even somewhat fawning adventurers.
An elven girl adventurer with both strength and looks was clearly in a different world from them, so being approached was bound to cause some flutters.
“Is it all over?”
“The dragon-slaying hero? He killed the dragon?!”
“Hehe, as expected of the man we had our eyes on—talk about timing!”
Nia’s musings shattered the budding fantasies of a few young men.
If she really had a thing for that dragon-slaying knight from Lionheart, the greatest talent of the western continent, they’d better go get some sleep.
But…
“Nia, you didn’t know? That dragon-slaying knight has already proposed to the Lionheart princess!”
“…Huh?”
Nia’s smile vanished in an instant.
“Not only that, but I heard the Holy Maiden from White Harbor has also arrived in the royal capital, getting all tangled up with the dragon-slaying knight!”
Nia’s eyebrows began to twitch.
“How long ago was this news?” Taking a deep breath, Nia finally asked.
The adventurers exchanged glances before one cautiously replied, “About a month… ago?”
Nia rolled her eyes and fell over on the spot.
