A hurricane made up of tiny ice shards and even smaller grains of sand.
The result it produced was nothing short of destructive, even catastrophic.
Whoever said it…
Sometimes the simplest things can be the most terrifying.
Indeed, that statement held true.
At first glance, it was indeed a disaster itself, but when you break it down, it was merely an assembly of ice shards and sand grains, and yet it was incredibly powerful.
Was that why?
It felt just like watching a demonstration of a newly bought blender.
Not the old relic lingering in the kitchen, the one whose motor had long since worn out.
That’s why…
Dogun must have been overjoyed when he got a new blender.
Thinking of him like that made a little sting somewhere deep in my heart, but I held it back by taking a deep breath.
The sting was almost enough to bring a tear to my eye, but somehow, I managed to push through.
That being said, given the scale of things, just guiding the direction took a massive amount of effort, I suppose.
The bronze-colored surface that I had thought looked unlucky was now beaded with sweat.
Maybe that was why my breathing felt a tad heavier than before.
Well…
Even if it’s just guidance, controlling such a phenomenon must come with a price.
But, as I had mentioned several times before, the effort was indeed worth it.
Having successfully vaulted over the towering wall of fire, the calamity made of sand and ice began to devour everything beyond.
No matter how far we tried to distance ourselves or how desperately we attempted to flee, it was futile.
Once the whirlwind caught its stride, it consumed everything nearby without so much as a pause.
Among the debris were some pieces that were so lacking in hands that they couldn’t even think about relocating them.
And even such debris made its way into the vortex, compounding the already terrifying power, making it even more fearsome.
And perhaps, it tasted the result it was creating.
With sweat rolling down my face, I wiped it away cautiously and displayed a somewhat unlucky smile.
This time, ‘Shamsir’ began to conjure a different kind of whirlwind.
Since the first was a combination of ice and sand, it was clear the next had to be fire.
Grains of sand, swirling from somewhere, began to coalesce and formed a whirlpool, swiftly sucking in a flame.
Thus, what was finally completed was a fiery whirlwind, visually even more devastating than the icy one.
However, it didn’t hold as much destructive power as the first one…
Still, it was effective enough.
After all, as long as some care was given to the guidance at the beginning, the rest was basically like automatic hunting from a mobile game.
Watching the two whirlwinds moving back and forth, dealing with the Another Ones behind this enormous wall of fire reminded me of two dragons flying around, unleashing their fury on everything on the ground.
Perhaps it was due to the streamlined structure of the whirlwinds, but it felt that way.
It’s worth noting that they were just the beginning.
However, perhaps due to the wall of fire born from the cooperation of the two heroes, the need for defensive measures was temporarily lifted.
Having reached that point, perhaps it was deemed fine to significantly reduce their numbers, judging from the fact that those who had shown a slight reluctance to exert themselves before now began unleashing their talents unabashedly.
Among all the numerous attempts carried out, the most spectacular was undoubtedly a scene reminiscent of a black hole.
Suddenly, as though gravity had mysteriously disappeared, hundreds of Another Ones began floating in mid-air.
Then they began to cluster together.
Some of those floating creatures attempted to escape, relying on the wings attached to their backs, but it was all in vain.
The pulling force was far too strong, and despite their efforts to flap their wings vigorously, they could barely last before being drawn back.
And from where the Another Ones were gathering—
Creeeek…!
A sound erupted, like something extremely hard was warping.
It was as though an enormous hand had grasped the Another Ones and was crumpling them within its palm, sucking them into a singular point to be crushed and crumbled.
Thus, what was finally completed was a massive sphere made of the remnants of hundreds of Another Ones.
From the perspective of the Another Ones, it was a scene that would not seem out of place if called hell.
Perhaps it was due to such sights that I could finally begin to understand something Dogun had once said.
Back then, he had definitely stated that among the various forms of physical enhancement, telekinesis was one of the more commonly emerging talents, but if it was properly honed, there’s nothing quite as terrifying.
That statement held true.
As one of the finest telekinesis users of this generation, once he began to utilize his powers, what emerged was something that could hardly be classified alongside standard telekinesis talents.
As Shamsir led the charge, everyone else followed suit, resulting in a scene where the situation developed in a way that made me feel slightly anxious.
There was no way around it.
In my heart, I wanted to lend a hand in wiping out the Another Ones, but since the battlefield was so far away from the Forward Base, I couldn’t do anything.
Of course, I could launch an attack, but I wouldn’t be able to do it like those guys, and it seemed like it would just be wasting energy.
Still, I felt rather restless just standing around doing nothing, so I quietly waited for the right moment inside.
I had indeed sent troops in with the intention of inducing a war of attrition, but seeing them utterly trampled without even having a chance was not something I could simply stand by and watch.
For some reason, the girl standing in a position that evoked the word throne gestured once more, causing the beings surrounding her to begin to move one by one.
It was hard to believe that the newly fluttering wings were anything but instinctual, whether they belonged to higher or lower beings, as they showcased flying skills that were exceptionally natural for members of the same species.
Those beings rushed towards the attacks unleashed by the heroes among the expedition team—
“Huh…?”
Each began to unleash their unique talents.
It was as if they were saying that they didn’t need to wait until it was the girl’s turn; dealing with us was sufficient.
Though I temporarily adopted the flashlight embedded in my mobile phone as a light source, the inside of the building was still utterly dark.
If only there had been a window or something on the wall, it wouldn’t have been quite so bad…
It just happened to be that the most intact wall was deep within the innards of the building, which made it worse.
Consequently, I couldn’t help but let negative thoughts creep in.
Could I even manage to draw properly in such darkness?
Additionally, if the tools for drawing were an issue, that would compound the problem.
Whether Bora had purposefully picked the best option to draw on the cement wall or simply brought whatever was available, what emerged from the shopping bag was not something like markers or spray paint—but a set of brushes and paints one might see in an art class.
I knew Bora’s artistic skills well, but given that she usually used a tablet or pen, I couldn’t help but worry about her unfamiliarity with such tools.
Was this really okay?
Nonetheless, one point of relief amidst that was that she had brought water with her.
Perhaps I was quietly swallowing my worries, unable to voice them despite being in a position where I had to ask for help.
But then, to dispel my anxieties, Bora stood up, gripping her brush.
Her expression radiated an overwhelming confidence in her skills.
