Limitless Ascension: Strength Amid Adversity – Chapter 581

West Ze Immortal Domain.

Here, masters are as numerous as trees, powerful figures emerge in droves, and it’s reputed to have an overall strength only second to the Middle Earth Immortal Domain.

Bi Yang Great Region.

In the Tian Qiong Mountain Range, the undulating mountains drift with a mist of immortal aura, surrounded by a vast river that flows like a silver jade ribbon. The river gurgles, its surface sparkling under the sunlight, truly a sight for sore eyes.

By the riverbank, an elegant old man dressed like a scholar quietly fishes, holding a fishing rod made of bamboo.

Suddenly, he flicks his arm, and a gigantic fish, resembling a whale with a unicorn-like horn on its forehead, leaps out of the water, its mouth still clinging to the hook, its large fish eyes wide open in disbelief.

It never expected to be caught by such a minuscule old man of the Human Race.

“Got you!”

Canglang Jun raised his hand, and countless water arrows erupted from the surface, immediately shooting toward the giant fish.

“Human Race, you won’t get away with this!” The horned fish, furious, thrashed about violently, its scales glowing white, looking practically indestructible.

The horned fish was at the level of an Immortal King, a local tyrant in these waters.

But too bad for it—it was facing an Immortal Emperor!

Pfft, pfft, pfft~

Numerous tiny water arrows pierced through the horned fish’s body, instantly turning the water red with blood.

“Catch!”

Canglang Jun shouted, and the gasping horned fish shrank rapidly, eventually becoming the size of a palm, which he casually tossed into the fish basket beside him.

Inside the basket, all sorts of aquatic tyrants, from fish to shrimp to crabs, were piled together.

Canglang Jun glanced at the seafood in the basket and chuckled bitterly, “Is this enough for Senior Ye?”

No joke, with higher cultivation levels comes a higher appetite, especially someone like Ye Junlin who was at the Immortal Emperor level.

These seafood bits were just enough to satisfy his craving a little, maybe just a snack.

“Ugh, this job of serving people really isn’t easy. I hope I can find Bai Xiaoxi soon; with her cooking skills, one of her meals is worth a hundred of these old man’s efforts!”

Thinking of Bai Xiaoxi, Canglang Jun couldn’t help but sigh.

After that, the old man shouldered the fish basket, ready to find another spot and continue his fishing.

It seemed he planned to catch all the aquatic tyrants in the entire mountain range, thinking this return would cover his bases.

Just then, loud voices came from behind.

“Stop! You two little brats dared to slip away while I wasn’t looking; if I catch you, I’ll skin you both alive!”

“Get moving, don’t let those two little brats get away!”

“Yes, Lord Hong!”

“Hmm?”

Canglang Jun raised an eyebrow, releasing his Immortal Emperor-level Divine Sense and sweeping the area.

He saw a pair of dusty-faced siblings, panting and fleeing, their clothes ragged like beggars.

Notably, they both had dog noses and ears, their faces filled with panic and despair, glancing back every now and then, terrified of being caught by the group behind them.

At the lead was a blue-clothed man with a long braid, wielding a shiny big sword that was stained with blood, his eyes fierce and filled with rage, just itching to tear the siblings apart.

“Brother, just leave me and run!” the girl cried, her face growing paler, beads of sweat rolling down.

“Little sister, what are you talking about? How could I abandon you?”

The simple-looking boy sensed something was wrong with his sister, noticing the trail of blood left behind her. His heart dropped, tears streaming as he realized how badly hurt she was.

“Brother, please just go…”

“Impossible! I will never leave you!” The boy swallowed his pain, disregarding her protests as he lifted her onto his back and sprinted forward with all his might.

His dog nose caught a whiff of a human aura up ahead, and though he thought about changing direction, it was a dead end on both sides. Only moving forward offered a glimmer of hope.

“You little brats can’t escape!” the braided man shouted harshly.

“Sir, please step aside!” the boy pleaded, seeing Canglang Jun standing by the riverbank.

“Hey, old man, if you don’t help us catch those two little brats, you’ll regret it!” the braided man threatened.

Upon hearing this, Canglang Jun’s eyes went wide with anger.

He only wanted to quietly fish, but now they’re dragging him into their mess.

“Watch your mouth, or else!”

Without hesitation, Canglang Jun slapped out a hand from hundreds of meters away, sending the braided man flying through the air with a scream and crashing to the ground, blood spraying everywhere.

“What power!” the boy gasped, shocked. The guy chasing him was at least an Immortal King-level fighter.

Yet he was just slapped away like that.

“Child, don’t be afraid; I’ll ensure your safety!” Canglang Jun appeared before the boy, gently patting his head and speaking kindly.

“Th-thank you, Senior!”

The boy was overwhelmed with emotion.

To him, this scholarly old man exuded an air of an otherworldly figure, making him naturally trustful.

“Lord Hong, are you okay?!” The group of …

underlings dared not approach and instead rushed to check on the braided man.

“Ouch,”

the braided man gasped, his half-ruined face a sight to behold, eyes filled with a mix of anger and dread as he looked at the old man again.

To get slapped away like that, he must be at least an Immortal Emperor-level!

“Old sir, I was rude just now; I accept your lesson…”

The braided man’s face darkened, his tone switching as he continued, “But this doesn’t concern you, so I advise you not to meddle.”

Canglang Jun raised his chin. “What if I want to meddle?”

The braided man sneered, “Then you’re going against my Tian Shui Han Family! Do you dare to offend an imperial family over these two lowly brats?”

“Imperial Family?!”

Canglang Jun blinked in surprise.

A family bold enough to call itself an imperial family likely had at least one living Immortal Emperor among them!

So, this Han Family had the backing of an Immortal Emperor!

“Oh no…” The boy’s face went pale. He didn’t believe this unfamiliar old man would risk offending an imperial family for him and his sister.

Besides, the name Tian Shui Han Family was well-known throughout the entire West Ze Immortal Domain.

Realizing this, the boy discarded his hopes and tried to leave with his sister. But just then, a large hand gripped his shoulder, immobilizing him.

“Old sir, you…”

The boy looked up in despair, thinking he was about to be taken as punishment.

But to his surprise, Canglang Jun merely scoffed and flicked his sleeve with an air of superiority, saying,

“Hmph, what’s an imperial family to me? Let me tell you, even the head of an imperial family had to call me ‘Grandpa’ when we met!!”

His words echoed strong and authoritative, as though making an undeniable statement.

Upon hearing this,

everyone’s eyes went wide, stunned into silence.

What?! Even the head of an imperial family had to call you ‘Grandpa’?

That’s quite a bold claim you’re making!

The boy lowered his head, his face burning with embarrassment, unable to help but feel ashamed for this old man.

This grandpa sure has thick skin…
