[TS] Obsessed Gamer: The Ultimate Return – Chapter 252

“Uh… Okay. Just look at this for now. I’ll do something else until then.”

“Yes, please let me know when you’re done.”

I was momentarily stunned by the explosive chat filled with the sudden appearance of Seo Yeon-woo and awkwardly replied.

It was because Seo Yeon-woo had unexpectedly popped her face onto the camera screen without any prior notice.

– Big sister, little sister duo, whoa!

– Oh!

– Wow!

– OMG!

– Good!

– OLZ’s top jungle duo, whoa!

– Solo queue emergency!!!!!

– For real, they’ll probably crush everything!

Anticipation soared in the chat.

Come to think of it, I couldn’t remember if I had ever dueled with Seo Yeon-woo on stream, but it had definitely been a long time.

– Little sister is turning on the camera too, right?

– For real, turn it on…

– Let’s see the cam!

“…Sorry, but there’s only one camera.”

I actually did have an extra camera.

But why would I do that just to please them?

‘Besides… it’s a hassle.’

When would I install an extra camera, set it up, read the patch notes, take care of the cow, and play solo queue?

– Me

– Lock

– Me

– Lock

The group ‘Na-rak’ was on the scene, but to be honest, I wasn’t really interested.

They were the types who would show up several times a day anyway.

“Come on, let’s just keep looking at the patch notes.”

This was the part where important content started being revealed, but it was eating up too much time.

“Well… it looks like there are a lot of new items. There are tank items… Oh, and there’s an AD ultimate cooldown reduction item too.”

– That’s good!

– For real, an assassin item!

– Talon and Zed are gonna be majorly buffed!

– That is actually super OP, for real!

“Um, aside from the new items, the changes to existing items seem to just be balance adjustments. I’ll skim down a bit.”

Among the newly introduced items, the standout ones seemed to be Crown of the Queen, Circular Scythe, Evening Armor, and Frost’s Grasp—about four in total.

The rest looked more like the usual patch contents involving standard buffs and nerfs rather than significant changes.

At least that’s what it seemed like on a superficial glance.

Of course, once I got into the game, I’d naturally discover more about the other items, but for now, that’s what I noticed from quickly browsing the patch notes.

‘Changes in champion tiers due to items would need more observation.’

There had been countless precedents in the jungle regarding this.

One particularly good example was the emergence of the Chem Tank, one of the tank items.

With the introduction of the Chem Tank, champions like Hecarim and Udyr had seen their tiers rise dramatically.

In an unprecedented jungle meta, it marked the dawn of a new era for the tank champions.

However, the end was not so bright.

The once OP champion Hecarim had been nerfed many times, and eventually, the Chem Tank was also nerfed, leading him to fade from history.

Many people likely expected that the same fate awaited Crown of the Queen and Viktor, so Viktor’s destiny didn’t seem too promising either.

‘What’s important is how that will play out in the competitive version…’

Well, predicting that was impossible.

– Good

– Right to runes, let’s go!

– Honestly, looking at all the items takes too long, for real.

– Seriously, we need to duo quickly.

Thanks to the audience’s support, I quickly scrolled through the patch note window.

Going through each item change one by one was consuming too much time in my opinion.

“Alright, here comes the highly anticipated rune changes.”

The first one to catch my eye was the addition of the “Sudden Attack” rune, which could be considered the star of this patch.

Just like how the Thief’s Credit disappeared ages ago, this update saw the removal of the universal shard offering a spot for the new “Sudden Attack” rune.

“If you deal damage to an enemy champion with an auto-attack or skill within 0.25 seconds after combat starts, you earn gold and deal extra damage. Wow, that’s super broken.”

– Facts!

– If K’Sante takes that, the extra damage will give him more transformation gauge, lol.

– Yeah, Sudden Attack K’Sante is hot right now, haha.

– But K’Sante himself kinda stinks though.

– Ah… Ahhh…!

“It feels like this could be the main star of this patch in many ways… Am I the only one who thinks so?”

– Agreed, definitely!

– Because of Sudden Attack, poke champs and assassin champs will also rise in tier, lol.

– If Viktor has Sudden Attack and Crown, he’ll be a legit gangster!

– For sure, thanks to Crown and Sudden Attack, Viktor’s tier is seriously skyrocketing!

The glorious return of Thief’s Credit.

Moreover, since the requirements for Thief’s Credit were relatively strict, the types of champions that would use it were limited; but Sudden Attack was different.

Of course, champions with long range or first strike advantage would benefit, but nonetheless, its requirements were far easier than those of Thief’s Credit.

“Next rune is… Frostbite Enhancement. This is also a pretty attractive rune.”

Though Frostbite Enhancement itself is rarely used among jungle champions, it remains a compelling rune.

It’s not like it had extreme power or anything, but still.

“Originally, Frostbite Enhancement had very limited use, but now I’d say it’s been revamped for a broader usability.”

Initially, Frostbite Enhancement offered an additional freezing effect with the slowing effect from basic attacks, along with item effects.

But because of the overly restrictive conditions, it’s been significantly revamped for broader applicability this time.

Isn’t it sort of like the aftermath rune of slows?

Though the usability has indeed widened, it’s relative, and champions like Senna and Sion who used to rely on Frostbite Enhancement might find themselves affected negatively.

‘Well, it seems like even Senna might do fine with the Sudden Attack rune…’

After all, everyone tends to go off seeking new honey.

– Frostbite is actually insane!

– Yeah, if Leona uses it, it’s a total CC hell; they can’t escape at all!

– Agreed!

– So sweet! Haha, supports and tanks will totally munch on this!

“Next is… Swift Accuracy.”

This is one of the top three runes that changed this season.

Actually, until now, Lethal Tempo felt almost like a marksman-exclusive rune.

It was because melee champions had a literally fatal flaw in using it.

1.5 seconds before activation.

For ranged champions, this wasn’t really a big deal.

They could just hit from a distance and then trade after 1.5 seconds.

But for melee champions, after 1.5 seconds, the trading would almost be over.

Though the original Lethal Tempo was quite usable, it had limitations in terms of versatility.

Now, they’re changing that with this new update.

If Blade Whirl pushes basic attacks into massive burst damage, Swift Accuracy now focuses on sustained damage based on basic attacks.

‘Plus, there’s a range increase as well.’

In many ways, it’s a significant improvement.

“Um, but wouldn’t this make Conqueror a bit awkward?”

– Yeah, for real.

– Swift Accuracy Like Yune is insane!

– Because of Swift Accuracy Yune is totally on the rise, haha.

– Jax is also opting for Swift Accuracy over Conqueror now, yeah, it seems like basic attack champions will now prefer Swift Accuracy over Conqueror.

Well, since Conqueror has been such a staple rune, it wouldn’t be a bad idea for it to take a step back.

Even now, non-basic attack champions would still likely prefer Conqueror over Lethal Tempo anyway.

“Changes to champion buffs and nerfs… I guess they might still be in the process of being adjusted, so I’ll check them all at once later. Is that okay with you all?”

Once the patch gets applied to the competitive server, the champion tier I see now might not mean anything anymore.

So, for now, I thought it’d be best to focus on the major turning points and manage the champion tier afterwards.

– Yesssssss

– Extreme!

– Let’s duo, let’s go!

– Lock!

– Bring little sister! Bring little sister! Bring little sister! Bring little sister! Bring little sister! Bring little sister! Bring little sister!

– Extreme!

– Honor! Honor! Honor! Honor! Honor! Honor! Honor! Honor! Honor! Honor! Honor! Honor! Honor! Honor! Honor! Honor! Honor! Honor!

– Lock!

– Hey guys…

– I really think these guys are crazy.

Sigh…

Once, they told me they wanted me dead, and now they’re all about finding Seo Yeon-woo.

“I’m done. Ready to go?”

“Ah, yes.”

Seo Yeon-woo was nodding her head while looking up the Legends of League patch notes.

Seeing is believing.

No, more like playing is better than just reading patch notes in rank.

“Ready to invite you right away.”

“Ah, okay!”

Moments later, Seo Yeon-woo joined the lobby.

– Wow!

– OLZ top jungle duo, whoa!

– Rank 1, 44 Duo, whoa!

– Man, that’s insane, haha!

– Just lock it!

Because of the duo with Seo Yeon-woo, the chat was going haywire.

I tried to ignore the chat as I said.

“Let’s just roll right away.”

“Okay.”

“Oh, and voice chat.”

“Yeah, yeah.”

Since I always kept the voice chat program on as a habit, I stepped straight into the team voice chat room.

“Hey, can you hear me?”

[“Yes. What about me?”]

“You’re coming in clear too.”

– Wow…

– What’s going on?

– Is it just me getting excited?

Shut up, you guys.

[“Can I play Viktor this time?”]

“Sure, do whatever you want.”

Anyway, since Viktor is a frequent pick in the meta and is likely to be a meta champion, I had no intention of stopping her.

‘Honestly, I have no intention of stopping her no matter what.’

New meta champions sometimes arise from bizarre picks.

Above all, it was a solo queue, so…

And then,

Finally, the game was matched.
