The NTR Hero Knelt Before the Demon King – Chapter 108

Darkness shrouded Jerusalem.

A cautious group of people, stealthily moving along its outskirts, began their final preparations for confirmation in front of their target.

“Is this the place?”

“Yes, there’s no doubt.”

“Alright, then everyone move out.”

The location they arrived at was a rather lavish annex.

There, they, fully concealed behind black masks, quietly snuck into the annex without making a sound.

Due to the nature of this annex, which could be read as a somewhat luxurious prison, quite a number of guards still roamed inside the building.

In fact, some among them could be considered high-ranking among the demon races, making a direct confrontation with them a reckless act.

Having narrowly escaped several close calls by hiding in the shadows, they finally reached the area where their ultimate goal awaited, pulling out the vial they had brought with them.

And then…

– Boom!!!!

“What… what was that?”

“It sounded like something exploded. Could it be the enemy?”

The sudden roar of an explosion echoed.

The individuals inside the annex panicked and started to rush toward the sound.

“Damn it! It’s coming from the warehouse! There was an explosion over there!”

“Is there something wrong with what was stored? Why would something explode in a perfectly fine warehouse…?”

“Is this really the time to be questioning that? We need to put out the fire quickly!”

An unexpected fire had broken out.

As a result, many of the guards stationed at the annex headed that way, and their actions were seen as a prime opportunity by those watching from the darkness.

“Alright, let’s move. We can’t leave any evidence, so we need to deal with this quickly.”

“Understood!”

“Got it.”

And so, the black assassins hurriedly moved under the command of the apparent leader.

Unlike the cautious movements they had used to avoid detection just moments before, they charged ahead without a hint of restraint, slashing down the demon races that stood in their path.

“Cough!”

“Ugh!”

“W-What the hell are these guys?”

“T-The enemy! The enemies have invaded the annex… Aaaah!”

Successfully reaching their target while slaughtering the remaining soldiers, the black assassins stood before a door that was protected by the demon races they had just taken down.

This door, fortified with special magic to ensure confinement, was nearly impervious to physical attacks.

Seeing this, the leader stepped forward.

And then…

– Bang!!!

With a loud crash, the door exploded.

In the next moment, the black assassins laid eyes on their target…

It was Octavia, the daughter of the Pope of the Elf Church, Julius.

“What… what are you guys?!”

With bewilderment, Octavia stood up in shock.

However, at that moment, contrary to what they had expected, two other women were present alongside her.

One was a dark elf, a race that elves detested greatly.

The other appeared to be quite young, sporting silvery-white hair, resembling a small demon girl.

Seeing the two of them, the bloodstained black assassins felt their previous assumptions about her being alone were mistaken but noted that they were in casual attire, seemingly unarmed.

They decided that these two were not worth their attention and focused on their urgent task.

“Finish it.”

“Yes.”

Following the leader’s orders, the black assassins aimed their weapons and began advancing toward Octavia.

Just then, the dark elf and the young demon girl stepped in to protect Octavia.

“What are you two doing?”

“Have those fools made friends? Don’t do anything stupid, step aside.”

However, despite their warnings, the two women remained steadfast in their positions.

Seeing this, the leader of the assassins gave a firm command.

“There’s no time to hesitate. Cut off the necks of all three of them!”

“Uh… yes! Understood!”

With the leader’s command, the assassins began to grip their weapons.

Yet, in the face of their preparation, the girls remained utterly still, silently watching the black assassins approach.

But then…

*Cough!!!*

“!!”

“W-What was that?”

In the next moment, a sudden scream came from behind them.

The assassins turned their gaze in confusion.

And what they saw was…

“*Cough… cough…*”

“What the hell… is that?”

“The… shadow?”

A comrade, his heart pierced by a black shadow, bled before their eyes.

In response to this unexpected scene, deep confusion clouded the faces of the assassins.

And as they stared, the silvery-haired demon girl spoke in a cold voice.

“My, my… what uninvited guests come calling at this late hour. Octavia, it seems you’re quite popular, huh?”

“What? Ah… that is…”

The young demon girl said with some playful sarcasm.

Even in this situation, she maintained her composure, causing the assassins to feel that something was going wrong.

And then…

“Well then, shall I leave just one or two alive for questioning and kill the rest?”

With those words, the shadows surrounding the demon girl began to undulate.

Simultaneously, the assassins noticed that the shadows beneath their feet began to stir. And…

“Cough!”

“What?!”

“W-What is this?! What the hell is going on…! Cough!!!”

Screaming in terror, the assassins began to be killed by their own shadows.

The once-menacing figures that had stood ferociously moments ago now lay upon the floor, stained with blood, the majority transformed into warm heaps of flesh.

But…

“Tch… this one is more troublesome than I expected.”

“Eh?”

The assassin leader spoke coldly while eyeing the demon girl.

After nonchalantly deflecting the demon’s shadow with his divine power, he straightened his grip on his sword and gazed at the demon girl.

“Your skills are decent, but tricks like that won’t work on me. How dare a little girl like you interfere with our business. It’s a shame, but I’ll have to kill you here.”

“Little girl…”

With that one comment, the demon girl’s face twisted slightly in anger.

Then she stepped forward, looking back at the dark elf behind her.

“Keep an eye on Octavia. I’ll take care of this guy myself.”

“Ah… understood.”

Releasing an overwhelming aura of killing intent, the demon girl advanced.

Then, she drew a dagger that had previously been hidden within her clothes, and the leader of the assassins…

Antonius, one of the strongest paladins of the Elf Church, began to frown slightly, sensing something unusual about his opponent.

‘She is undeniably strong… But still just a little girl. I don’t have time, I’ll finish this quickly!’

The assassins, driven by audacity, had invaded the capital of the demon race, Jerusalem.

Looking at them, it was clear they aimed for Octavia, and at this moment, Eliza began to piece together how things were unfolding.

‘Nine times out of ten, those guys are elves, the kind that absolutely detest mixing with our demon race…’

It seemed they were attempting to assassinate Octavia to shatter the treaty between the elf and demon races and gain an advantage.

However, within Eliza’s mind, one question began to surface.

‘But why go this far? No matter how much they dislike us, provoking us in a situation like this doesn’t seem like a smart choice at all, does it?’

The Elf Church had just managed to fend off the Empire’s offensive and was finally catching its breath.

In this situation, aligning with the Demon Kingdom, even if it might strain relations, would have been a rational judgment. Moreover, the Demon Kingdom had already completed analyzing the Black Flame, which posed a crisis to the Elf Church.

It was evident that if they provoked the demon races at this time, it would lead to even greater losses.

To proceed with such a plan based on mere pride was fraught with risks.

‘In the worst case, they must realize they could lose the World Tree to us… It’s almost as if someone wants this to happen on purpose…’

Having finished considering all that she could, Eliza concluded that if she could take down the individual in front of her, something might come to light.

‘If they can sever my shadows, they’re clearly above average. And with that level of divine power… this is definitely going to be a tough fight.’

Carefully gauging her opponent’s capabilities, Eliza reassessed her strength, positioning herself at a slight advantage with the consideration of their divine powers in mind.

Eliza began to gather her magic again, wrapping it around her as black shadows danced about her.

And then…

‘On the bright side, this may be a good opportunity. I’ve been wanting to test out my new technique… Let’s go all out and see what happens!’
