This World is too Cruel to Men – Chapter 466

To be honest, when I first heard those words, I was a bit surprised by their unexpectedness, but I didn’t think it was strange at all.

After all, everyone has different tastes, right?

It could be that Yoonseo might have such a taste after all.

Or maybe a scene from the drama review video I watched before falling asleep last night lingered in her mind, prompting her to express that.

Regardless of the reason, it was a request I couldn’t refuse, so after a moment of contemplation, I nodded.

Immediately, I could see the slightly tired expression on Yoonseo’s face brighten as if it were a different time altogether.

To think that this was the reward for just a bit of embarrassment.

At this point, it might be a pretty good deal, wouldn’t you say?

While I was lost in that thought and nodding away, Yoonseo, who had been entrusted with the choice of my outfit for the day, had already burrowed into my closet and was rummaging through it.

Well, to be honest, my closet was not even half the size of what it used to be, so there wasn’t much to rummage through anyway.

Nevertheless, with a lookout that seemed quite careful, Yoonseo finally pulled out two pieces of clothing.

A white shirt paired with jeans, a nearly classic combination.

“What’s this? For all that deliberation, it’s too basic, don’t you think?”

“So what? Are you dissatisfied?”

“Come on, how could I be? It’s a brilliant choice, after all.”

“Enough already, just take off the hospital gown.”

“Wait, you seriously plan to dress me yourself?”

“…?”

“I thought you were just going to choose my outfit or something, not actually help me get dressed.”

But who would have thought she’d actually plan on dressing me?

I couldn’t help but wonder if she was going to put the jeans on me too.

I chuckled wryly at the thought but was then caught off-guard when Yoonseo told me to throw off the hospital gown.

Due to how close we already were, Yoonseo’s scent intensified, and the slightly coarse feeling of the shirt collar gently brushed against the nape of my neck.

At the same time, a soft and fluffy sensation climbed up my lips.

“What’s the deal?”

“What do you mean?”

“Didn’t you just kiss me?”

“Hmm… I wonder?”

I was pretty sure that’s what happened.

With my focus momentarily distracted, and the sensation fading quickly, my certainty was replaced by doubt.

“Anyway, just give me your arm.”

As I was a bit dazed, I heard a voice laced with laughter drifting into my ear.

Even just a hint of laughter in Yoonseo’s voice had a strange power that made anyone listening chuckle too.

So, without realizing it, I snickered and obediently extended my arm, while Yoonseo, capturing my outstretched arm easily, began to struggle with the button at the sleeve.

She must’ve wanted to fit it all perfectly in one go, but the button was so small it just wouldn’t cooperate.

“Ugh…”

Seeing her eyebrows knitting together, I figured if I left her like this, I’d get to see her flustered face for the first time in ages, so I swiftly withdrew my arm from Yoonseo’s grasp.

“Ah, I was almost done!”

“Almost done, my foot… At this rate, we’ll be here all night.”

“C’mon… I really was almost done…”

As she pouted like that for a moment, Yoonseo moved from the sleeve down to the buttons on my chest and began to take her frustration out on them.

Maybe because the buttons at this point were nearly four times bigger, she seemed to navigate this one much better.

Still, despite that, it took quite a bit of time for Yoonseo to fasten the last button, probably because she was deliberately taking her sweet time.

I mean, what’s with all this fuss over buttons? Was she just wanting to relish this moment a bit longer?

If that was the case, she could’ve mentioned it at any point before!

But I couldn’t quite bring myself to ask; for some reason, my lips wouldn’t move.

Actually, there just wasn’t any time to ask about it.

And of course, as she quickly fastened the last of the about eight buttons, Yoonseo urged me to hurry on by, claiming she didn’t have time to waste.

“So where did you park the car?”

“Uh… 3rd floor, I think?”

“3rd floor? Which spot?”

“Maybe 35 or 33?”

Is it that obvious I’m a new driver?

If I had been driving regularly, I should’ve remembered where I parked without a hitch.

And thinking back, it felt almost miraculous that I hadn’t gotten into an accident on the way here.

“You drove it from home, right?”

“Uh?”

“I mean… to your house, Yoonseo.”

“Oh… right?”

But that she managed to drive all this way without incident was surprising.

The roads in Seoul aren’t exactly simple.

And given that she managed to park it without a mess… maybe she’s got a bit of driving talent after all.

I suddenly thought this but had no intention of handing Yoonseo the wheel today.

No one, including Yoonseo, knew how much moving around we would be doing, so why would I risk it?

Just because we hadn’t had any accidents until now didn’t mean we could guarantee safety from here on out.

So, rather than worry myself and put Yoonseo behind the wheel, it’s probably better if I simply took control from the start.

Of course, if we were basing it off driving experience, we were about even.

But still, when considering my past life, this arguably meant I had almost eight years of driving experience.

Especially since I’d been behind the wheel frequently while serving as Chae-rim or the Senior’s manager, so my time behind the wheel wouldn’t even compare to some who barely touched theirs after getting the license.

“Hey.”

As soon as I spotted the rental car, I held Yoonseo back as she headed straight for the driver’s seat.

“I’ll drive, you just sit next to me and give directions.”

You’d think she’d be reluctant to give up the steering wheel with her strange obsession with being feminine, but surprisingly, Yoonseo handed over the keys without a fuss.

‘Well…’

Sure, the car was quite large.

If I wasn’t careful, I’d probably scrape something without a doubt.

And since it was a rental, we might have easily found a more manageable car to drive but… why did we specifically rent this one?

Living with Chae-rim, whose tastes lean toward more ostentatious vehicles, could this have affected my choice?

I muttered to myself, somewhat puzzled, as I started the car while retrieving it from the corner of the parking lot.

As I carefully turned my head to look back, I began backing out while feeling quite impressed with how smoothly I was maneuvering.

Yoonseo’s gaze had not left my face.

Thanks to that, it felt awkwardly embarrassing, but I gritted my teeth and managed to get the car out.

And once I safely pulled out…

“Ugh… we need to get going, but you still haven’t fastened your seatbelt, what are you doing?”

I feigned a complaint about the seatbelt as I leaned over toward Yoonseo.

Who would’ve thought that while she was staring at my profile with such focus, the moment I broke that distance, she’d be left startled?

I heard a tiny gasp fill the car before the sound of the seatbelt clicking into place followed closely behind.

Before that sound could even fade, the car was suddenly filled with—

Peck…♡

The sound of a light kiss.

After Yoonseo had sneakily pecked me earlier while we were alone in the hospital room, I never would’ve imagined she’d repay me like this.

Watching her eyes go wide in surprise made me chuckle.

Her face turned crimson almost immediately.

As Yoonseo sat there, face flushed and eyes round, I couldn’t help but smile at her.

“You’ve been staring at me for a while… weren’t you asking for this?”
