Make Our Family Great Again – Chapter 101

Academy Union Office.

A group of crocodile men and shark men was heading somewhere from there.

A man watching the Union Office noted this and also checked the scenery inside the office of the Union Vice Chairman.

Boss Luke Felini of the Felini Family was chatting amicably with his biological sister, Veronica.

“….”

After taking in the whole scene, the man quickly and quietly vanished.

Shortly after, the Felini Family’s underboss and two caporegimes held a meeting.

The meeting place was Sarina’s territory in North Woodron, located in the northern part of the eastern city.

“Sigh….”

“What’s up? Why do you look like you’re about to cry?”

As soon as the three gathered, Sarina let out a sigh, as if all strength drained from her body.

“Probably because of you, brother.”

“…Yeah.”

Carso responded as if it was obvious, even without looking.

Hearing the underboss’s answer, Sarina ultimately conceded.

“I really want to die.”

“Stop whining and let’s just drink.”

“What the!”

“Yikes!”

Giovanni acted as usual, but Sarina immediately retaliated.

“….”

Sarina launched an unprovoked assault while Giovanni tried to defend himself. The underboss said nothing, as this was just how things went whenever the three were together.

“Sarina, so what’s the matter?”

“You know the lady asked me to keep an eye on that woman, right?”

“That woman? If you’re talking about Lady Veronica, then you should be calling her ‘little lady.’”

“Shut up!”

While that was entirely true, the problem was that it was Giovanni who said it.

Sarina swung her fist toward Giovanni once more, and he barely dodged it.

“I already heard about that before. But why does it matter?”

Carso continued the conversation without changing expression. After all, Golem generally didn’t show many facial expressions.

Sarina shared the report from the organization that had been monitoring Veronica at the Academy with the two.

There were numerous wolves under Sarina who were responsible for watching over Veronica at the Academy.

Originally, Sarina was supposed to do the monitoring personally, but per Elena’s instructions, she was sidelined from such duties.

According to her, she couldn’t hide her intent to kill or something like that.

“….”

Once Sarina finished her story, Carso pondered what to say.

“If it seems like you and little lady are getting along, that’s a good thing.”

“Yeah, you punk. You’re lucky to be so carefree.”

“What?”

Giovanni questioned, seeming confused as he called for the bartender to bring him drinks.

The three were currently at Sarina’s base.

It looked like an ordinary bar, but in reality, it was Sarina’s stronghold, one of the caporegimes and wolves of the Felini Family.

“This is all because Luke is too nice of a person.”

“Still, these days, he’s lost a lot of his edge. Compared to when he was active under the Godfather, I’d say I’d prefer the current version of him.”

“By the way, Sarina, I think it’s about time you change how you address brother.”

“What?”

“You know that habit of calling him by his name. You should probably fix that soon.”

“…Why’s that?”

Sarina hadn’t yet heard the reason, but she gave the underboss a couple of light taps on the head.

“Well, it’s not an issue among us, but it doesn’t look good to do that in front of others. Now that brother is basically the same as the lady in status.”

“That much is true. Now brother is soon to be the Godfather.”

At their words, Sarina made a face as if she couldn’t believe it.

“There’s no way I’d say something like that in front of others.”

“Habits can be the scariest thing. Even if you don’t intend to, it might slip out naturally.”

“Don’t worry. I’d say the same thing in front of others, too.”

“…Really?”

At the very least, Giovanni had never heard Sarina refer to Luke Felini as Godfather.

Then again, it seemed they hadn’t met up together as a trio in a while.

“Oh, finally!”

Giovanni downed the drink the bartender poured.

“Carso, what’s the next plan for Luke?”

“After he visits Viola, I have no clue. He’s allowed to move freely, unlike the lady.”

“By the way, I heard brother and the lady are moving.”

“Yeah, they’re planning to move to the city’s central area. I heard that from Salmo.”

The new underboss and consigliere tended to share any important information straightforwardly.

Back when Luke Felini was the underboss, there was no need to determine who was superior between the underboss and consigliere. No matter what anyone said, Luke Felini was above Anthony Salmo.

However, it was a bit different when dealing with Carso.

There was little need to judge who had the upper hand between the underboss and consigliere.

“…I know too.”

“Your reaction is too bland.”

“Well, what should I do? The lady and the two others are all going to follow and live together anyway.”

Elena, Felicita, and Veronica.

Veronica was Luke’s sister, while the other two were his wives.

Sarina felt considerably resentful that she couldn’t be a part of either situation.

“That being said, if it’s in the center… it’ll be the lady’s territory, right?”

“That would be right. Other guys would find it easier to target than the Lupus Carlton Hotel.”

“It’s more difficult for us to secure that area since it’s in the city center. Well, I guess the two of you have considered that too.”

Giovanni shared his concerns about the two bosses moving to the city center, but it was only a brief moment.

Then Carso urged the other two to part ways.

While the three’s meeting wrapped up like that, a phone call came into the office of the Union Vice Chairman at the Academy.

“Brother.”

“Yeah?”

“It’s a call from Viola Carmen.”

Looks like the Viper side finally got back.

Given what Angela told me about the boss of the Vipers, judging by that guy’s temperament, I wasn’t expecting much.

But… a flicker of hope remained that the Vipers might have responded to my proposal.

“Hey, Viola. It’s me.”

“Godfather. My subordinates who headed to the Vipers have returned.”

“….”

At the very least, the news that they returned alive was a good sign.

As I started to confirm a few things with Viola, she interrupted.

“Except for one.”

“What?”

Her subordinates directed by Viola towards the Vipers apparently didn’t include the most senior member, who didn’t return alive.

“That was a pretty decent guy, so it’s a shame he didn’t come back.”

“…Did they send any messages?”

It was unfortunate that one of Viola’s subordinates died. I thought of compensating his family well, so I asked.

Meanwhile, Viola said the guys who returned did have something to say.

“They mentioned it’s the wolf’s turn after the bat.”

“…Got it.”

“Godfather, should I step in too, separately from our ally helping the Russo Family?”

I couldn’t tell if Viola was angry about her subordinate’s death or not. Rather, her voice and demeanor were too calm for that.

On the contrary, it seemed she was clear that the Vipers were indeed our enemies.

She likely intended to settle things when the battlefield wasn’t our territory but that of the Russo Family.

“Yeah, go ahead. Tell the underboss too and request the other caporegimes.”

“Yes, understood.”

Thud.

She hung up the receiver, but I didn’t move from in front of the phone.

“…Brother?”

“Veronica, Kambara. Send all the Gollymen at the Academy to Viola.”

“Yes?”

“Not completely send them away, but dispatch them.”

I added that just in case Kambara misunderstood my orders.

“Is something happening?”

“The Vipers rejected my proposal. They did so spectacularly.”

I informed the two in the office about what suggestion I’d made to the Vipers and how they responded.

“Looks like their judgment is clouded by vengeance.”

“Yeah.”

Despite Veronica’s words, I couldn’t feel any hostility toward the Vipers. Elena and I might have acted just as recklessly if we weren’t careful.

Meanwhile, Kambara left the office to pass on my orders to the Gollymen at the Academy.

“I’m feeling a bit disappointed.”

“What about?”

“Considering the situation with the Sanchez Family… it was a great chance for us to take action in some way. It’s just frustrating that now we need to focus on the northern matters instead.”

“….”

Veronica’s perspective on the situation was already at a caporegime level.

The Carmen Family, perhaps due to their spider-like growth, had considerable skills in gathering information and analyzing situations based on that information.

“Well, there’s nothing we can do. And with the Vipers, we don’t need to go all out.”

If we were pressuring the Sanchez Family, backing them with the Solomon Family would suffice.

We could make it look like the Solomon Family was upfront while we provided support from behind. This mirrored the situation with the Russo Family in the north as we supported them.

“Well, that’s a relief then.”

Just as I was about to head toward the sofa in the office, the phone rang again. I wondered who it might be.

Could it be Elena or Felicita, who I had spoken to earlier? Or maybe Viola had more to say?

“….”

I picked up the receiver to check whose voice it would be.

“Luke, it’s me.”

“Feli? What’s up?”

“Yeah, Luca called me.”

“….”

It seemed around six or so Gollymen had arrived in Luca’s territory.

According to Felicita, Luca had apparently asked her to convey his thanks to me.

“Alright, let him know I said thanks as well. And tell him not to brag about it to Zakaya.”

“Sure, I already told everyone. Even if Luca has a hot temper, he wouldn’t do something stupid like that.”

Felicita said her younger brother wouldn’t be that foolish.

Well, that was uncertain.

A few days after that day when the Vipers conveyed their answer to me, my two wives and I began our move to the city center.
