Nomi had a sleepy haze in her eyes, but her voice was cheerful.
“I’m huuungry…”
Nomi said with a drowsy voice.
Hyun smiled and looked at Nomi.
He thought he should prepare a breakfast that Nomi would like.
“Did you sleep well, Nomi?”
Hyun said affectionately as he approached and ruffled her hair.
“Yes!…”
Nomi beamed a bright smile and dashed to the dining table.
Her eyes sparkled when she saw the beautifully arranged strawberries on the table.
“Wow, they look delicious..!!”
Nomi exclaimed excitedly.
Nomi eagerly grabbed a strawberry and put it in her mouth.
Her expression revealed the satisfaction of the sweet strawberry’s taste.
Hyun smiled contentedly seeing Nomi so happy.
Just then, Sohee returned from the yard and entered the living room.
A relaxed morning smile still lingered on her lips.
“Huh? You’re up?”
Sohee greeted with a morning salutation as she approached the dining table.
Nomi turned to look at Sohee, responding with a smile.
“Good morning~!”
Sohee simply smiled slightly and settled into the chair next to Nomi.
She reached out and grabbed one of the strawberries from the table and popped it in her mouth.
Taking a bite, she smiled as if it was delicious.
“Mm~ it’s yummy!”
Sohee said with a satisfied expression.
But at that moment, Nomi wrinkled her nose.
Leaning slightly towards Sohee, Nomi looked at her with a curious gaze.
“You smell… weird…”
Sohee paused for a moment, seemingly taken aback by Nomi’s words, but soon understood her situation.
“Oh, it’s probably the smell of smoke?”
“Sorry, Nomi. I just stepped outside for a quick smoke…”
Nomi, hearing this, wrinkled her nose and playfully glared at Sohee.
“Ew, that weird smell…”
At Nomi’s playful comment, Sohee gave a wry smile and nodded.
“Okay, okay.”
“I’ll go brush my teeth.”
Sohee turned to head to the bathroom, while Nomi shifted her attention back to the strawberries on the table.
She picked a few more strawberries and popped them into her mouth, smiling happily at the taste.
While sitting at the table, Nomi looked around and spotted the TV remote in the living room.
She picked up the remote and turned on the TV.
As the screen lit up, a morning cartoon show unfolded, and Nomi got completely absorbed in the animation.
The characters’ voices and background music from the TV began filling the living room, and Nomi watched while munching on strawberries.
Her eyes were glued to the screen, and she occasionally reacted with laughter or surprise depending on the scenes.
As the freshness of the morning filled the living room, Hyun started to feel a slight chill.
He quietly got up and walked towards the sofa.
Reaching the sofa, Hyun stretched out and grabbed a neatly folded blanket from one corner.
He unfolded the blanket and wrapped himself in it.
The blanket was cozy and warm, and as soon as he got inside, Hyun felt relieved.
With the blanket around him, he leaned back against the sofa and closed his eyes.
The warmth of the blanket slowly warmed his body, and he succumbed to that sense of stability.
After a while, Hyun exhaled deeply, taking a moment of rest in the morning peace.
Meanwhile, Sohee returned to the dining table after brushing her teeth.
She sat down next to Nomi and playfully blew a puff of air onto Nomi’s small face.
“Phew- feeling better now?”
Sohee’s breath carried the refreshing mint scent of freshly brushed teeth.
Nomi scrunched her face playfully at the gust of air and then nodded with a bright smile.
“Yeah! I’m all good now!”
Nomi enjoyed strawberries with Sohee as they watched cartoons, and Hyun relaxed on the sofa, listening to their cheerful laughter, enjoying a peaceful morning.
As the plate of strawberries gradually emptied, Nomi and Sohee shared the last few strawberries while having a delightful morning time.
The freshness and sweetness of the strawberries filled their mouths, and satisfied expressions spread across their faces.
With each strawberry that disappeared, the joy of the morning grew.
Once the last strawberry was thoroughly finished, Sohee and Nomi looked at each other and smiled contentedly.
“This is really yummy!”
Nomi exclaimed with joy, and Sohee nodded in agreement.
Meanwhile, on the sofa, Hyun sat quietly.
He was leaning against the sofa, wrapped in the blanket.
His eyes were half-closed as he struggled to find comfort within the warmth of the blanket.
But gradually, his body began to complain of discomfort.
He felt a tickle in his throat, and from deep within his chest, he sensed a cough rising.
It started off as a light cough, but soon became more frequent and harsher.
Hyun covered his mouth with his hand as he coughed. With each cough, his body trembled slightly, and the discomfort couldn’t be hidden even under the blanket.
Each time the coughing fit subsided, Hyun tried to take a deep breath, but felt as if something was stuck in his throat.
Cold sweat formed on his forehead, and he began to feel his body heating up.
When he wiped his forehead with the back of his hand, he could definitely tell he was running a fever.
His cheeks were flushed, and his body temperature was definitely higher than usual.
As Hyun’s coughing worsened, Sohee approached him with a worried look.
She studied Hyun’s face closely, concerned about his state.
“What’s wrong? Are you okay?”
“Is it still tough from working out?”
Sohee asked.
Her voice contained sincere concern mixed with a hint of playfulness.
Hyun felt that tickle in his throat again and coughed once more.
“Uh cough!.. I think I might have a cold…”
He responded between coughing fits.
Feeling the heat of his body, he couldn’t deny he was clearly sick.
Sohee paused briefly after hearing Hyun’s response before suddenly leaning back.
“Ew, a cold? Don’t pass it on to me!”
She spoke half-jokingly, but her actions to distance herself were serious.
“Go lie down in your room.”
“You seem like you’re not well.”
Sohee advised Hyun.
Her tone mixed playful teasing with genuine concern.
Hyun felt warmth in his heart at Sohee’s sincere worry and advice.
He coughed as he spoke with difficulty.
“Thanks, Sohee… cough!”
His voice was filled with gratitude, but it was hard for him to continue speaking due to the cough.
He carefully tossed the blanket off and slowly got up from his place.
His body felt heavy, and each step seemed difficult, but he thought it best to follow Sohee’s advice and rest in his room.
Hyun left the living room and headed down the hallway to his room.
When he opened the door and laid down on the bed, he felt a great sense of relief and dozed off soon after.
Sohee watched Hyun go into his room, casting a worried glance.
Wishing for Hyun to recover quickly, she returned to the living room to spend time with Nomi.
Nomi was sitting in front of the TV, enjoying the cartoons.
Sohee took a seat next to Nomi and began watching TV together.
