Living Dangerously with a 999-Year-Old Gumiho – Chapter 14

As the clock pointed to 10 o’clock, Seojin carefully glanced at the atmosphere in the living room and spoke up.

“It’s getting pretty late… aren’t you all heading home?”

Yoonhwa replied to Seojin’s question with a playful smile.

“Weren’t you planning to sleep here tonight?”

Seojin was momentarily taken aback by Yoonhwa’s unexpected response, but soon burst into laughter.

“Really? Then let’s all just sleep here tonight!”

Kangtae and Hyun looked at Seojin with shocked expressions.

“Wait, really? We’re sleeping here?”

“Um, well, that’s…”

The two exchanged awkward smiles, not expecting to be spending the night at Seojin’s house.

Seeing her friends in such a flustered state, Seojin couldn’t help but laugh heartily.

“Don’t worry. We have plenty of space in our house~.”

“And on a day like today… it’s better to be together, right?”

At Seojin’s words, Kangtae and Hyun nodded at each other.

“That’s true, Seojin makes a good point. I think it’d be nice to stick together on a day like today.”

“Yeah, I agree. Let’s all spend the night here.”

Seojin was delighted by her friends’ acceptance.

“Great! Then I’ll prepare what we need, so you all just relax.”

Seojin headed to her room to fetch blankets and pillows.

Kangtae and Hyun exchanged looks, still amazed by how out of the blue this was.

Yoonhwa laughed at their expressions.

“This sudden plan isn’t so bad. Let’s enjoy this moment together.”

A moment later, Seojin returned to the living room with several blankets and pillows in hand.

She also had an extra pair of pajamas with her.

Approaching Yoonhwa with a slight smile, Seojin cheerfully asked,

“Yoonhwa, don’t you think that magician outfit you’re wearing is a bit uncomfortable for sleeping?”

“Here, I have a pair of pajamas I used to wear. Want to change into these?”

As Yoonhwa looked at the pajamas Seojin offered, her eyes landed on a unique but adorable set.

The pajamas had a soft pastel blue background with little white clouds painted on it.

It was designed as if a bright sky had been directly transferred onto the fabric.

Yoonhwa gently felt the softness of Seojin’s pajamas, marveling at human craftsmanship.

Grateful, Yoonhwa thanked Seojin before heading into the room.

“Thanks! I’ll change and be right back!!”

Yoonhwa accepted the pajamas and carefully walked to her room.

Inside, a subtle tension and curiosity swirled within her.

Wearing Seojin’s pajamas was a new and slightly strange experience.

Closing the door, she cautiously removed her magician outfit and picked up the pajamas.

She slid one arm into the sleeve, then the other.

The pajamas felt soft and cozy, but they were slightly snug on Yoonhwa, who was taller than Seojin.

As she pulled down the top, the pajamas wrapped snugly around her waist, with the sleeves riding slightly up her wrists.

However, it wasn’t uncomfortable. In fact, it was much more comfortable than her magician outfit.

When putting on the pants, Yoonhwa cautiously tucked her tail into the garment.

There weren’t any holes or special adjustments for her tail, but Yoonhwa used her magic to seamlessly integrate it with the pajamas.

Her tail gracefully flowed out of the outfit, forming a natural curve.

Standing in front of Seojin’s vanity mirror, Yoonhwa gazed at her reflection.

With her pastel blue pajamas and white tail, she looked like a character from a fairy tale.

She smiled at her own reflection for a moment. Although the pajamas were a bit short, it actually added a cute touch.

Gathering her courage, Yoonhwa exited her room, ready to reveal her new look to her friends.

The bright and warm pajamas matched Yoonhwa’s cheerful personality perfectly.

She cautiously opened the door and shyly looked at her friends.

Seojin, Kangtae, and Hyun eagerly awaited this transformation from Yoonhwa.

Seojin’s eyes widened in surprise upon seeing Yoonhwa, then she immediately grinned.

“Wow, Yoonhwa, you look even cuter than I expected…!! The pajamas are a bit short, but aren’t they uncomfortable?”

Yoonhwa’s face turned red as she shyly smiled at Seojin’s compliment.

“Ah, uh… they are a bit short but it’s fine.”

“Really comfortable. Thank you, Seojin!”

Kangtae stared at Yoonhwa, his eyes wide in disbelief, and suddenly cleared his throat as if he was feeling parched.

He momentarily didn’t know where to look before averting his gaze.

“Yoonhwa, uh, yeah… you really pull it off. Haha…”

Hyun’s eyes went wide seeing Yoonhwa, and his face soon flushed, stammering out.

“Uh, um, so cute…”

“Not, uh—I mean, you look cute! Ahaha…”

Yoonhwa burst into laughter at her friends’ reactions, easing her own tension.

She smiled at Seojin.

“Seojin! Thank you so much~!!”

Yoonhwa enjoyed the joyful moment with her friends until she suddenly realized she was feeling a bit hungry. She cautiously asked.

“Hey, everyone… I’m actually a bit hungry. Is there anything to eat here…??”

When Yoonhwa mentioned she was hungry, Seojin teasingly poked fun at her.

“What more are you going to eat? Yoonhwa, you really have a bottomless pit for a stomach!”

Yoonhwa’s face flushed as she playfully retorted toward Seojin.

“What?! I’m not a glutton!”

Seojin laughed and replied.

“Yoonhwa, watching you eat is something else!”

Yoonhwa shot Seojin a mock glare, though her eyes were filled with laughter.

“Seojin, as you know, I’m a nine-tailed fox.”

“Our nine-tailed fox needs a lot of energy, you know.”

“Does that make sense now?!”

Seojin raised her hands in surrender to Yoonhwa’s cute protest.

“Okay, okay. It was my bad for not understanding your dietary needs~”

“Eat as much as you want, nine-tailed fox!”

Yoonhwa, feeling more relaxed, chimed in again.

“So… is there any snacks or something…?”

Seojin paused to think for a moment before shaking her head.

“At the moment, there aren’t any snacks at home… I gave them all to you…”

Yoonhwa, undeterred, confidently suggested.

“Then should I go buy something?!”

Seojin smiled at Yoonhwa’s suggestion.

“It’s too late right now… the store must have closed…”

Just then, Hyun’s eyes sparkled as an idea hit him.

“Wait a moment! I think there are some ingredients in the fridge.”

“I can whip up something.”

Hyun headed to the kitchen, opening the fridge to check the remaining ingredients.

He soon discovered some eggs, green onions, and several seasonings, and smiled.

“With this, I can make steamed eggs!”

Yoonhwa’s eyes lit up with curiosity.

“Steamed eggs?? What is that~? What does it taste like?”

Kangtae chuckled looking at Yoonhwa.

“Steamed eggs are a simple dish.”

“They’re soft and delicious. You’ll like them, Yoonhwa.”

Hyun entered the kitchen, surveying the ingredients at a glance.

He pulled out some fresh eggs, green onions, soy sauce, sesame oil, and other basic seasonings.

Laying the ingredients out on the kitchen table, he began planning to make steamed eggs.

First, he cracked the eggs into a bowl.

Gently stirring them until the yolks and whites blended smoothly.

He added a pinch of salt and a bit of soy sauce to season, chopping the green onions finely for a fresh aroma.

Hyun poured the mixed egg mixture into a deep bowl, then filled a large pot with water, placing the bowl on top to create a steamer.

Once the water began to simmer gently, he closed the lid and waited for the steamed eggs to cook.

Meanwhile, in the living room, Yoonhwa’s stomach grumbled, but she watched Hyun cooking with curious eyes.

“Hyun really knows how to cook. I should learn from him later.”

A little while later, once the steamed eggs were finished, Hyun carefully removed them from the pot and brought them into the living room.

“Here you go, Yoonhwa. Fresh steamed eggs just for you.”

Yoonhwa perked up and jumped out of her seat.

The savory aroma of the steamed eggs tantalized her nose.

“Wow, they look really delicious! Can I eat it?”

Hyun nodded with a smile.

“Of course, dig in.”

Yoonhwa took her first spoonful.

The smooth texture of the eggs combined with the crispness of the green onions created a perfect harmony.

Yoonhwa’s eyes sparkled in amazement.

“This is truly heavenly…! Hyun, you’re amazing!”

Kangtae and Seojin smiled warmly as they watched Yoonhwa savor the dish.

Even though they were too full to eat themselves, seeing Yoonhwa’s joy was enough for them.

Yoonhwa just couldn’t stop eating the steamed eggs Hyun had made. She was lost in the new flavors that were so different from what she typically ate in the forest.

After polishing off the last spoonful, Yoonhwa sighed in satisfaction.

“Hyun, thank you so much. Because of you, I’m really happy tonight.”

After quickly finishing her meal, Kangtae began to clean up and curiously asked Yoonhwa.

“How was your first performance today?”

Yoonhwa responded to Kangtae’s curiosity by launching into her experience of the performance.

Her voice was filled with excitement and joy, and with each word she spoke, smiles spread across her friends’ faces.

“Today’s performance was truly magical.”

“The moment Hyun’s beautiful music began on stage, everything changed.”

“The audience’s cheers and applause blended with our performance, creating an unforgettable moment.”

Yoonhwa’s eyes sparkled as she recalled the previous emotions.

She gestured with her hands to describe the magical moments she played, captivating Seojin and Kangtae with her storytelling.

“When I saw the audience moving with the rhythm of our music, enjoying it in their own ways,”

“I couldn’t help but perform with even more passion. In that moment, everything was perfect. I must have looked amazing back then?!”

As Yoonhwa passionately recounted her performance, Hyun’s expression suddenly darkened.

Unease and worry clouded his eyes, and his lips trembled slightly.

“U-uh… wait, Yoonhwa…”

“I can’t remember where I put my cello…”

Hyun’s voice was steeped in worry and sadness.

His gaze darted around, confused, and his hand fiddled restlessly where his cello case should have been.

“I thought I packed everything up after the performance, but now I see my cello case is missing.”

“Where could I have left it…?”

Yoonhwa’s heart ached at the worried look on Hyun’s face.

She immediately rushed to his side, holding his hand and offering comforting words.

“Don’t worry, Hyun… let’s go look for your cello together.”

“Maybe it’s at the place we performed…?”

“If I’m with you, we’ll find it in no time.”

Yoonhwa’s words made Hyun feel grateful but also more anxious.

The cello was not just an instrument for him; it was a cherished possession filled with countless memories and emotions.

Kangtae and Seojin cast worried glances at Hyun’s situation.

“Hyun, if there’s anything we can do to help, just let us know.”

“Yeah, we can assist you in finding your cello.”

“Don’t be worried; with Yoonhwa, we’ll definitely locate it…!”

Yoonhwa expressed her gratitude and without a moment’s hesitation, left with Hyun still wearing Seojin’s pajamas.

Yoonhwa, wanting to comfort Hyun even a little, did something somewhat embarrassing.

Gently approaching him, she lifted Hyun as if carrying a princess.

Her arms wrapped around him, fitting naturally with Hyun’s legs snugly resting around her waist.

Seeing Hyun’s stunned expression, Yoonhwa shyly smiled.

“Hyun, don’t worry too much.”

“If you’re with me, we’ll find it in no time.”

“After all, I’m a nine-tailed fox?”

Hyun was flustered by Yoonhwa’s sudden action, his face turning red.

“Uh, uh… Yoonhwa, what are you doing? Put me down!”

But Yoonhwa ignored Hyun’s bashful protests and began sprinting towards the plaza.

Her speed was swift, and her strong arms held Hyun securely.

At first, Hyun was startled, but gradually, he began to relax in Yoonhwa’s warmth and steadiness.

Yoonhwa glanced down at Hyun’s face, finding his embarrassed expression rather endearing, and smiled contentedly.

“Hyun, you look pretty cute when you’re so shy~”

‘Ugh… Even I think this is embarrassing…’

Yoonhwa’s movements were smooth and graceful, yet inside, she felt a bit shy about the whole situation.

Feeling Hyun’s warmth, Yoonhwa unconsciously smiled.

Hyun asked while they ran.

“Yoonhwa… you can’t let others see us like this!”

Yoonhwa happily replied.

“It’s completely dark out, so no one will be around!”

“And if there is… I’ll—”

While Yoonhwa sprinted toward the plaza, still holding Hyun, she felt his body tremble.

The cold winter night wind whisked through the thin fabric of Hyun’s clothes.

Seeing Hyun shivering, Yoonhwa wrapped her tail around him to keep him warmer.

The tail was soft and cozy, providing instant warmth to Hyun.

Hyun was taken aback by Yoonhwa’s generous actions, but his heart warmed from her consideration.

Yet at the same time, a mix of guilt and embarrassment washed over him about Yoonhwa caring for him this way.

“Yoonhwa, what if you get cold too?”

‘Isn’t this a hassle for you because of me…?’

Yoonhwa smiled gently at Hyun’s worried voice as she replied.

“I don’t really feel the cold~ right now is just perfect for me.”

After a little while longer, Yoonhwa and Hyun quickly arrived at the plaza.

When Yoonhwa and Hyun dashed into the plaza with a tense atmosphere, they spotted Eunho sitting on a bench.

Eunho had Hyun’s cello beside him and, upon seeing Yoonhwa’s nine-tailed fox form, his eyes widened in surprise.

Eunho appeared flustered and hurriedly pulled a talisman from his pocket, pointing it at Yoonhwa.

“A nine-tailed fox..?!!”

In the dim night, Yoonhwa’s figure began to become clearer.

Eunho, slightly perplexed, spoke up.

“Wait, you’re the magician who gave me the apple back then..?”

The talisman continued to point at Yoonhwa.

“Eunho?”
