Living Dangerously with a 999-Year-Old Gumiho – Chapter 28

Seojin, Hyun, and Kangtae all praised the chocolate Yoonhwa had given them.

Seojin ate a crispy cookie, a smile spreading across her face.

“I think I’ll definitely stop by here next time I come to this town!”

Kangtae took out an apple, rinsed it, and took a bite.

“Wow, what’s this? It’s even sweeter than I expected.”

Hyun took a sip of a refreshing drink and let out a light sigh.

“This drink is really cool and nice. It’s just perfect for a day like today.”

They enjoyed their snacks while listening to each other’s stories and sharing laughs.

Yoonhwa’s face was filled with satisfaction and happiness, just like her friends.

“There have been a lot of things happening today, haven’t there?”

“I realized that a neck poke can produce an orb…”

“Eunho betrayed us!”

“Our plan succeeded all at once.”

“And I’ve made a soul contract for the first time in my life!”

As Yoonhwa spoke, her friends nodded, reminiscing about the day’s events.

While pouring drinks into cups, Seojin continued, “It really was a crazy day…”

“I think we were able to overcome everything because we were together.”

Kangtae added with a laugh, “Eunho doesn’t stand a chance against Yoonhwa~”

Yoonhwa felt her face grow warm at her friends’ words, feeling shy.

“Hey, that’s all thanks to you guys.”

“If I were alone, I wouldn’t have made it.”

Hyun smiled as he said, “In celebration of getting the Fox Orb back,”

“How about Yoonhwa’s magic show?!”

Yoonhwa’s expression shifted from surprise to a playful smile at Hyun’s suggestion.

“A magic show… that’s a good idea!”

“Are you all ready?”

Seojin said with an eager sparkle in her eyes, “Of course!”

Kangtae exclaimed excitedly, “We’re really going to see Yoonhwa’s magic? I can’t wait!”

Yoonhwa briefly flicked her fingers and looked around.

There was a light of focus in her gaze.

Then, Yoonhwa waved her hands and cast a small spell.

In an instant, a mini firework display lit up the room.

Little bursts of light exploded in the air, creating a fantastic scene.

The living room was brightened beautifully, illuminating the darkening evening.

The friends couldn’t keep their mouths shut, awestruck by the beautiful sight.

“Wow… that’s really amazing!!”

Seojin couldn’t hide her excitement about Yoonhwa’s magic show and asked Yoonhwa with a voice full of anticipation, “Is there, is there a spell to make me a tail?!”

Yoonhwa thought for a moment at Seojin’s request and replied with a mischievous smile.

“Well… I could make one with an illusion spell!”

“But… it will only last for a day.”

“What do you think?”

Seojin’s eyes sparkled with excitement, clearly looking forward to Yoonhwa’s amazing magic.

“Really?! Then please, Yoonhwa!”

“I can have a soft tail like that!”

Yoonhwa chuckled at Seojin’s excited reaction and focused.

Magic energy spread from her fingertips, gently waving in the air.

In an instant, behind Seojin, light began to glow, and a cute, adorable fox tail began to grow.

The tail had a soft red hue, and the tip was finished off in white.

Seojin discovered the swaying tail behind her and gasped with wide eyes.

“Whoa…!!”

Seojin couldn’t contain her excitement and ran a few laps around the room.

Her face radiated pure joy, like a child, and her happiness seemed to dance along with the swaying tail.

Yoonhwa watched Seojin with a sense of pride.

The realization that she could bring joy to her friends with magic made Yoonhwa even happier.

“You really look great, Seojin! It’s like you’ve become a Fox Demon!”

Kangtae gazed at Seojin’s tail in awe and couldn’t hide his surprise.

“Awesome…!”

Hyun was equally taken aback by Seojin’s transformation and couldn’t speak.

“Seojin should really become a demon!”

“It suits you too well…!”

As the tail swayed, his joy seemed to dance along with it.

Seojin sometimes touched the tail with her hand, marveling at its softness.

“Wow, is this really my tail?”

“It’s so soft~!”

“Thank you!”

Yoonhwa smiled at Seojin’s reaction, delighted.

“It looks so real, but remember, it’s an illusion spell!”

“It will disappear after a day.”

Kangtae carefully reached out to touch Seojin’s tail.

Seojin gasped, her face turning red.

“Ah! This… it’s more ticklish than I thought!!”

“Stop, stop!”

Seeing Seojin’s reaction kicked Yoonhwa’s playful side into gear.

Yoonhwa reached out with a mischievous smile toward Seojin’s newly created tail.

“Should I try touching it~?”

She gently stroked Seojin’s tail, then suddenly began to tickle it playfully.

Seojin, startled, gasped and tried to escape Yoonhwa.

“Uh, Yoonhwa! That’s so ticklish..!!”

Yoonhwa burst into laughter.

“Haha, you felt the same way when you touched my tail earlier!”

“It’s my turn to get back at you now!”

Yoonhwa continued to flick and softly stroke Seojin’s tail, teasing her.

Seojin couldn’t figure out what to do, laughing and letting out screams mixed with giggles.

“Haha, Yoonhwa, stop!”

Kangtae and Hyun watched the scene and burst into laughter.

They were genuinely enjoying Seojin and Yoonhwa’s playful antics, and Yoonhwa rejoiced at Seojin’s reactions.

Kangtae grinned and said, “Finally! Seojin has a weakness now!”

“Now it’s your turn!”

Kangtae filled with mischief, lightly gripped Seojin’s tail and gently tugged.

Seojin jumped in surprise, stepping back.

“Hey, Kangtae! Seriously…!”

Seojin darted around the room, trying to escape from Kangtae’s grip on her tail.

Her face was a mix of laughter and embarrassment.

“Hey, don’t grab it!”

Kangtae joyfully chased Seojin around the room.

His laughter echoed throughout the space.

“Come here!”

Yoonhwa watched the chase between Kangtae and Seojin, giggling.

Yoonhwa stopped her playful antics with Seojin’s tail and quietly sat next to Hyun.

Hyun and Yoonhwa exchanged amused glances as they watched their two friends play.

Hyun chuckled and said, “That was some amazing magic, Yoonhwa.”

Yoonhwa grinned with a sly smile.

“Hehe… Next time, I should cast a spell on you to give you a hard time!”

Hyun looked taken aback momentarily by Yoonhwa’s playful suggestion.

His eyes widened, and he was momentarily speechless, unsure if Yoonhwa was joking or serious.

“Hey… Yoonhwa, that’s a joke, right?”

“You can’t do that to me!”

Yoonhwa giggled, taking delight in Hyun’s response.

“Really~?”

“Could it be a joke?”

Hyun was caught off guard by Yoonhwa’s playfulness and burst out laughing.

“Ah, hey..!”

Kangtae and Seojin caught their breath and paused, quietly watching the scene unfold, laughing together.

Seojin playfully tapped Hyun’s shoulder.

“Don’t worry, Hyun. The tail…

“you’ll get used to it for sure?!”

Yoonhwa was giggling as she looked at her friends.

“Don’t worry, Hyun. It’s all just for fun-”

Her words made her friends burst into laughter.

Seojin, chuckling to herself, came up with a brilliant idea.

“Oh, wait! I need to get something!”

Seojin suddenly got up, startling Hyun with her urgency.

“Wait, Seojin! You’re going out like that?”

“With your tail and ears still on…!”

Seojin paused for a moment, looking down at her tail at Hyun’s words.

“Oops, I completely forgot…!”

Her face flooded with embarrassment, but soon turned into a playful grin.

“Haha, Yoonhwa! Could you hide them for a bit?”

Yoonhwa looked surprised by Seojin’s request.

“Ah, I can’t just get rid of that…”

“Once it’s cast, it can only disappear with time.”

Seojin paused, her expression showing she was in a bind.

“Well, what should I do…?”

Hyun, catching on to the situation, spoke up.

“Then I’ll go to the store instead.”

“What should I get?”

Seojin, flustered, took Hyun’s hand as they headed into the bathroom.

Inside, they quietly discussed.

Seojin leaned in and whispered, “Umm… could you get some liquor?”

Hyun responded, bewildered, “Liquor?! Are you feeding Yoonhwa again?”

“You saw what happened yesterday!”

“Yoonhwa can’t handle alcohol!”

Seojin, a bit flustered, tried to calm him down.

“Ah, that’s not it, Hyun. I couldn’t drink yesterday…”

“I just want to have a bit for myself.”

Hyun still had an uneasy look while gazing at Seojin.

“Hmm… so you’re the only one drinking?”

Seojin replied with a smile, “Of course! I’ll give you money, so please!”

As she handed a ten thousand won bill to Hyun, she casually added, “Oh, and since Yoonhwa might get hungry again at night,”

“Get some extra snacks, too.”

Then she pulled out another thirty thousand won from her pocket and handed it to Hyun.

Hyun stared at the money in disbelief.

“Wow, Seojin… this is so much?!”

“Is it okay to give me this much?”

Seojin replied playfully, “Yoonhwa might get hungry at night and eat us, you know~”

“Get a lot!”

Hyun responded with a grin, “Yeah, I’ll get lots of delicious stuff!”

When Seojin and Hyun came out of the bathroom, Yoonhwa and Kangtae’s attention immediately focused on them.

Yoonhwa looked at the two with a curious twinkle in her eye and asked, “What were you guys talking about?”

“Did you hold a secret strategy meeting or something?”

Seojin burst out laughing and replied, “Not at all, I just told Hyun what to get.”

Hyun waved at his friends as he said, “Just wait a minute! Seojin’s treating us to something delicious.”

Leaving the three behind, Hyun headed off to the store.

Yoonhwa watched Hyun disappear, her voice bubbling with excitement, “I’m still not full yet!”

Kangtae looked at Seojin, his eyes gleaming with curiosity. “Seojin, what’s Hyun going to get?!”

Seojin, with a knowing smile, shrugged her shoulders. “I don’t know~?”

As time passed and things became a bit dull, Seojin playfully threw a line at Kangtae.

“Hey, Kangtae! What’s it like being alone in a room with two girls~?”

Kangtae turned a bit red at Seojin’s teasing and chuckled.

“Well, Yoonhwa’s a demon, and Seojin has a tail,”

“but it’s not exciting at all…!”

Seojin laughed, saying, “Haha, I’m just joking!”

Hyun struggled up the stairs, his arms laden with heavy bags.

“Uh… did I buy too much…?”

“Gasp..!”

With every step, the bags collided gently, adding to their weight.

His wrists ached with two bottles of alcohol and a variety of snacks, chocolates, and treats packed in the bags.

Each step resulted in beads of sweat forming on his forehead, and his breath grew heavier.

But he kept moving, thinking about the snacks he’d bring back to his friends.

At last, Hyun arrived at the door. He took a moment to catch his breath, longing to be free from the heavy load.

As he opened the door and stepped in, his friends looked surprised at the sight.

“Wow… Hyun! You really bought a lot!”

As Hyun crossed the threshold, he heaved heavily.

“Phew… this is all thanks to Seojin…”

“Gasp..! Since it’s bought with Seojin’s money…”

“Make sure to thank Seojin!”

As Yoonhwa began unloading the bags one by one, her eyes sparkling at the assortment of treats inside.

Hyun plopped down, tired from his haul.

His friends marveled at the snacks and alcohol he had brought.

Seojin sat down next to Hyun, expressing her gratitude for his hard work.

“Thanks for your effort~”

Kangtae handed Hyun a bottle of drink as he said, “Here, have this. You must be tired too.”

Grateful, Hyun patted him on the back.

“Yeah, you’re the only one who looks out for me.”

Hearing this made Yoonhwa flinch.

Pausing with a candy in her mouth, Yoonhwa hurried to Hyun’s side.

“Um, um!! I’ll help, too!!”

Yoonhwa began organizing the snacks that Hyun set down, and even her small help was appreciated.

“Yoonhwa, you’re helping? Thank you!”

While organizing the items, Kangtae looked at Hyun in astonishment.

“Hyun, what were you thinking bringing alcohol?!”

“Did you forget what happened to Yoonhwa yesterday?”

Before Hyun could defend himself, Seojin quickly interrupted.

“Wait, that was my idea.”

“Don’t worry~ Yoonhwa’s excluded; we’ll just drink among ourselves!”

Kangtae and Hyun replied in shock to Seojin’s words.

“We’re drinking too?!”

Seojin replied with a playful smile, nodding her head.

“Of course! When we come to a place like this, it would be a shame without some drinks!”

Yoonhwa gazed at the green liquor bottle with innocent curiosity, asking, “Is this alcohol? What is alcohol?”

Her eyes sparkled with innocence and wonder.

“Was that drink Seojin gave me yesterday alcohol?”

“I felt really good drinking it.”

Seojin laughed in response to Yoonhwa’s question.

“Yeah, that’s alcohol. It makes you feel funny and dizzy when you drink it.”

“We say you get drunk.”

Yoonhwa looked at the liquor bottle, her eyes gleaming.

“That felt really nice back then!”

“Can I drink it too??!”

Her voice carried curiosity mixed with determination.

But her expression suddenly darkened, and the mood shifted dramatically.

Yoonhwa hesitated, as if recalling something, and spoke in a soft, apologetic tone.

“Ah— but back then…”

“Did I really… burn Hyun?”

Hyun’s eyes widened in surprise at Yoonhwa’s words.

“How did you know…?!”

Yoonhwa cautiously replied, “Eunho told me…”

“I don’t clearly remember that time…”

Kangtae and Seojin shared glances, clearly having never heard about Hyun’s burn before.

“Hyun, that burn is from when we were performing back then…”

Kangtae asked in bewilderment.

Hyun hesitated for a moment, then spoke candidly.

“Ah… in truth… that day, Yoonhwa got drunk and couldn’t control her magic…”

“She was trying to hide being a Nine-Tailed Fox from you and sent me to the bedroom, but I got burned because of her magic.”

“But I’m okay now.”

“I’ll apologize for lying.”

Yoonhwa looked surprised by Hyun’s honest confession, bowing her head in an apologetic manner.

“I’m really sorry for that day…”

“I have no memory of it at all…”

Seojin, with a serious expression, looked at Hyun and Yoonhwa.

“Hyun, Yoonhwa… I’m sorry about everything…”

“I was the one who suggested giving Yoonhwa alcohol that day.”

“I was irresponsible.”

She briefly lowered her head before looking back up at them.

“I feel like I’ve hurt you both… I’m sorry…!”

Kangtae matched the solemn tone.

“Sorry… I should’ve stopped Seojin.”

Hyun’s wide eyes shook his head at Seojin’s apology.

“No, Seojin. You did your best in that situation.”

“No one is to blame.”

Hyun smiled and asked Yoonhwa.

“Yoonhwa, didn’t you say before?”

“If you apologize again…”

“You’d get scolded.”

Yoonhwa nodded with a look of surprise.

“Um, yes… I mentioned that…”

Hyun smiled as he said to his friends, “Did you hear?”

“From now on, if we apologize, Yoonhwa will scold us.”

“From now on, we won’t apologize to each other!”

“After all, we have nothing to apologize for among us!”

Hyun’s statement lightened the atmosphere.

Kangtae and Seojin burst into laughter at Hyun’s words.

“Yoonhwa, don’t apologize either!”

“There’s no need for apologies among us!”

Yoonhwa felt a bit flustered but joined in the laughter, unable to control herself.

“If you apologize, you’ll get a slap!”
