This World is too Cruel to Men – Chapter 268

Chae-rim’s Perspective

What on earth should I even call this?

It felt both strange and mysterious.

Clearly, I was the one helping, so why did it feel like… this?

It was as if my entire body was whining.

The part that was directly connected to Dogun felt even more intense.

My fingertips tingled as if I had been electrocuted.

It was because I couldn’t bring myself to take my hands off that part of Dogun.

The tingling sensation that traveled up my arm was oddly addictive, forcing me to stay.

At the same time, it was a little bewildering.

‘Wasn’t it just my arm…?’

I thought it was only that until now.

But looking at what I felt right now, it seemed like it wasn’t exclusively that.

Or could it be that something changed in Dogun’s body in the meantime?

Maybe that was possible.

Perhaps it was, but one thing was certain: I couldn’t easily escape this situation.

The sensation that blossomed from caressing Dogun’s body was addictive.

It was the very reason I casually crossed the boundaries I had previously set.

As for the original plan?

I intended to use my hands to help the struggling Dogun.

The original plan was to do just that and nothing more…but before I knew it, I was kneeling in front of Dogun, licking his thing with my tongue.

And each time I did, that tingling sensation would bloom at the tip of my tongue.

The feeling of my tongue tingling, from the tip to the root, was so stimulating…

‘I want a bit more… just a little more…’

I wanted to touch Dogun.

Wouldn’t it feel even better than it does now?

So just a little more…

Maybe it was the alcohol or some unknown influence that had me mindlessly moving my tongue.

What was touching my tongue suddenly swelled up greatly and then a white substance shot out, splattering all over my face.

The strange thing was… despite that, I didn’t feel bad at all.

Rather than feeling bad, there was an odd urge to see the scene I just witnessed once more.

After wiping the splatter off my face with my fingers, I climbed on top of Dogun, gasping for air, whispering if I should do it once more as if to tempt him…

And just then, a loud explosion shook the building.

‘Ha…’

Thanks to that, irritation flared up momentarily, but what could I do?

It seemed like villains were raiding the hotel targeting Dogun, and as a new hero, I couldn’t just ignore the villains running wild, so I had to respond.

First, I pulled up Dogun’s pants that had slipped down by his knees and got off him to change into comfortable clothes instead of the ones I had tossed aside.

It appeared the audacious ones were brazenly trying to target Dogun and sneak into this hotel… so they deserved to be struck down.

If I didn’t deal with them, those brave enough to poke around might linger.

Of course, that didn’t mean I had any intention of leaving Dogun alone and rushing out thoughtlessly.

It might be trying to catch him off guard.

So instead of leaving Dogun behind…

“Um… I was thinking of checking out what’s going on. Want to come with me?”

It was better to take him along.

Since we weren’t quite clear on the situation yet, it could be dangerous, but I could simply protect him from the side.

And fortunately, it seemed that Dogun instinctively recognized that it would be safer to be with me than to stay here alone.

After a moment’s hesitation, Dogun finally nodded.

Thus, we momentarily left the hotel room together, but to cut to the chase, the villains had indeed launched an attack.

They did attack, but… the timing was just off.

It was because just as the attack began, Sprinter happened to be nearby.

And Sprinter, or Jain to be exact?

Despite any rumors about his usual behavior, when it came to suppressing terror, he was practically a specialist.

The biggest obstacle when dealing with terrorists is often that the villains take hostages, but Jain, who had been given the title “The Fastest” by the people, would not allow such a thing to happen.

Thanks to Sprinter’s efforts, the terrorists’ planned chaos was quelled before it could escalate, but that didn’t mean there were no casualties at all.

Among the villains who attacked, there was one with the ability to explode anything within reach, so the scene of the initial attack looked like it had been swept away by a storm.

As a result, it seemed quite a number of people who were nearby and got caught up in the debris were affected.

Thus, as I stood in the middle of the chaos, taking charge of the cleanup, I slowly walked towards Jain.

Of course, Dogun was with me.

It seemed Jain had already detected our presence.

As soon as we reached his side, he instantly spoke up.

“What, you came down? You didn’t have to come down…”

“So, what about the guys you caught?”

“I’ve already handed them all over to the Association.”

“What was their reason for the attack?”

“Well, we’ll have to find that out now.”

Did he have something more to say?

I noticed him clearing his throat and uncharacteristically darting his eyes around, so I nodded as if to say, “If you have something to say, just say it.”

Then, as if he had been waiting for that cue, he whispered in my ear…

“By the way, Chae-rim… I think you might need to get a new car?”

What in the world was that all about?

I couldn’t comprehend, so I tilted my head in confusion.

“Well… it seemed like the attackers were ready for a fight, so their resistance was pretty strong.”

“And?”

“Chae-rim, you already know this, but in the act of suppressing, the stronger the opponent’s resistance, the more damage it tends to cause to the surroundings, right?”

That was true.

Especially in cases like earlier, with the villain mentioned having the ability to explode what’s within reach; it could lead to more destruction.

So what on earth was the purpose of suddenly bringing this up?

Just then, a thought briefly passed through my mind, something I had heard earlier.

‘Could it be…’

And the nail in that coffin was—

“Uh…? Come to think of it, isn’t this where your car was parked earlier?”

Dogun’s voice echoed right next to me.

And now that he mentioned it, it seemed that way.

Until just a moment ago, the surroundings were in total disarray from the explosions, so I hadn’t noticed, but upon hearing Dogun’s words and taking a closer look, I realized with shock that it was indeed the same spot I had parked earlier.

The issue was… if that was true, then the sight of our ‘cutie’ should’ve been right in front of our eyes, yet it wasn’t there at all.

I blinked several times, hoping that maybe I had overlooked it, but to no avail.

Instead, what caught my eye was… a huge tire that didn’t match the ordinary cars, being dragged off by Association staff.

‘No… that can’t be…?’

It couldn’t be!

I had waited months to get that!

In a daze, I started to lose my grip on reality.

“Uh… if you’re planning to get a new car, just text me anytime. I can introduce you to a dealer I know well…”

That was the last thing Jain said before he literally vanished into thin air.

It was truly a getaway speed worthy of the title “The Fastest.”
