Living Dangerously with a 999-Year-Old Gumiho – Chapter 67

Yoonhwa answered cautiously.

She could transform into a fox, but she was reluctant to show that form.

“But I feel comfortable like this right now.”

“Changing into a fox… is a bit much.”

Yoonhwa openly admitted that she didn’t like transforming into a fox.

She didn’t want Nomi to see her fox form.

Nomi, hearing Yoonhwa’s cautious answer, smiled slightly with a hint of disappointment and turned her attention back to the TV screen.

“That’s too bad. You’d look so cute as a fox…”

At her words, Yoonhwa smiled gently, and they both began to focus on the story of the fox on TV again.

The screen displayed a fox running through a forest.

The fox’s gaze looked clever and full of curiosity, and its orange fur shimmered in the forest sunlight.

As the fox carefully moved, its magnificent tail flicked lightly in the air.

Its ears constantly moved to detect sounds around, while its eyes were keenly observing the surroundings.

The fox’s orange fur sparkled in the sunlight, blending harmoniously with nature in the forest.

In that moment, the fox perked up its ears and froze.

A small mouse appeared on the screen, and the fox seemed to have spotted it.

The mouse, busy searching for food, was completely unaware of the lurking danger; the fox’s gaze was already locked on it.

The fox slowly crouched down and approached the mouse.

The fox’s steps were so quiet that they seemed to vanish amidst the other sounds of the forest.

The mouse continued its search for food, entirely oblivious to the surrounding danger.

And in a flash, the fox moved as quickly as spring lightning.

It leaped into the air, spinning its body and swooping down in a vertical dive.

The fox’s attack was so fast and precise that the mouse didn’t have a chance to react before it was captured right there.

The narration on the screen continued.

“The fox is an excellent hunter.”

“They use their ears to detect the movements of prey, and with astonishing speed and accuracy, they hunt in an instant.”

“This aerial attacking method allows foxes to effectively hunt wary and swift mice.”

Yoonhwa and Nomi watched in awe, mouths agape at the fox’s incredible hunting skills. Nomi could hardly hide her excitement as she exclaimed.

“Wow, Unnie! That’s amazing!”

“It caught that in one go!”

Yoonhwa empathized with Nomi’s excitement, her expression astonished.

The agile hunting scene of the fox playing out on the TV made even her gasp in admiration.

“I didn’t know foxes could move so fast and accurately!”

Yoonhwa’s voice was still filled with surprise.

She was deeply impressed by the vivid portrayal of a fox living as part of nature.

Nomi nodded at Yoonhwa’s words, becoming even more curious about the fox’s hunting techniques.

The ongoing documentary on the TV not only introduced the fox but also shed light on the lifestyles of other wildlife, awakening Yoonhwa and Nomi to the wonders of nature and the beauty of life.

Their conversation grew increasingly lively, and with all previous worries and tensions forgotten, they became immersed in the fascinating world of nature.

Knock knock knock

Knock knock knock

The sudden sound of knocking at the door pulled Yoonhwa and Nomi’s attention away from the TV screen, where the fox was showcasing its vibrant hunting techniques.

Startled, Yoonhwa quickly tucked her ears and tail away.

She shared a brief glance with Nomi before quietly standing up and walking towards the door.

As she carefully opened the door, a large truck was parked in front of the house, and a man wearing a hat pulled down low was staring at Yoonhwa.

The man’s expression seemed serious yet kind.

“Is this Hyun’s house?”

The man asked to confirm.

“I have two desk sets and a sofa for delivery.”

“Could you sign here, please?”

Yoonhwa found the situation of a delivery being made to be quite unfamiliar.

Feeling a little flustered, she explained that Hyun was sleeping inside the room.

“Oh, Hyun is just taking a rest right now.”

“Uh… we live together.”

The man nodded in understanding at Yoonhwa’s words.

“Oh, I see. Then could you sign for him?”

Yoonhwa tilted her head as if she didn’t quite understand.

“Sign… what’s that?”

The concept of a signature was entirely unfamiliar to her.

The man was a bit taken aback for a moment but then began to explain kindly.

“Oh, you just write your name here.”

“Oh, I see!”

Upon hearing the man’s explanation, Yoonhwa smiled brightly, realizing.

“So I just write my name here!”

Despite the kind man’s guidance, Yoonhwa was internally troubled.

She didn’t know how to write, making the very concept of a signature a strange one for her.

She tried to recall the various letters she had seen in the human world, but she had no idea how they combined or what they meant.

Thinking of the letters she had observed, Yoonhwa hesitated, placing her finger on the electronic pad.

She recalled seeing some letters like ‘가’ and ‘새’ and decided to give those a try.

Yoonhwa carefully drew ‘ㄱ’ and ‘ㅏ.’ The shapes looked quite crooked and irregular.

Next, she attempted to draw ‘새,’ but again, it didn’t come out perfectly. She was merely trying to mimic what she’d seen, not actually knowing how to write letters.

After finishing her makeshift signature, Yoonhwa looked at the man with a bashful smile.

“Is, is this okay?”

The man paused for a moment when he saw the ‘written’ letters, but soon his expression indicated understanding.

“Oh, yes. That’s fine. You’ve done it right.”

With the man’s warm response, Yoonhwa let out a sigh of relief and expressed her gratitude.

“Thank you…”

After checking Yoonhwa’s clumsy signature, two more men appeared from the back of the large truck.

They were carefully unloading a gray sofa from the truck.

The two men struggled to carry the heavy sofa toward the house.

As Yoonhwa saw them laboring under the weight of the sofa, she felt a surge of the desire to help.

“I’ll help you!!”

She boldly declared, stepping forward.

However, one of the men looked worried and said.

“Oh, it’s alright. You don’t need to carry it, ma’am…”

Ignoring the man’s words, Yoonhwa responded firmly.

“I’m strong too!”

She gently grasped one end of the sofa, and to the men’s surprise, she lifted it quite easily.

Nomi rushed over to assist upon seeing this, but her height couldn’t quite reach the level of the sofa.

“Me too! Me too!”

Nomi said enthusiastically, but her hands barely touched the underside of the sofa even as she reached for it.

She struggled to lift it but ultimately didn’t manage to provide any effective help.

The men stared in astonishment at Yoonhwa lifting the sofa, exchanging impressed glances.

“Wow, that’s amazing!”

“You’re very strong.”

“You seem to handle such things well.”

One of the men said in admiration.

The other man chuckled, patting Nomi’s head in response to her enthusiasm.

“How cute, it’s the thought that counts.”

“Where would you like these placed?”

When the men asked where to put the sofa and desks, Yoonhwa paused for a moment, thinking.

She quickly scanned the space inside the house with her eyes.

“Umm… I think the sofa should go in the center of the living room, facing the TV.”

“And the desks should be placed against that wall over there.”

“I’ll carry the sofa!”

“Please move the desk!”

Her voice was brimming with confidence.

The men were once again taken aback as they nodded and headed toward the desk, surprised by how easily Yoonhwa was lifting the sofa.

“Y-yes, understood…”

The men set to work moving the desk set into the house according to Yoonhwa’s request.

They looked at each other in amazement as Yoonhwa effortlessly moved the sofa to the center of the living room.

Yoonhwa placed the sofa so it faced the TV.

Meanwhile, the other men carefully set down the desks in the positions Yoonhwa had indicated.

Yoonhwa looked around the desk and wore a satisfied expression.

“Wow, thank you!”

Hearing Yoonhwa’s pleased expression and words of gratitude made the men smile at each other.

They couldn’t hide their astonishment at Yoonhwa’s strength, and they encouraged one another for successfully positioning the heavy sofa and desk inside the house.

“You’ve really worked hard!”

“The house feels much cozier now.”

Yoonhwa expressed her gratitude once again, thanking the men.

“No, it’s our job.”

“We’re thankful for your help.”

“Now we must go to our next delivery.”

“Feel free to contact us if you need anything.”

One of the men handed Yoonhwa a business card.

Yoonhwa accepted the card and bid farewell.

“Okay, goodbye!”

Nomi also chimed in her farewell to the delivery men.

“Take care!”

Her voice was bright and cheerful.

The delivery men exchanged final greetings with Yoonhwa and Nomi, walking back toward the door as they left the living room behind.

They opened the door quietly and went outside, departing just as Yoonhwa and Nomi embarked on a journey of creating new memories in their home with the new furniture.

As Yoonhwa and Nomi watched the backs of the departing delivery men, they closed the door.

As soon as they shut the door, Yoonhwa couldn’t contain herself and pulled out her tail and ears.

The new furniture in the room breathed new life into the living room and the entire space.

Yoonhwa sat comfortably on the new sofa and looked at Nomi.

When Nomi stood in front of her new desk, her face was filled with pure joy.

The desk was a bright yellow color, with cute little chicks lightly drawn on its surface.

Each chick struck different poses, making it appear as though they were at a joyful playground.

“Unnie, look! It’s so cute!”

Nomi pointed excitedly at each chick drawing on the desk with her fingertips.

She twirled around the desk, admiring the chick illustrations from every angle.

Nomi tried sitting on the new chair and peeked inside the desk drawer.

The drawer was spacious and deep enough to store stickers, colored pencils, diaries, and more.

She was already planning in her mind where to place her little treasures.

As Yoonhwa watched Nomi’s delighted reaction to her new desk, she walked over to her own.

Her desk was a soft pink with a color resembling a flamingo.

The surface of the desk was smooth, and subtle gold accents shimmered elegantly against the pink background.

Yoonhwa stood in front of the desk for a moment, captivated by its beauty.

She ran her fingers along the edges of the desk, a small smile appearing from the soft texture.

The desk came with a simple design pink chair, which she carefully sat on.

Yoonhwa’s tail gently spread behind her as she sat carefully on the chair.

Once seated, Yoonhwa felt the plush cushion envelop her comfortably.

It seemed the pink chair was designed to fit her shape just right, cradling her softly.

With a slight smile, she comfortably seated herself, looking over the desk.

Before her, the desk sparkled with glowing gold patterns, thrilling her heart.

The gold patterns harmonized beautifully with the pink background, making the desk even more unique and elegant.

Bang..!!

Yoonhwa and Nomi startled and turned their heads at the sudden sound of the door bursting open.

Hyun staggered out of the room.

His eyes were half-closed, and his hair was a mess.

Hyun’s face was filled with confusion and disorientation as he woke up.

He seemed extremely uncomfortable, turning towards the bathroom hurriedly.

His movements appeared rushed and anxious as he quickly took a few steps towards the bathroom door.

He left the newly placed sofa and desks in the living room nearly unnoticed, as if he were being chased by something.

Reaching the bathroom door, Hyun rapidly opened it and stepped inside.

And then, he slammed the door shut.

Bang!!

With the sound of the door closing, the house fell silent again, and Yoonhwa and Nomi exchanged bewildered looks.

They were both curious about why Hyun had rushed into the bathroom, but they thought it would be best to quietly wait, considering he might be a little disoriented.
