Chapter 2: The Most Adorable Elf Girlfriend
The sudden scene left everyone dumbfounded.
The magic academy’s masters and apprentices understood what was happening, especially Xue Nuo and Roy, who were around the same age and at the age of discussing marriage, so the rumors between them were certainly not few.
The problem was, this was right in front of the main party!
Their lord was being teased, and a warrior from the imperial border instinctively wanted to draw his weapon, only to realize that it seemed to be their own lord teasing a noble from another country— it left him in an awkward situation.
The nobles from the Lionheart faction, along with the cleric from White Harbor, were filled with killing intent, but seeing Charlotte and Alice unmoved made them hesitant to overstep.
Meanwhile, the wizards were having a field day, simply eating popcorn and enjoying the show.
Rumor had it that Roy Ainbrad’s private life was extremely chaotic, and they finally witnessed it today!
After a period of strange silence, Xue Nuo finally separated from the young boy.
That lengthy kiss almost left Roy dazed, his bones felt weak, and he nearly lost his balance.
Only then did Xue Nuo wipe the corner of her mouth, glance at the other two girls, and say bluntly, “Take care of him.”
Without waiting for a response, Xue Nuo immediately turned and stepped onto the carriage, leading the troops from the imperial border back home.
In front of everyone, Charlotte and Alice didn’t directly explode with anger.
However, one had a smile on her face while her temple bulged with anger, and the other had an expression as cold as ice, her gaze seemed unfocused, making Roy feel utterly miserable.
“Putting on such a show in public, who would’ve thought you had this kind of hobby?”
“Alice thinks that there should be an appropriate distance between masters and apprentices, and Roy isn’t doing very well in this regard.”
Now Roy was in real trouble.
“Teacher, you enjoyed yourself and left; did you even think about who would bear the brunt of their anger? Just one little kiss, and I have to pay the price for your recklessness all night long!”
Looking at the two girls with the ‘you’ll pay for this tonight’ expression, knowing the inevitable punishment awaited him, Roy felt like crying without tears, like a salted fish that had lost its dreams.
In the carriage, caressing her still-warm lips, savoring the youthfulness she had just tasted, Xue Nuo’s cheeks began to blush a shade that didn’t match her status as a border lord.
Watching the boy accompanied by two girls as the carriage slowly vanished into the distance, Xue Nuo felt a pang of distraction.
Roy was already reliable enough.
With them by his side, he wouldn’t be lonely anymore.
He didn’t need to worry about her anymore.
Instead, she was the one, stuck at Sequence 5 for so long, and now had to make her own apprentice worry about her…
This couldn’t continue.
With that in mind, Xue Nuo closed her eyes—
The wind howled.
The air was sharp.
Her slender brows slightly relaxed, when her icy blue eyes reappeared in the world, they radiated not the warmth that could win a boy’s heart, but a coldness that seemed to freeze everything.
Even in the summer nights, before the furious “Ice Rose,” it fell into a wintry chill.
The silver-haired lord sat on her high seat, coldly sighed: “Raiding villages, humiliating citizens, and even slaughtering… As a fellow noble of the empire, I truly feel ashamed for you.”
The pressure from Sequence 5 forced a group of captives to kneel and bow their heads, only one large and muscular noble angrily retorted: “Enough of this!”
“How long do you think you can act so arrogantly? When the Emperor eliminates you, Anderviss will become history, and you, the border rabble, will be reduced to servants in this era. And you, Xue Nuo Anderviss, will merely become the mother dog of the next duke…!”
With a tap of her snowy fingers, ice shards glimmered, extreme cold manifested, and the crisp sound silenced the noise abruptly.
The ugly noble didn’t even have time to gasp before the ice shards pierced through him, freezing his organs, resembling a beautiful… rose.
Xue Nuo didn’t explicitly tell Roy.
The disputes between factions were trivial compared to the existence of several villages.
However, even Xue Nuo hadn’t expected the atrocities like village slaughter wouldn’t come from cults or foreign races, but from their own compatriots.
Now was not the time.
War required the accumulation of strength, and the royal provocations were painfully obvious. Xue Nuo understood that sending troops now would be playing right into that empress’s hands.
However, this didn’t mean the culprit wouldn’t have to pay the price.
Xue Nuo pointed at the twisted bloody rose at her feet: “Relocate all the villagers from the eastern border back to the interior, and hang their corpses in the center of every village like this.”
“An eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth, to tell the empress that one day, her fate will be just like theirs.”
“No! I’m a noble; my family can pay a ransom!”
“Spare me, I was just following orders!”
“Lord Xue Nuo! Please, I’m willing to pledge loyalty to you…!”
Whether it was pleading or shouting, everything was obliterated beneath the cold wind and snow.
Looking out at the whistling snow night, recalling the hasty parting from that morning, Xue Nuo felt lost.
——————————
Sometimes, being too famous isn’t a good thing.
The dragon-slaying hero returned today, and the whole academy city showered him with the grandest cheers. Residents, followers of the Holy Light, and even various nobles formed an impromptu welcome line that nearly blocked all passages, making it difficult for Roy and the others to advance.
But right now, all I want is to sleep. Isn’t it a bit excessive to have so many formalities?!
“Better get used to it; once we get married, there’ll be a lot more of these scenes in the future.”
Under Charlotte’s sarcasm, Roy had no choice but to accept reality helplessly.
The sky was bright when they entered the city, but by the time they returned to the academy dormitory, the sun was already setting.
The two girls went to their rooms to pack their bags and change clothes, while Roy casually tossed off his coat and collapsed onto the sofa like a salted fish.
After almost an entire semester of bloody battles and dragon-slaying, along with the companionship of two girls day and night, now that he was back in his cozy little nest, Roy just wanted to laze around, not wanting to lift a finger.
Unexpectedly, his sight suddenly went dark.
“Guess who I am?”
The familiar silver-bell-like voice and the fresh fragrance of jasmine filled the air. The gentle pressure at the back of his head wasn’t from some princess but was even softer than Alice’s, making Roy instantly relax without reacting overly.
Considering he was at Sequence 4, to be able to approach him silently was quite a development for her!
With this thought, Roy casually said: “I guess it’s a certain adorable little elf, right?”
“Unfortunately, that answer is incorrect. Just being cute doesn’t really tell me who you’re talking about.”
Roy touched the little hand over his eyes, confirming the position of the person: “If you’re not a little elf, then you must be my most adorable elf girlfriend.”
“Tsk tsk, although that’s the truth, it’s too narcissistic, so that answer is still wrong. Sorry, you only have one chance left…!”
Her frivolous tone suddenly paused.
Because Roy had already leaned back, breaking free of her gentle grasp, and reaching out, cupping that lovely face.
Seeing the surprised expression of the elf girl, Roy couldn’t help but chuckle with delight.
“Mm, it’s definitely my most adorable elf girlfriend.”
