Finally, the day of the match against BLH was approaching.
For us, it was the last schedule of the regular season, and potentially our final game in Challengers Korea.
Regardless of today’s win or loss, we were set to become the champions of Challengers Korea.
It was a meaningful day in many ways.
As I was busily getting ready to leave the house…
“…Mom, have you seen my pants?”
“Huh? Pants? They’re right there, aren’t they?”
“…I don’t see them.”
Our team uniform was a black hoodie and black sweatpants.
But of all days, my pants were missing today.
“Oh dear, don’t you have any other clothes?”
“I used to have multiple pairs of the same outfit… where could they all be?”
“How about something similar?”
“…I don’t have any.”
A disaster struck right before such an important day!
At least I was glad my top was intact… but…
“What are you going to do? Shouldn’t we be leaving soon?”
“Y-Yeah?”
Just as she said, it was time to head to the dorm and get ready.
‘What should I do?’
In a panic as my mind went blank, I rushed to my younger sibling’s room.
“Y-Youri, do you have any black long pants? I need to go out right now.”
My sleeping younger sibling stirred and replied casually.
“…I don’t. Just wear whatever’s there.”
I looked through the clothes in her room, but they were all frilly or girly outfits.
‘…Great.’
Unfortunately, I had to pick out the least bad-looking pants among them and left the house.
But these pants… they seemed a bit short.
“Are you going?”
“Yup, I am!”
“Have a good time!”
I hadn’t noticed while putting them on, but when I moved, the pants were hidden under the rather baggy hoodie, so they couldn’t be seen.
Somehow, I ended up with a missing-bottom fashion look.
‘What is this…’
At one point, the white shirt I was wearing underneath the hoodie poked out, flapping around like a skirt.
‘…This is not good.’
When I arrived at the dorm, my teammates’ eyes widened at the sight of me.
“You…”
I interrupted Baek Seong-an.
“Forget that, do you have any spare pants?”
“Uh, I washed them. But it’s probably not going to fit anyway?”
“…Fair point.”
Reluctantly, I sought out Seo Yeon-woo, who would likely have a similar size.
“Ah… all my clothes are washed. It might take a while to dry… Aren’t we supposed to leave soon?”
“…Is that so?”
At that moment, Kim Jae-min, who was watching, spoke up.
“Why not wear mine?”
“Shut up.”
I didn’t even want to wear his. His size wouldn’t fit me anyway.
“I think we should be heading out soon. What about your pants?”
I reluctantly shifted my gaze to Kim Jae-min.
“Just give me yours.”
“Actually, it’s in the wash.”
“…You jerk.”
I contemplated smacking Kim Jae-min on the back but shook my head instead.
“…Let’s go. It is what it is.”
I hadn’t even considered Kim Ji-hoon’s pants since his size was on a whole different level. If I wore those, they would surely just fall off.
So it happened that I ended up heading to the stadium in my unexpected missing-bottom look.
“Wow… are you really going like that?”
“…I have pants on underneath.”
“True. Hmhm. But don’t be pulling up your hoodie in front of random guys like that. It startled me.”
“…Uh, sorry.”
“No need to apologize. It was a good show.”
“I’m suing you.”
“…Genuinely sorry. Miss.”
For a moment, it felt like the atmosphere was serious, but as I exchanged pointless banter with Kim Jae-min, I soon found ourselves at the stadium.
And…
Was it just my imagination?
Or was it really happening?
I felt like the gaze of the crowd had multiplied tenfold today.
“Ugh…”
I could feel the eyes on me.
Of course, I had felt gazes before, but today the intensity could be confidently said to be several times stronger.
“Hey, hey, over there.”
“Wow….”
“It’s Outlaw!”
As I got out of the car, I found myself bolting into the stadium as if running away.
My face was burning under the hoodie.
“Let’s go together!”
“…You guys figure it out and follow me.”
I finally managed to reach the waiting room and sighed in relief.
“Phew…”
“Why did you ditch your pants all of a sudden?”
“…I don’t even know.”
If I knew that, would I be in this situation?
Normally, this would have been the time for the ban/pick meeting to proceed, but instead, it was dragging on.
“So if we can fetch Kuroki from here… are you listening?”
“Uh, yeah.”
“Ugh, let’s keep focused.”
“Sorry.”
Time passed like flowing water.
“OLZ players, prepare!”
“Ah, yes!”
As I desperately covered my lower half, I finally entered the stadium, where cheers that seemed several times louder than usual rang out.
-Waaaah!!!
-OLZ! OLZ! OLZ!
-Honor fighting!
-Outlaw looks great!
Then, out of nowhere, a staff member from Challengers Korea approached me.
“Ah, Outlaw player.”
“Yes?”
“You’re receiving a verbal warning for violating the dress code. Please make sure to wear team attire properly next time.”
“…Huh?”
“This is a warning for violating the dress code. Please unify your team attire next time. This time it’s just a verbal warning.”
…What? There was such a rule?
Since I wasn’t one to scrutinize the regulations too closely, I hadn’t realized.
“…Ah, yes. Sorry.”
“Then please prepare for the match right away.”
Something about today just felt like nothing was going my way.
*
The last game of Legends of League: Challengers Korea regular season was about to begin, and the commentators were gearing up.
“Doesn’t it feel like the cheers are even hotter today?!”
“It can’t be helped! What day is it today? It’s the day the regular season of Challengers Korea Round 2 comes to an end!”
“And it’s also the day when the championship team of Challengers Korea will be determined! Although, to be precise, it’s already been decided.”
“Haha! That’s right. But OLZ and BLH won’t be taking this match lightly at all. It’s a great opportunity to test themselves before the promotion matches!”
“That’s right. OLZ has secured a spot in the promotion match, and BLH is in a solid position as the second-place team, so they’ll want to take this opportunity to prepare!”
“And today, OLZ received a verbal warning… umm, it seems it’s a dress code issue?”
“Ah, it appears there was an issue with OLZ’s apparel unification. It’s understandable since it’s the last day, and everyone is a bit on edge!”
“Exactly!”
“Ah, is the ban/pick ready? Let’s get started right away!”
With everyone’s anticipation rising, the bans and picks officially began.
*
The bans and picks had begun.
Our side was blue.
That is, we had the first pick.
[“What should we ban?”]
[“I think it’s better to start with Karuma, don’t you think? Rumor has it that Karuma’s tier adjustments are all finished now.”]
“Hmm, let’s do that.”
Baek Seong-an’s suggestion was valid.
Currently, Karuma was considered a top-tier pick in the bot lane, including both the ADC and Support roles, so if we weren’t going to pick him, it was better to ban him.
[Karuma]
The opponent’s subsequent ban was Caitlyn.
[Caitlyn]
[“Wow, as expected, targeting the ADC. I’ll take away a ban card for that. Can I get a nod?”]
“Shut it, what should we ban next?”
[“This direct bottom lane ban is quite blatant, so let’s ban Aphelios.”]
“Okay.”
[“Yes.”]
[Aphelios]
Now it was the opponent’s turn to ban again.
[Kuroki]
[“Hmmm…”]
“I think they probably grabbed both Renekton and Twisted Fate, so let’s cut one of them.”
[“Then let’s ban Twisted Fate.”]
“Okay.”
[“Yes.”]
[Twisted Fate]
Finally, the opponent’s third ban was settled.
[Akali]
Even though Baek Seong-an didn’t often use Akali, it seemed he was considering her high tier and that Seo Yeon-woo could use her.
And then…
The bans and picks were officially complete.
+
[OLZ / BLH]
Top: Yune / Renekton
Jungle: Diana / Nidalee
Mid: Galion / Viktor
ADC: Ezreal / Jhin
Support: Yuumi / Leona

Overall, it was fair to say that we had a composition that would struggle early on.
From top, jungle, mid, and even bot lane, there wasn’t a single match-up that we could say overwhelmingly dominated their lanes.
“We really have to be careful on the top side.”
[“Yeah, got it.”]
Renekton and Nidalee.
This combination exhibited very strong advantages in both ganking and diving.
That meant our top player’s role in this game was crucial.
Especially since we had picked Yune from the start.
“…My thighs feel empty.”
While I was having those thoughts…
-Welcome to Summoner’s Rift!
The game officially began.
