“Gah… Ah… Ahhh… Aah….”
The pain was horrendous, to the point that my mind felt like it was slipping away.
Caught in a shock so severe I couldn’t even scream properly, Torare sank to the ground, tears and snot streaming down his face.
“You bastard!!!! Wh-What in the world is this!!!!”
Torare began to unleash a furious torrent of curses as he shrieked.
And then,
observing Torare, the Lich—devoid of any flesh—started to chew on Torare’s precious thing, covered in the blood that oozed from the act.
With precision and thoroughness, the Lich crushed that part of Torare with a methodical force, as if biting down on a sausage.
Though appearance and race had changed, she was the one who once devoted her body and soul to him, the one who had craved love until the very end.
Eileen.
Just after such madness had ended,
Torare was overtaken by a dreadful feeling he had never experienced before.
Shock,
Fear,
And the extreme sense of loss for the thing he held most dear.
A series of these emotions began to stab at Torare’s heart along with the pain that felt like it could drive him insane. In that moment, he could only tremble in agony, letting silent tears fall.
Then…
“It’s over, now come out. It’s our turn next.”
“Woof! Woof!”
“!!!”
In the next moment, yet another familiar voice began to resonate in Torare’s ears.
He slowly lifted his head, still engulfed in deep shock.
Immediately after, a scene began to unfold before his eyes.
As he comprehended what it was, he started to wonder if he was really dreaming.
“Ah… N-No… There’s no way… No way this could be happening… How… How can you guys be here… No… This… This can’t be real!”
Torare, in a wail filled with despair and pain, began to scream.
Watching him,
Amelda, now a Dark Elf, and Terra, crawling on all fours like a dog, wore twisted grins on their faces.
“Oh my, you can’t lose your mind this early. The main story hasn’t even begun yet! With Eileen gone, it’s our turn now.”
“Grrr…”
With those words, Amelda drew a dagger from her pocket, and Terra bared her beastly sharp teeth.
Gone was the charming figure that once flirted with him; all that remained were two vengeful souls gleeful at the prospect of revenge.
“W-Wait… Just… Just wait a second… A-Although I started this, I already flew way past that point! Besides, you have no right to complain since you ultimately betrayed the Hero too!”
“…”
The two paused for a moment at Torare’s enraged words.
Then Amelda cautiously set her dagger down and calmly replied,
“That’s true… I can’t say we’re completely innocent either. In the end, we were tricked by someone like you, so we were just as foolish.”
“T-That’s right, right? See! In the end, you and I are in the same boat! From the Hero’s perspective, we’re all just the same betrayers!”
Desperately trying to worm his way out of the crisis, Torare started to spin his words as best he could.
Even though his appendages had been severed, with Restoration Magic, he would somehow recover in the future.
What mattered now was finding a way to stall until Shude returned to save him.
But…
“However… you know what? That means we absolutely can’t let you go.”
“!…W-What do you mean?”
“According to your logic, we’re merely betrayers from the Hero’s viewpoint. And as you can see, we’ve paid the price for it.”
“!!”
With those words, Amelda gently stroked her blackened skin, and Terra panted like a dog, showing her teeth.
While they weren’t in the same state as Lich Eileen, they also looked anything but normal, leaving Torare speechless for a moment.
And then,
facing Torare,
Amelda raised her golden dagger again and spoke in a chilling voice.
“Now then… it’s your turn to pay the price, isn’t it? We’re all idiots for doing what we did, so you too shall taste the suffering we endured with interest!”
“!! J-J-Just a moment… Wait… Ughhh!!!!”
With those words, Amelda thrust a knife into Torare’s shoulder,
while at the same time, Terra began to bite into his thigh.
Then the two commenced to chew and tear away at the portions they had pierced.
“Gah… Gah… N-Not… Nggghhhh!!!… N-No!…. P-Please… Please, no!!!”
Torare let out a gruesome wail, a mix of despair and pleas, as an entirely different kind of terrifying pain overtook him from what he had just experienced.
In a normal situation, it would have been reasonable to faint or even die from such pain.
But,
Torare, though just an ordinary man, did not faint or die; he remained wide awake.
No,
He had no choice but to stay conscious.
At that moment, his severed parts were being healed by Restoration Magic, which Amelda had as a former Paladin.
However, it was not out of kindness or lingering attachment that fueled her emotions.
The reason she was healing Torare was twofold.
One was to ensure that this trash would suffer until the very end, never allowed to die.
And the other was that due to the nature of Restoration Magic returning a loss back to its original state, if it was continuously used in an incomplete manner like this, later, when someone else tried to heal him, his injury could never heal properly.
It was like sealing over a cut tree with fire, preventing regeneration.
So,
carefully, Amelda and Terra continued to work meticulously, ensuring he wouldn’t die but also ensuring he could never fully heal.
Meanwhile,
amidst the endless, maddening agony,
Torare was still clinging desperately to hope, even while letting out agonized screams.
‘These dirty… betrayers! I’ve done so much for you… and now this… I’ll get you for this! Just wait… Just a little while, once Shude comes back…’
Though he was the one who had forced the betrayal and was the first to betray the two,
in this moment, he forgot all about his disgraceful actions and was filled solely with thoughts of revenge against these bastards inflicting pain on him.
This ordeal, which he thought would last an eternity.
However, in reality, only a few minutes had actually passed.
At last, his arm and leg fully severed.
“Gahhh!… Hah… Hah….”
Even as the echoes of crushing pain lingered, alongside the horrific feeling of having lost his limbs, Torare collapsed to the floor like a broken toy, letting out pained breaths.
“Well… It’s a little disappointing, but I guess this is enough for now?”
“Woof! Woof!”
“Now then, take care of yourself and let’s not meet again, dear Porter.”
With those words, like Lich Eileen who suddenly vanished, they left Shude behind and departed from the scene.
Watching this unfold,
even as Torare suffered immensely, he began to shout in fury towards the person who was nowhere to be found.
“Damn…! Shude! When the hell is that person coming back! I… I’m in this state! What the hell are you doing!”
“Curious?”
“!”
At that moment,
another familiar voice suddenly echoed.
However, the instant he registered that voice, Torare’s face was engulfed in terror that surpassed all he had felt until now.
“W-Wait… No… No way. It can’t… it can’t be. Others might be different, but that guy definitely…!”
His previous encounters with other Hero Parties were bizarre enough.
But this voice transcended even those realms in Torare’s mind.
Having suffered enough already, his body now worn and ragged,
if that person appeared before him,
it would undoubtedly lead Torare to a horror he could not manage.
But…
“Ah…”
Despite all of Torare’s thoughts,
his eyes began to see the figure of that person.
The one who had betrayed him.
The one who sought to take everything from him.
The Hero…
Ellen Savior.
“Hello?”
