As I stepped into the living room on the second floor of the mansion, Elena and Felicita greeted me.
While answering my two wives’ questions, something caught my eye.
Not one, but two things.
The first was something Felicita was eating. I couldn’t see it up close, but it looked like a delicious lobster pot pie filled with red lobster meat.
“…Hello.”
The second was this little one who shyly approached me to say hi.
“Hey, little guy.”
Elena and Felicita hadn’t said anything about this kid yet, but I had a vague idea of who he was.
“Luke, he’s Solomon’s son.”
“Yeah, thought so.”
He looked quite adorable, chubby like his dad. The hamster people may be a bit larger, but they are short, which makes them likable. And no, I’m not saying that because I’m taller!
“What’s your name?”
“Dominic.”
His age… it was hard to tell just by looking. But from how clearly he answered, he didn’t seem too young.
Wait, how should I nickname this kid?
Little Little Dom? Li’l Dom?
While I was lost in silly thoughts, Dominic quickly moved and hid behind Elena’s leg.
“Now I see, there’s really a Little Dom here.”
Dominic’s name happens to contain ‘Dom.’ His dad, Little Dom Solomon, has the name Dominico Solomon, hence the nickname.
Even grandpa was ‘Dom’, Big Dom, right?
“Dominic, you don’t need to be so scared.”
“Really?”
Elena naturally spoke to Dominic, who looked frightened by me.
But while Dominic was distracted for a moment, I had already moved right next to him.
“So, why’s this kid here?”
“Luke, Solomon asked for it.”
“….”
It was Felicita who answered me.
Elena seemed miffed that I had taken the words right out of her mouth, but she didn’t want to show it in front of Dominic.
“Well, I’m fine with it. Did you just send this kid?”
“No.”
Elena stood up and whispered in my ear.
According to her, it seemed the entire Solomon family had sought refuge in my mansion.
So, Solomon’s gang had Little Dom’s mother, and his wife and child as well.
“Until things settle down over there, right?”
“Exactly. If anything’s uncomfortable….”
Elena, unusually, looked concerned for me. She had just said it was fine a moment ago.
Lately, it felt like Elena had been more attentive to me. In a way, it was proof that she cared, so it wasn’t a bad feeling at all.
“Dominic.”
“Yes?”
“Even though this house is unnecessarily large, it’s not bad, right?”
“…Yes!”
It was odd for me to ask such a question, but it was also unusual for Dominic to think for a moment and then give such a loud answer.
I hoped that Dominic and his family could relax while they stayed, but there didn’t seem to be much to worry about.
“Okay, then go see your mom now.”
At Elena’s suggestion, Dominic left the room quickly without answering.
…Or so it seemed. But Dominic turned around outside the living room to bow and greet us.
Looks like Solomon did a great job raising his kid.
“By the way, Felicita, what’s up with you?”
It was rare to see her eating alone before I even arrived.
“I just suddenly felt like eating.”
“Oh.”
As soon as I heard that, I kind of got the hint.
I knew about pregnant women suddenly craving certain foods.
“What about Elena? Don’t you have anything you feel like eating, like Felicita?”
“Well, sometimes I crave sour things, but it’s not intense.”
“Sour?”
Lemons, oranges, pickles. Those were the first things that came to mind.
“I’m glad it’s not too bad, though.”
“Well, since Elena got pregnant later than me, it makes sense she’d react slower.”
“Shut it.”
Felicita didn’t miss the chance to tease Elena.
But Elena brushed off Felicita’s remark like it was nothing.
“Oh, Felicita. Did you receive the gift from my sister?”
“What gift? Don’t tell me it’s another weird animal?”
“Technically, it was given to Veronica. And really, don’t call cute little things weird.”
“Cute? What about that creepy moth that sticks labels everywhere?”
Heb.
Just from listening to Elena’s explanation, I had a pretty good idea. That label from last time, I remembered tearing it off.
While I was dealing with the Sanchez Family, it seemed Heb had done something wrong to Felicita again and was being punished.
“Hahaha!”
“Luke, I’m serious here.”
“But don’t hate him so much.”
He was the first one to offer help when we got hurt.
He even liked checking our bodies for injuries.
“I might be worrying too much, but you never know with people.”
“True. Even if Veronica has that woman with her, and McBratney, it wouldn’t hurt to be cautious.”
The woman I mentioned wasn’t Rita Carmen but Paula Carmen.
Recently, she had been casually calling herself my sister and kinda intertwined the Felini and Carmen families, which was a bit much for me.
Of course, it was all basically jokes, but not very pleasant ones.
“Elena, has Little Dom said how long he plans to leave his family here?”
“When the Sanchez scum finishes cleaning up their area. Little Dom probably doesn’t know how long that’s going to take.”
*
Listening to Elena, I moved to sit next to Felicita.
“Luke, do you want to eat?”
“No, I’m fine, so eat up.”
Just watching Felicita enjoy that red lobster was good enough for me.
“What’s with you? Turning down food.”
“Yeah, right?”
Elena said with a look of curiosity. But seeing Felicita wanting that food felt like it was her baby craving it.
Not that it was actually true, it was just how I felt.
“Luke.”
“Yeah?”
“How was the meeting today?”
This time Elena sat next to me. First, I had come to sit by Felicita and now Elena came next to me.
And Elena had just asked a really good question.
“Actually, I was going to mention it. Did you hear about Manfredi catching Melata?”
“Yeah.”
Elena replied, and Felicita nodded.
“Manfredi handed over the Melata he caught and made a deal with Little Dom.”
“…So, ultimately, Melata went to Little Dom.”
“Yeah, but in return, Solomon Family got complete control of the area in the city center.”
That was my biggest achievement from this committee meeting.
“I doubt Manfredi would just hand over Melata without getting something in return.”
“He apparently promised Elena something. But it wasn’t mentioned what he’d get in exchange.”
“Ahem.”
It seemed Elena realized late that she hadn’t clarified that part properly. If she wasn’t careful, it might end up looking like she gave Manfredi a blank check.
“So, we agreed to give him an additional 10% of the drugs coming into our territory.”
“From our share?”
“Yeah, but just this once.”
“…Well, that’s not bad.”
Fortunately, Elena didn’t bring up any issues about the deal I presented to Manfredi.
“The entire Solomon Family area in the city center, then. I guess I’ll have to think about who to give that area to.”
“I can take my time deciding that. It’ll take a while for them to finish cleaning up.”
Though I said that, I knew even I would struggle to make that decision easily.
However, I didn’t necessarily have to give it to someone new… There’s always the option of giving it to an existing Caporegime. Of course, that would require some adjustments and swapping among Caporegimes.
“And I’ve figured out how the five families, excluding Russo, will move.”
This didn’t require lengthy explanations. I just needed to share what I heard with my two wives.
Carmen and Solomon would stabilize the newly acquired area and focus on reorganizing the organization.
Felini would stay in the areas of the two families to buy them time to finish reorganizing.
Finally, Marinelli planned to support the blacks while challenging Dragovich from another angle.
“Not a bad plan overall.”
“What surprises me is how Russo is still struggling against the Vipers.”
“….”
Elena and Felicita both chimed in.
I completely agreed with my two wives. The fact that the five families, excluding Russo, were distributing defined roles and showing proper movement was evident.
Yet, I never anticipated that Russo Family would be entirely left out in this situation while dealing with the Vipers.
“Luke, it’s not all bad news, though.”
I asked Elena if there were any new updates.
“Viola and Giovanni seem to have uncovered where the Vipers are hiding.”
“Viola maybe, but Giovanni?”
“Yeah, they started moving together.”
It’s not that I didn’t trust Giovanni; he was among my most reliable inner circle, along with Carso and Sarina.
“Isn’t Giovanni busy tomorrow?”
“That part is a bit concerning. How about this time, we let Carso handle it?”
I agreed with Elena on that. If Viola and Giovanni were tracking the Vipers, they’d likely produce some results.
But if Giovanni suddenly had to dip out for drugs during this, that wouldn’t be good.
The three of us continued our necessary discussions and conversations.
In the meantime, time flew by swiftly. After finishing dinner, it was already time for bed.
As I headed to the bedroom with sleepy eyes, my two wives naturally followed.
“What’s up? Why are you following me?”
“Oh come on, now that the shift is over, does it even matter?”
“….”
“I don’t mind.”
Elena and Felicita might not, but sharing the bed with my two wives was now something I was accustomed to.
