[TS] Obsessed Gamer: The Ultimate Return – Chapter 362

[Accept / Decline]

Solo Queue has been locked.

This wasn’t my main account, but a smurf account I recently started leveling up.

Honestly, I was getting a bit bored of seeing the same people on my main account every day, and with the increasing rank, I felt more pressure, too.

Of course, I wasn’t streaming either.

I usually stream when I play Solo Queue, but this account was something I wanted to keep a secret.

It was a form of refreshing for me.

‘Well, I’ll get caught anyway.’

But until then, I just wanted to have fun.

My nickname is Americano1L.

My current tier is around Dia 4.

My position is Mid.

Honestly, playing my main position, Jungle, on a smurf account would be a bit boring, and recently, I’ve really enjoyed Mid.

‘There’s another reason, but… whatever.’

There are a few hellish tiers in Legends of League.

One of the most famous is the so-called Yeti tier, located between my current rank of Dia 4 and Plat 1, 2, where users are distributed.

This tier is pure chaos.

You have Plat 1 users desperate to hit Diamond and the Dia 4 Yetis who transform when they team up with them.

The infamous reputation of Yeti users is high.

It’s because from Dia 4 onward, you get players who actually know what they’re doing, and the score doesn’t climb easily like before, assuming you have a normal MMR.

Thus, many users are content with just getting to Dia and get stuck in Dia 4—that’s the Yeti lot.

The key issue is that the demotion between tiers like Plat and Dia doesn’t happen easily.

This naturally leads Yeti 4 players to forget the urgency of winning games.

They end up playing games where winning or losing doesn’t really matter.

If everyone played this way, it wouldn’t be a problem, but the issue is that the Yeti tier exists between Dia 4 and Plat 1.

It’s the meeting place for those living just before the threshold of Diamond and those eager to cross it.

The ones who don’t care whether they win or lose and those who are determined to win.

There was no need to explain what happens when such players gather.

It isn’t just that which makes the Yeti tier hellish.

It’s a commonly accepted notion that Yeti users are inferior to Plat 1 users, but that’s not strictly true.

After all, those Yeti users have made it from Plat 1 to Dia 4.

Therefore, Yeti users can sometimes unleash their true skills if they face the threat of demotion or if they get provoked in-game.

That’s why the already chaotic Yeti tier becomes even more crazed.

‘Well, it doesn’t really matter.’

Though this confusing Yeti tier drives many players to despair, there are ways to break through it.

Simply put, overwhelming power.

I mean, if I say I’ll carry, there aren’t that many players in the Yeti tier who will openly throw.

Regardless of everything, they’re the type of players who seize opportunities like ghosts when it comes to victory.

[Shallashalashul: ?]

[Shallashalashul: 1st pick win rate ㄷㄷ]

Since it’s around the Dia tier, teammates frequently check each other’s records, and one of them immediately reacted to my stats.

Indeed, this account currently has a win rate of 13 wins and 0 losses, maintaining a perfect 100%.

However, not all teammates will react positively to my stats.

[JukyeyongID34: Ah]

[JukyeyongID34: Must be a fresh smurf]

Though that was all they said, the underlying intent was clear.

Of course, I didn’t really care much about that.

I had seen such reactions before.

‘I’m technically a pro, so I can’t be too affected by that.’

Before I knew it, the first ban was completed.

Our team is on Blue.

In other words, we have the 1st pick.

‘Blue 1st pick…’

As expected, having the first pick in Solo Queue is both a blessing and a curse.

That’s why when it comes to a strong top pick in the meta, there’s often a request to swap, but picking a safe champion in Mid isn’t that bad.

‘Let’s see…’

After a moment of thought, I picked Viktor, considered one of the top-tier champions in Mid.

[Viktor]

Because it’s a pretty standard pick, there wasn’t any notable reaction from my teammates.

If I had made a bizarre pick, my teammates’ morale might have crumbled before the game even began, so it was a relief.

‘This placement isn’t a crime, but come on…’

Currently, the perception of fresh smurf accounts in Legends of League rank is not very favorable.

Due to the nature of smurf accounts, the MMR and points gained from victories are significantly higher, while the losses are relatively minor, which often leads to games at skill levels above their actual prowess.

Of course, you eventually find your level while playing, but it’s not unreasonable to be wary of accounts with fewer games.

‘Well, I just have to play well.’

And…

The ban/pick phase was completed.

[Allies / Enemies]

Top: Kennen / Graves(?)

Jungle: Hecarim / Zac

Mid: Viktor / Aatrox(?)

Bot: Miss Fortune / Ezreal

Support: Renata Glasc / Yuumi

Overall, the comp… well, it looked like a typical Solo Queue comp.

Graves, who once dominated the top lane, hasn’t appeared much lately, but since all champions can show up in Solo Queue, it wasn’t too weird.

Zac doesn’t often get picked in tournaments due to early game risks, but here it just seemed to be allowed.

‘On the other hand, our team’s pick is quite stable.’

The lane matchups aren’t bad, and it has good potential for team fights and hopes for late-game growth.

Of course, the opponent’s comp isn’t to be taken lightly either, so it’s not a game we can just win by not trying hard.

‘There’s really no need for that.’

-Welcome to Summoner’s Rift!

The real game has started.

I guess it’s because it’s the early part of Diamond, but there were no afk players from the get-go.

The early invade showed both sides were in a defensive posture.

Considering the supports involved in the invade were the weak Renata and Yuumi, it was a natural flow of events.

-Minions have spawned!

The invade phase passed smoothly, and the actual laning began.

Viktor’s early influence isn’t that strong.

Since he’s basically a late-game champion, and being an AP mage means there isn’t much he can do early on.

‘But if my opponent is Aatrox, I can apply pressure any time.’

Usually, AP champions are perceived as weak in the early game.

As mentioned earlier, they tend to struggle in synchronizing with their junglers or joining fights over crab control.

But actually, AP champions, including Viktor, can be quite strong in lane early on.

To prove that point, I took an aggressive stance early on, pressing Aatrox hard.

Such positioning is usually seen when a melee champion faces a ranged one in top lane, but I was unrestrained in doing it from mid as well.

Specifically, Aatrox’s skills, not counting his passive, are all non-targeted.

So, it’s quite possible to toy with Aatrox without getting hit by a single spell.

‘In this situation, what I need to check is Zac’s movement.’

And I had already placed a ward on the enemy red buff.

That means I clearly know where the enemy Zac is starting from.

From that moment, Zac’s path was being constantly read in my head.

Of course, Zac could suddenly abandon jungling and dash to mid, but I kept my positioning in mind, even considering that.

‘He must be itching to come.’

Aatrox attempted a few trades, but each time I dodged his Q’s first hit, I ended up hitting him instead.

Zac, in this situation, basically has no choice but to let mid go free.

‘By now…’

I slightly adjusted my positioning forward on purpose.

From this position, I could be within Zac’s jump range.

However, it wasn’t just Zac nearby.

I could see my jungle Hecarim sneaking in response to my ping for help.

Now, it’s time to show how to use a jungler.
